Condition: Car is like new w/ approx 33500 miles - engine & drivetrain have no problems/[issues, car starts runs stops w/ no issues- exterior is black- exterior has no dents & only minor rock chips & minor scratches that you have to look hard to find/see that is normal for a 3 year old vehicle w/ low mileage- Interior is black w/red inserts- Interior is in excellent condition w/ no wear or tear- Is loaded w/ all the options available = power sun roof, navigation, light convenience pkg, upgrade sound system, voice command, steering wheel controls, stereo/CD/Sirius Radio, spoiler, exterior sports molding, 18" alloy mag wheels, key pad entry, remote key entry, & more- Car was in a wreck with an air bag deployment so insurance totaled it & has a salvage title but the damage was only minor w/ body panels replacement & some repair/replacement of front passenger side wheel mech parts. was repaired to like new with air bags replacement was state inspected and passed with no issues for salvage retitle. The car has options with rear view backup (rear view camera) in navigation screen, side view obstacles warning lights in outside mirrors, and backup sensors (but the back up sensor are not currently working and shows in the dash display as such when you start the car - there were working up to about a month ago = I can't figure out was is wrong or how to repair myself but I don't typically use this so did not try to spend money to repair). Everything else works that I am aware of with no issues. I bought car as a salvage in December of 2012 and have driven it putting on about 11,000 miles as an everyday driver with a few 500+ one-way weekend trips and the car is very reliable = would not hesitate to drive a cross the country and back if I need to. No leaks, drips, rips, tears, etc. Interior leather is in excellent condition as is the carpet, has space saver spare and jack, I have changed the oil in it twice since owning it with no other mechanical or electrical repairs required.

Features: Most of these already listed above = select shift automatic transmission, key pad entry, remote keys lock/unlock/trunk/security alarm, interior lighting convenience pkg, exterior convenience pkg,, satellite radio, upgrade speakers sound system, Sync command communications system,

History: I bought the car in Dec. 2012 from a car dealer who bought it from the repair shop who made the repairs (and as I understand is in the business of buying wrecked vehicles that the insurance companies total but can be repaired fairly low cost and resale them with state repaired inspection acceptable salvage title) and had the car pass state inspection for retitle / sale. The car only had one owner prior to the repair shop who bought the car and wrecked the car shortly after he purchased it with about 20,000 miles on it.  I am selling the car because I need to get a truck.

Shipping & payment; I do not ship. Car will need to be picked up in Russellville, AR. Buyer will need to make own shipping arrangement if needed. Car will be released only after full payment is made and clears bank account.

Ford, Renault, VW shareholder oppose French aid for PSA/Peugeot-Citro"en

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

Pots and kettles, glass houses and stones - that's a little of what we appear to have going on in the European car market. New reports say that that three European automakers have registered their opposition to a loan deal that PSA/Peugeot-Citroën is working on with the French government. Peugeot's finance arm, Banque PSA Finance, is struggling with its debts and has been downgraded by Moody's to its lowest investment-grade classification, one step above junk. This makes it more expensive for a potential buyer to finance a car through Peugeot. The last thing Peugeot needs is more difficulty selling cars in the tough European market, and the situation will only worsen if the bank's credit worthiness takes another hit.
A deal being worked on would have the French government offer €7 billion ($9B U.S.) in bonds to guarantee the bank's loans, which would give the institution some breathing room to manage its debts and lower its interest rates. Outside of that, a group of banks would provide other, non-guaranteed loans to the bank to further help its position. In exchange for state help, though, the government wants seats on Peugeot's board for worker representatives and a government liaison, along with factory and worker guarantees. The Peugeot family would maintain control of the company.
So what we have is government assistance being provided to a car company's finance arm, akin to the way General Motors' GMAC (now Ally Financial) and Chrysler Financial got help in their time of need. What we also have is Ford and Renault, and Germany's State of Lower Saxony, the second-largest shareholder in Volkswagen, voicing their concern about the proposal, because they say it could create an unfair competitive advantage for Peugeot. Everyone in Europe's down market is fighting for every sale, and if Peugeot gets help to keep its auto loan costs down, it figures to help buyers choose Peugeot or Citroën.

Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor to get 365-hp EcoBoost option

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Speeders beware, the police are going to be getting quite a bit faster. Ford has just announced that it will be offering its 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged, EcoBoost V6 in the Explorer Police Interceptor. The new engine will be joining the existing 3.7-liter V6. The 365-horsepower, 350-pound-foot mill should be familiar to consumers as the powerplant that's found in the Ford Taurus SHO (and its LEO equivalent, the Taurus Police Interceptor) and the Ford Explorer Sport. It should also provide quite a kick in the pants to officers used to the naturally aspirated 3.7 and its 304 ponies and 279 pound-feet of torque.
The move to the more potent powerplant was born out of all the equipment officers need to carry on a day-to-day basis. These days, there's so much stuff that police need on a regular basis, that there's a genuine market for a faster Police Interceptor Utility, as it's known officially. The Explorer-based cruiser has already accounted for 68 percent of Ford's LEO sales in 2013, and that's with just the 3.7, and we'd only expect that number to increase once the twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 is available. Ford won't offer up any indication of what the take rate will be on the new engine, but we're guessing it'll be fairly high.
The success of the Explorer PI couldn't have come at a better time for Ford. The decision to end Crown Victoria production was not a popular one with police, and combined with Chevrolet and Dodge diving into the LEO market feet first, Ford hasn't been performing as well as it's wanted to. The Explorer has been helping it turn around, though. And with the inclusion of the EcoBoost, Ford also has a legit competitor for the Chevrolet Tahoe on the big utility side of the police market.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.
