2004 Ford Freestar cargo van
This van is 100% ready to go, ready to work, ready for you! This van was owned and maintained by a fortune 500 company. This van was part of the General electric GE fleet lease program. Generally with a fortune 500 company this vehicle may have been assigned to the same person same driver since brand-new. These fleet lease vehicles are maintained too strict manufacturer standards. Currently has only 171,000 miles on it with much much more life left to go. Yesterday I saw a 2004 Ford Freestar fleet vehicle that had 345,000 miles on it, these vans are built well and built to last. Under the hood this has a 3.9 L V6 engine coupled with an automatic transmission. The V-6 runs perfect and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. There are no warning lights or service light on in the vehicle and no codes that are active in the computer this is another sign that this vehicle has been well cared for and very well-maintained. Under the engine bay it is exceptionally clean. While I have no evidence or proof of this the transmission looks so clean and so perfect it looks as if the transmission has been recently replaced. This minivan offers the convenience features of power windows, power door locks, Power mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, AM/FM stereo, oversized cup-holders, and multiple storage compartments. In the rear of this van you have the safety bulkhead behind the seats, you also have shelving with drawers and racking. The shelving was built by master rack and installed directly from Master rack as well. There are two drawers in the rear of the van both have adjustable compartments with dividers that you can move forward and rear adjusting for your cargo needs. This vehicle had an entire vinyl wrap that I believe has protected the vehicle substantially. As with any used vehicle you will expect to find some bumps and bruises along the way. The issues that I have noticed are as follows & are also photo'd and video'd as well. You will see on the driver seat there is one burn mark as well as a couple spots on the back rest. Not sure what the spots on the back rest are from but the one on the seat is clearly a cigarette burn. There is no noticeable odor of nicotine or cigarette smoke in the vehicle. On the driver-side just behind the rear door in front of the rear tire there is a bubbling spot that had some rust showing we cleaned that up and applied touch up paint to that area it is also photo'd below please take a look. On the passenger side of the van the rear door is dented I have taken many photos and a video of this from different angles so you can see the dent. On the same door and around the same area you will also find some scuffs and scratches in the paint, nothing too bad but they are there. The driver side headlight has some spots on it, I am not sure what the spots are we've attempted to clean them and polish them off but the spots will not come off. From a distance they are not noticeable you can only see them when you get directly close on the headlight they actually just look like water spots. On the front near the grill and front corners of the hood you have your normal bug chips rock chips etc. mostly all small like the size of the tip of your pen some larger some smaller but again as with any used vehicle every vehicle has these. Overall I think this is a very nice van someone should be proud to have as part of their fleet. This would be a very nice van for many different service industries. This van not only will carry tools and equipment to the job but also looks nice on the outside and is ready for your company logo. Make a lasting impression with a nice clean cared for well running van. I have taken many pictures as well as video of this van. Please take a look at all the photos and videos and you as well will see the quality of this vehicle. Junkyard Gem: 1993 Mercury Topaz GS Sedan
Sat, Aug 13 2022As long as the Mercury brand existed — a period spanning the 1939 through 2011 model years — nearly every Mercury sold in the United States was more or less a redecorated Ford model. The Torino had its Montego sibling, the Crown Victoria had the Grand Marquis, the Cougar was based on everything from the Mustang to the Mondeo, and so on. Naturally, when the folks in Dearborn developed the Ford Tempo compact, a Mercury version had to be created. This was the Topaz, with the official launch of both cars taking place on the deck of the aircraft carrier often referred to as the USS Decrepit. You can't make this stuff up! The Tempo/Topaz, also known as the Tempaz, has largely faded from our collective automotive memory by now, since it broke no significant new engineering or styling ground (this story would be much different if Ford had only put the amazing straight-eight "T-Drive" Tempaz powertrain into production) and didn't have any endearing features other than being a cheap domestic competitor to the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra. Still, close to 3 million Tempazes left North American Ford and Lincoln-Mercury showrooms during the 1984-1994 period. As you'd expect, most of these disposable cars disappeared from both the street and the car graveyard long ago. It takes a very special Tempaz for me to break out my camera while I'm patrolling my local wrecking yards; generally, this means an ultra-rare all-wheel-drive version or at least a very early model in super-clean condition. Today's Junkyard Gem is neither, but I took one look at this spectacular Bordello Red crypto-velour-and-slippery-plastic interior and recognized that this was no ordinary junkyard Mercury. It appears that Mercury had dropped the idea of clever names for base-grade seat fabrics by the time of the Topaz, referring to this stuff as just "cloth" in all the brochures I could find. That's too bad, because Mercurys had cool names for upholstery (e.g., Chromatex) in the old days. The interior is in very good condition but the steering wheel shows substantial wear, so I think this is a high-mile Topaz that got meticulous care from its owner or owners. Ford used five-digit odometers on these cars until the end of production, however, so we'll never know if this reading indicates 65,404 miles or 365,404 miles. The body is very straight, but there's some nasty corrosion behind the right front wheelwell.
Scandal-rocked UAW extends Ford, FCA contracts, prepares to strike GM
Fri, Sep 13 2019DETROIT — Leaders of the United Auto Workers union have extended contracts with Ford and Fiat Chrysler indefinitely, but the pact with General Motors is still set to expire Saturday night. The move puts added pressure on bargainers for both sides as they approach the contract deadline and the union starts to make preparations for a strike. The contract extension was confirmed Friday by UAW spokesman Brian Rothenberg, who declined further comment on the talks. The union has picked GM as the target company, meaning it is the focus of bargaining and would be the first company to face a walkout. GMÂ’s contract with the union is scheduled to expire at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. ItÂ’s possible that the four-year GM contract also could be extended or a deal could be reached, but itÂ’s more likely that 49,200 UAW members could walk out of GM plants as early as Sunday because union and company demands are so far apart. Picket line schedules already have been posted near the entrance to one local UAW office in Detroit. Art Wheaton, an auto industry expert at the Worker Institute at Cornell University, expects the GM contract to be extended for a time, but he says the gulf between both sides is wide. “GM is looking through the windshield ahead, and it looks like nothing but land mines,” he said of a possible recession, trade disputes and the expense of developing electric and autonomous vehicles. “I think thereÂ’s really going to be a big problem down the road in matching the expectations of the union and the willingness of General Motors to be able to give the membership what it wants.” Plant-level union leaders from all over the country will be in Detroit on Sunday to talk about the next steps, and after that, the union likely will make an announcement. But leaders are likely to face questions about an expanding federal corruption probe that snared a top official on Thursday. Vance Pearson, head of a regional office based near St. Louis, was charged with corruption in an alleged scheme to embezzle union money and spend cash on premium booze, golf clubs, cigars and swanky stays in California. ItÂ’s the same region that UAW President Gary Jones led before taking the unionÂ’s top office last year. Jones and other union executives met privately at a hotel at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Friday. After the meeting broke up, JonesÂ’ driver and others physically blocked an AP reporter from trying to approach him to ask questions.
This woman owns the first Ford Mustang sold in the US
Wed, 11 Dec 2013As Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Mustang with the unveiling of the all-new sixth-gen design, one Chicago women can lay claim to a piece of Mustang history. According to CBS Chicago, Gail Wise was the first person in the US to buy a Mustang in 1964, and she did so two days before the car was even unveiled to the public.
Wise, then a 22-year-old teacher, went into the Chicago Ford dealership wanting to buy a convertible, and a salesperson ushered her over to car covered by a tarp. That car was a baby blue Mustang convertible, which she still owns today - along with the documentation. After sitting for almost 30 years and undergoing a full restoration, the car now looks to be in original condition. The report says that this $3,400 purchase could be worth anywhere between $100,000 and $250,000. While this worked out well for Mrs. Wise, we wouldn't recommend anyone going into a dark, back room of a dealership hoping to get a jump on the purchase of a 2015 Mustang.
