1964 Ford Falcon Squire Wagon on 2040-cars
Jacksonville, Florida, United States
|
I just bought this wagon last week because I was going to make it into a surf wagon to take to cruises and shows while I'm building my wifes 1957 Buick Hardtop Riviera coupe. Come to find out, I am not really al lthat interested in the "Surf" theme after all and I think I would be happier with a coupe, so I am selling the wagon, no other reason, that's it.
I have a free and clear Florida title in my name, the car is registered to Florida, I have driven it this last weekend, it drove fine for what it is, a 6cyl, manual steering and drum brake wagon. The motor is a little cold natured, it does run fine once it warms up, the transmission works quite well, it is a 2spd I think, to be honest I never drove it over 45 MPH, so I'm not sure. The steering is a little sloppy, but the are not shakes, rattles or weird things happening in the steering as you drive, it tracks straight, does not shimmy when you hit bumps in the road, it brakes straight and does not pull to the side when you brake. No over haeting that I can tell, no snoke, no weird smells, I just went ahead and had the oild changed and the oil was clean, no worries on the motor or trans, and as stated, the brakews work well for drum manual brakes. I think the steering box needsto be adjusted to remove some of the play in the steering wheel. All of the gauges appear to work, the A/C blows cool, not ice cold, but I thin kit just needs to be re-charged. All the belts and hoses look good, the radiator and condenser appear to be in good shape. The fuel pump appears to work fine, but I think it could use some tightening of the fuel line, there is a small amount of leakage, nothing freaky, just needs some tightening which I will lokk into this weekend. The tires appaer to be newer, they are 13", they hold air and ride fine. The body is really pretty good for the age of the car. look at my pictures, I try to show what the bad spots are, the top of the rear quarters fenders have the paint flaking off, and there are two bad spots in the drivers side door and rear door. The pans are very good shape, the doors open and close very well, the interior is in good condition, a couple of small tears , but nothing horrible. All of the glass is good, rolls up and down, the rear tailgate glass does need help getting it up and down, but it does work, I think it needs some lubrecation. the carpet / mats are not great, they could be replaced, the fold down rear set works great, the rear spare and all of the jack and stuff is there, it does rattle a little when you are driving, I will tighten up the mounts, Overall the car is nice and well worth my reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction early because I do have the car listed locally. I will work with a buyer on shipping. I would be willing to deliver it myself within a 150 mile radius for the buy it now price. I would be open to trades for a good driver quality 1960 -1963 Falcon coupe, no 4 doors. And maybe a 1960 - 1965 Chevy II coupe. No motorcycles, boats, land or your Mom's Jewlery. I will be glad to try and answer your questions and Good Luck on the bids. |

eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype
Wed, 08 May 2013Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.
2013 Shelby GT350
Fri, 31 May 2013Shelby is a name as synonymous with the Ford Mustang as marshmallows are with campfires. But unlike the short-lived sugary confection that is prepared on a stick, the late Carroll Shelby's name on the placard means added performance and exclusivity. Launched in 1965, the automaker's celebrated early cars were in production for a limited run - today, a mint concours-quality 1965 Shelby GT350 can sell for upwards of $350,000.
To coincide with the 45th anniversary of the original Shelby GT350, Shelby American reintroduced the GT350 in 2011. Like the original, it was only offered in white with blue stripes. Customers were offered a choice between naturally aspirated (440 horsepower) and two levels of supercharging (525 horsepower with a warranty or 624 horsepower without). The manufacturer calls the GT350 a "post-title" package, a term that means it starts out life as a stock Mustang and is modified outside Ford's factory (this is in contrast to the Shelby GT500, which is a standard Ford production car).
As the GT350 enters its third year, Shelby has made several changes. Mechanically, Wilwood brakes replace Baer units and Recaro seats and a tinted glass roof are on the options list. Cosmetically, the vehicle is now offered in most of the Blue Oval's factory colors, new multispoke wheels are available in Satin Black or Bright Silver Metallic finish, and customers can choose between Satin Black, Silver or Gloss White stripes (or Azure Blue Metallic on Performance White or Ingot Silver). Aesthetically, the look of the car has also changed somewhat - keen eyes will note that it actually appears more 'stock' than it did last year.
Feds Probe Power Steering In 938,000 Ford Midsize Cars
Mon, Oct 6 2014U.S. safety regulators are investigating complaints that the power-assisted steering can suddenly fail on three Ford midsize car models. The probe covers 938,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years, as well as the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received 508 complaints alleging that the cars lost power-assisted steering, causing increased steering effort. Four complaints say the problem caused crashes, but no injuries were reported. The agency says in documents posted Monday on its website that in many cases, a warning message appeared as the failure happened. Restarting the car corrected the problem in some cases, but the problem returned in others. The agency says it will check the scope and frequency of a problem. It could seek a recall. Ford says it's cooperating with the probe. Shares of Ford Motor Co. rose 6 cents to $14.65 in morning trading Monday. Its shares are down 14 percent over the past year.
