1968 red Ford Fairlane 500 Fastback.  It's a solid running project.  I was told the 302 V8 was rebuilt around 2008.  It fires right up with no issues.  Odometer has rolled over, but now reads around 1000.  I bought it in the fall to restore with my brother but don't have the time or the body work skills to finish it before he goes to college.  I haven't gotten into the car, but what I do know is that it needs some body work, a paint job, and tires.  The drums have been rebuilt but I think the lines need to be bled.  The interior is in great shape.  It has a new battery.  It was an AC car, but the AC was removed.  I have the Fairlane name plates in the trunk.  It's a cool, somewhat rare car and could be cruised this summer with a small amount of work.

I'm selling the car AS IS - there is no warranty.  It's got really good potential - it runs and practically drives, but it is a 46 year old project car.  It should be towed home.  I strongly recommend you come out and look at it before bidding.  $500 non-refundable PayPal deposit within 48 hours of the auction ending, and the rest by cash at delivery.  No haggling the price upon pick up.  I have a clear Ohio title.  Please feel free to ask for more pictures if you're interested in bidding and I'll be happy to send you a photo of anything you'd like to see.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains

Wed, 21 May 2014

If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.

The 2019 North American International Auto Show might have been a little more quiet than past years, but there were still some pretty major reveals, including the Toyota Supra, new Ford Explorer, Shelby GT500, Subaru WRX STI S209 and Kia Telluride. We also saw some lovely concepts like the Nissan IMs and Lexus LC Convertible. Senior Editor Alex Kierstein, Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski and Senior Green Editor John Beltz Snyder join me, Associate Editor Reese Counts — with Social Media Manager Michael Dylan Ferrara behind the camera — on a long walk through the show. We discuss cars, poke around the stands, dress a bloody wound and answer your questions in the Facebook comments. For more Detroit coverage, you can check out Autoblog's picks for the best in show, listen to our podcast or look at the best images from all the reveals. Finally, don't forget to watch Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore hand over our 2019 Technology of the Year award. Ford to show special edition Raptor on April 9

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

There are precious few details, but what we do know is that Ford will be revealing images of "appearance upgrades" for a special-edition 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor on April 9. The slideshow will happen during a Motor Press Guild luncheon at Ford's Design Center Showroom in Irvine, California.
Without photos or further details, we're left to wonder about the extent of these changes, but aren't expecting anything too significant given the venue. Ford is understood to be revealing a next-generation F-150 with a big weight loss - as much as 700 pounds - for 2014, though it isn't yet clear if that's the truck's model year or simply its on-sale year. For at least a couple of years, Ford forums have been suggesting changes will come with the 2014 Raptor, so there could still be a bigger surprise in store. Either way, we'll know what all this means in a little more than a week. The press release below has the official details, but for the moment, we'll content ourselves by ogling the 2013 model above.
