1956 Ford Fairlane on 2040-cars
Gordonville, Texas, United States
Well I know you have heard this story before. A project that had a good start never got finished. Im listing this for my dad. Its a good start to a cool cruiser. Its a 1956 Fairlane sedan. As you can see the original motor and transmission are gone. The 312 had been replaced and the motor was locked up it had a three speed but all that has been gone for a while. He had the car painted Black Cherry and the guy did a pretty good job. Body is straight and I think one piece of chrome is bent where a tree branch had hit the fender. There isnt any rust I can find that isnt surface rust and thats underneath. The interior is original and needs redoing but its very usable. The car has skirts which is always a bonus. It has four brand new 215/75/15 tires and has been in storage since the moment it was painted probably two or more years ago. The tires werent on ground as it has been on jack stands. Throw on a cool set of spinner hubcaps and you are good to go. All the chrome seems to be here and the other Thunderbird emblem not seen is in a bag with door hardware. It has original spare tire and jack along with trunk mat.
There is a motor its a 1992 351W out of a Ford truck It was a good running motor when purchased. Its been on a motor stand for two years. Its set up for injection but he had purchased an intake, carb and air cleaner set up from a guy on here that is still in box. You could still use brackets and rest of motor just need to pick your transmission and mount it up. It will need a distributor for using a carb. I have pictures of floor pans if interested but there is no rot as far as I could see. This car has a clean texas title. |

Ford predicts it will finish 2013 as top-selling US brand
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Ford is ready to call the ball on its 2013 sales totals, predicting a first-place finish for units sold in the US for a single brand. The company anticipates selling more than 2.4 million vehicles when all vehicle sales over the last 12 months have been tallied, repeating the victory it trumpeted over Toyota last year.
According to Ford's accounting, it sold 329,677 more vehicles than did Toyota in 2012. This year, the Blue Oval expects that margin to grow; through the end of November, Ford says it has outsold Toyota by 396,041 units.
Retail sales of Ford products are projected to exceed 1.7 million units for 2013 (the best retail result in 6 years for the company), with passenger cars accounting for 600k of that total. The redesigned Fusion is expected to crest the 290k mark, and the Fiesta is said to be ready to hit a model-record of 70k-plus. Meanwhile, utility vehicles and trucks are still paying a lot of bills in Dearborn, with the new Escape racking up an expected 300k sales and F-Series trucks chugging along at 688,810 units sold thru November.
Ford tells Congress it collects and protects some driver data
Fri, 14 Feb 2014Last month Ford's Jim Farley made waves at the CES when it was reported he told show attendees, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone." Farley and Ford later partially retracted and clarified that statement.
Spurred by a desire for further transparency on data collection policies, Ford representatives answered questions from Congress, specifically Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.), about driver privacy.
The Detroit News reports that Ford told Congress it does collect some vehicle location data in an effort to "troubleshoot and improve our products" on behalf of the driver. Ford went on to say that it only collects limited data after receiving permission from owners.
Ford sued over alleged 3.5-liter EcoBoost defects
Thu, 16 May 2013Three Ford owners from Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the automaker over defects that they allege exist within the company's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Automotive News reports that the lawsuit claims the engine "contained serious latent design, manufacturing, or assembly defects." Those defects, the suit claims, cause the vehicle to shake, misfire and lose power quickly.
Two of the plaintiffs, a married couple, own a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, and allege they experienced a loss of power and stalling, while the third, an F-150 owner, claims he lost power while accelerating. In addition to the Taurus SHO and F-150, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available in the Ford Flex, Explorer Sport and Lincoln MKT and MKS. Other three- and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines are not included in the suit. There have been no recalls associated with 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently not investigating the matter.
The plaintiffs, however, claim Ford has known about the problem, citing several technical service bulletins issued to dealers of the F-150 that suggest possible fixes. Ford had no comment for Automotive News, saying that it's yet to review the lawsuit, which was filed last Friday in Columbus, OH.
