7.3l Diesel Crewcab With Fontaine Body Classic Cruiser Package on 2040-cars
Warren, Michigan, United States
Condition: In good condition for it's age, ready to go anywhere, well maintained, within the past year new brakes, new front tires, and new batteries.
Features: Fonataine body with 70+ gallon dual tank with automatic leveling pump, CB radio, brake controller, 5th wheel, boxes in the bed for spare tire and storage, bumper hitch, rear air bags with automatic pump. These trucks were built to tow. History: I believe I am the 3rd owner. Originally a Canadian truck (hence the kilometers). Used to tow race cars for the for most of it's life. It hasn't seen snow/salt. Frame and body are in excellent condition. I've had it for the past 2-3 years and continued to use it just to tow my race car. I've maintained it to be a reliable tow vehicle. The only reason I'm selling is I'm downsizing to a single rear wheel truck so I do not have to run commercial plates in my home state (MA requires commercial plates for dually trucks). The 7.3L diesel is known to be reliable. This is the engine that put the super duties on the map. They do not blow out injectors or destroy turbos like the 6.0L engines on. It should be good for several more hundred of thousands of miles if maintained. The transmission has been replaced by the prior owner. I do not know how many miles are on this one. I rebuilt the differential and it should be good. There are some wear and noise from the bearings, but not enough that I replaced them. The transmission functions without issues. Any other things that have come up have been fixed and maintained. If you have any questions please ask. These trucks where $70K when new. You would be hard pressed to find a truck that can tow this amount without spending a lot more. If you do not need to tow anything, buy a different truck. Shipping and Payment: ****NOTE**** I live in MA, but the rig and race car are stored in MI. The truck is currently located in Warren, MI and that will be the site for pick up or the origin site for shipping. Cash in person pick up or cleared cashiers check. If you cannot pick up the vehicle in person it is up to you to arrange, and pay for shipping. The truck will not be released until funds are transferred and secured. To aide in shipping the truck can be at a place of business to make pick up easier. |

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]
Sun, 16 Jun 2013In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.
Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch
Tue, 16 Jul 2013A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.
Recharge Wrap-up: Grimsel electric car breaks acceleration world record, electric Ford Raptor ATV debuts
Sun, Nov 16 2014An all-electric version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is now available... as an ATV. Made by Caddyshack Golf Cars, it features officially licensed Ford badging borrowed from the super-macho pickup. It has a lifted chassis with leaf springs in the front and rear, hydraulic shocks and off-road tires. Powered by a 48-volt motor, it can do 0-25 mph in 2.9 seconds. Range is an estimated 30 miles - plenty to get you through 18 of the most rugged holes of golf you've ever played. Caddyshack also offers other miniature electric Fords, including a Shelby GT500, Shelby Cobra and 50th Anniversary Mustang. Read more at Green Car Reports. Lexus takes a crack at the BMW i3 in a new video from Funny or Die. In the decidedly anti-EV film, a group of guys drives to Las Vegas for a "dad-chelor party" in a Lexus CT 200h and a BMW i3. The Lexus hybrid makes it to Sin City without any problems, while the BMW's occupants need to make several lengthy stops to charge along the way, missing much of the fun. The video lampoons the inherent range limitations of the EV (the BMW group ends up driving slowly through the desert with no AC or radio to save energy), all in a well produced, if somewhat misguided, short comedy film. Perhaps they should have considered the i3 with a range extender? See the video below, or read more at Green Car Reports. Students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University have set a new EV acceleration world record. Their "Grimsel" racing car was able to zoom from 0-100 kph (0-62.137 mph) in just 1.785 seconds in less than 30 meters (98.425 feet), crushing the previous record of 2.134 seconds. Even more impressive is that the Grimsel was built by the students themselves, as part of the Formula Student team at the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich. The car weighs just 370 pounds and provides 200 horsepower and 1,202 pound feet of torque from the four hub motors. The Grimsel uses traction control to manage torque for maximum acceleration. See the record acceleration run in the videos below or read more at Gizmag, at Electric Autosport or in the press release from ETH Zurich below. 'grimsel' breaks world record The 'grimsel' electric racing car today broke the previous world record for acceleration in electric cars. The vehicle accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.785 seconds in under 30 metres. The new record was set by students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, who also designed and built the vehicle.
