This auction is for a 1996 Ford XLT Super Cab F350 1 ton dually . This truck belongs to a good friend of mine who asked if I would list it for him. It has a 460 V-8 gas fuel injected motor , auto trans, and pretty much all of the rest of the equipment most people would order in a loaded truck. Ps ,Pb, power door locks, power windows , tilt wheel. cruise control . AC (blowing cool not cold) am-fm cassette, int wipers ,bucket seats with console , slideing rear window, folding back seat, cloth interior, brake unit for the trailer hitch Trailer towing package, lund sunvisor and ground effects package and dummy spotlights. The truck runs and drives super only 102,000 original miles. Plenty of life left. The body is in exceptional shape. No rust or repair work super and original down both sides.Even the rear fiberglass fenders are perfect  Doesn't appear that it came from this area originally. All I could find is 1 small paint chip on the bottom of the passenger side fender just above the ground effects part.Interior is in exceptional shape also. Doesn't even come close to looking like the miles. Not smoked in either. I do know that it needs the 2 hub caps for the front wheels and both front tires are weather checked on the sides but the tread is fine. My friend bought a new truck so this one just sits in the corner of the garage. As he said might as well go to someone who can get some good use out of it. Makes a great tow rig or great for down on the farm. We have clear title for a smooth transaction.Feel free to call or email for pics or info 207-324-5568 days or 207-432-2862 after 5 and sundays

How Ford secretly used customers to test its aluminum F-150 [w/video]

Fri, 30 May 2014

Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.

Enterprise customer billed $47k for Mustang stolen from rental lot

Sun, 05 Jan 2014

A weekend rental of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible sounds like a nice, relaxing way to burn some gas, but one Nova Scotia woman's two-day rental is turning into a months-long headache. In early October, Kristen Cockerill picked up the Mustang from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and she returned it the following day as stipulated by the rental contract. Unfortunately, she dropped the car off on a Sunday - a day on which the particular Enterprise office is closed - and the car ended up being stolen overnight.
Now, two months later, CBC reports that Cockerill received a bill from Enterprise for the full replacement of the car totaling $47,271 (a base 2014 Mustang GT Convertible currently costs $40,349 in Canada). As it turns out, the fine print in the contract says that the renter is responsible for cars dropped off after hours until it can be inspected the next business day - this is also reflected on the key drop seen in the news report video, which states "vehicles returned after hours are the responsibility of the renter until inspected on the next business day."
It's not clear how much, if any, of that amount Cockerhill will be responsible for once her insurance company gets involved, but if the insurance company refuses to pay, Enterprise will bill the amount to the credit card she provided during her rental. While this ordeal is far over for Cockerhill, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to always read the fine print.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
