Offering for sale my 1966 Ford Shop Truck. 1966 with a 1965 grill.  Has been my daily driver for the past 4 years.  I found this truck with a blown transmission and could not get over how straight and original it is.  I wanted something that ran hard and drove like a late model car so I started removing the original running gear, motor and transmission.  A 1992 Caprice cop car donated all the lower suspension.  Truck now has power steering, power 12" disc brakes, big G.M. rear end, transmission and sway bars from the cop car.  A 1975 Cadillac Eldorado 500 c.i. motor was installed using an adaptor to the 700r4 transmission.  This truck runs hard and drives like a full size car.  I haul parts for my shop around all the time with this truck including large v8 motors and it never bottoms out.  You can turn lock to lock and the front wheels never rub.  Truly a fun and functional daily driver.  The following parts were all new at the time of completion and I have driven the truck over 12,000 trouble free miles since.  New  Torque Thrust wheels and tires.  New radiator, exhaust system, fuel lines and filter.  Old gas tank was flushed.  All gauges, heater, stop, turn and emergency flashers work.  New seat upholstery, headliner and door panels.  Original floor covering.  Axillary gas tanks were converted to lockable storage boxes.  This old truck is in remarkable condition for it's age and would be one to take to the next level it that's your thing.  We love driving it and get lots of looks and thumbs up while driving it as is.  Nothing wrong with it at this time.  Fly in and drive it home or I will help with shipping.  I have been building custom cars and trucks most of my life and 12,000 trouble free miles since the build should tell you something.  Has life time collector plates if you are in Washington state so if you are from Washington state, you will never have to buy license again.  If you have questions, feel free to give me a call. 509-684-5723

First Ford Mustang prototype shots caught by legendary spy shooter Jim Dunne

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

You know how people refer to someone as having "been around the block" to mean they're very experienced? Well, when it comes to automotive spy photography, Jim Dunne actually laid down the concrete slabs of the block's sidewalk. The unforgettable Dunne more or less invented the car spy game - a fact he cemented by writing book called Car Spy - and has been delivering spy shots and reporting on the industry for some 45 years now. (He also once employed this writer as his impromptu personal chauffer on a Volkswagen trip in Germany, while he slept, but that's a story for a different time.)
In any event, Dunne must be on a mission to prove that "elder statesman" doesn't also mean "washed up" as it is his shots of the upcoming new 2014 Ford Mustang that we've been handed by our friends at KGP Photography.
Mr. Dunne has likely spent the last few years obtaining powerful telescopic lenses, as the Ford in question has clearly been photographed from some distance. Nevertheless, what you see here is visual evidence that the sixth-generation Mustang has moved beyond the mule stage, and is now testing in proper prototype form. Sources indicate that there are production-spec body panels under that baggy canvass dress; but the slightly less bulky silhouette of the new car can be just made out. While the car's bumpers have been removed to obfuscate things, we can tell by way of the camo's apertures that the car's taillights have moved upwards and towards the lip of the tail. A fender vent appears to be visible, too, just behind the front wheel.

Ford builds Lightweight Concept with Fusion shell [w/video]

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

It's a fairly well known fact that removing weight from a car is essentially a panacea for many of the modern automobiles problems. Does it handle like crap? Remove weight. Underpowered? Don't add power; trim the fat. Need to improve fuel economy? It's diet time.
Actually executing a major weight reduction program, though, much like with human beings, is no easy task. Unlike you or I, where motivation is the issue, the prohibitive measure in trimming a car's waistline is money. Lightweight materials are expensive, with carbon fiber and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic still primarily in the domain of higher end vehicles. Even aluminum construction, pioneered on a mass-produced level by Audi and Jaguar, is only now starting to make its way into the mainstream, thanks to the upcoming Ford F-150.
With this concept, though, Ford is attempting to show that a mass-produced, lightweight vehicle isn't too far off. This is the Lightweight Concept, and while it may look like a Fusion, it weighs as much as a Fiesta. For reference, the lightest Fusion available to the public is the 3,323-pound, 2.5-liter model with a manual transmission. A manually equipped, 1.6-liter Fiesta, meanwhile, is just 2,537 pounds.

Ford hybrids getting update to improve fuel economy

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Ford has announced that it is introducing "calibration updates designed to improve on-road fuel economy for owners of the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid."
We can speculate that these changes are at least due in part to lawsuits over mileage claims of hybrid vehicles. The automaker is enhancing 2013 models starting in August by raising their electric cruising speed to 85 miles per hour from 62 mph, optimizing the use of active grille shutters and the climate control system, shortening the engine warm-up period by 50 percent and reducing electric fan speed to minimize the fan's energy consumption.
It bears mentioning that Ford is doing pretty well in the US electrified vehicle market this year. The company claims to have grown its share in the segment by 12 points to 16 percent while taking a high number of Toyota Prius trade-ins in the process. Conversely, Toyota has experienced a five-percent drop in new-Prius sales over the same period. Additionally, Ford states that it has increased its share of the US vehicle market by one percent this year, more than any full-line automaker.
