Up for auction is a very clean 1970 F-100 that I purchased from the original owner, who lovingly maintained it all these years. Truck is a cream yellow color with a black interior. The interior is in excellent condition, outside of the carpet which could use replacing. The dash pad and dash board look about new, as does the seat and door panels. The original owner added several accessories such as a vintage Radio Shack AM/FM/cassette deck, a CB radio, electronic brake controller, and utilized the existing dash switches to control the front mounted fog lights, as well as lighting and speakers in the camper shell. The three spoke steering wheel with horn ring is also in great shape! Truck is powered by a 302 2-barrel engine that was installed in 2001 according to the receipt (and only has about 4700 miles on it now), smooth shifting C4 automatic transmission, and a 9" Ford rear axle with 3.00 gears and posi-traction. Truck also has power steering and power drum brakes. The original owner wanted this truck ready to 'go' at all times, therefore everything under the hood appears to be in great shape. I have converted the truck from points ignition to electronic via a Pertronix Ignitor. Truck has dual 2" exhaust with quiet glass-pack mufflers and chrome tips. The body is very clean, although there are a few dings and scratches here and there as the truck was used for camping, etc. The early 70s aluminum camper shell is in great condition, and there is a carpet kit installed in the bed. Truck also has an aftermarket wind-visor installed with functional running lights, dual CB antennas, dual chrome door mirrors, and mud flaps at all four corners. A vintage bug deflector is installed on the hood too. The super rare American Racing wheels are very unique, they were made in 1976 and have real wood inserts in them!!!!! There is a spare tire with a spare American Racing wheel that matches the ones on the truck, and a set of spare centers are included (spares are plastic though...). USA made tires are near new as well. The truck has a few minor issues that I have noticed. First the doors could use new anti-rattle kits installed as the windows are slightly loose and rattle and have wind noise at speed. Second, there is some rust in the crossmember under the cab on the drivers side (cab mounts are perfect as owner would keep oily rags stuffed in the cab mounts to keep them from rusting). There is also some rust in the inner fenders in the usual spots...... Third, the original windshield has a few rock chips in it. The truck also really needs a complete and thorough detailing job to look it's best, and probably a little mechanical maintenance as the truck has sat much more then it has driven.....though truck has been very reliable for me when I have driven it. This truck is not perfect, but it is a clean and cared for example of the 68-72 F-100 generation. I never planned on selling it, but medical bills say otherwise! Please email with questions and thanks for looking!

Ford reveals Fiesta ST race car, points at road ahead for bigger things in Global RallyCross

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST doesn't go on sale until this summer, but fans of Global RallyCross will be able to catch the car in action before then. Announced ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, the Fiesta ST will be the car run by Ford GRC teams this season, and the model on display in Chicago will be the racecar built by Swedish tuner OlsbergsMSE driven by Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. Ken Block and his newly renamed Hoonigan Racing Division will also be competing in the Fiesta ST.
The 2013 GRC season has not been announced yet, but the venues will also include the summer X Games events in Brazil, Spain, Germany and, of course, Los Angeles. Ford announced that it will be the sole automotive sponsor of this year's summer X Games, and it will be looking to bring home a gold medal this year after Block placed silver last year.
In other Ken Block- and Ford-related news, another Chicago debut will be a tuned Focus ST called the TrackSTer project. Built in cooperation with Block, Ford and automotive tuner fifteen52, the TrackSTer will get plenty of styling, performance and handling upgrades. Some of the add-ons include a performance exhaust and short-throw shifter from Ford Racing, a rebuilt engine, upgraded components such as the limited-slip differential, intercooler, engine controller and clutch as well as upgraded brakes.

Forza Horizon 3 adds Ford Police Interceptor, Jeep CJ5

Tue, Oct 4 2016

We're only a few weeks past the debut of Forza Horizon 3, and already the folks at Turn 10 are introducing the first of six car packs for the open-world driving game. Focused heavily on performance, there are still a few, um, oddballs, including one we're sure Forza's livery customizers will have a blast with. The Smoking Tire Car Pack brings seven new vehicles to FH3, with the Aston Martin Vulcan, Pagani Huayra BC, GTA Spano, Lotus 340R, and BMW M2 repping traditional performance vehicles. As per usual, FH3 renders each car beautifully and promises a solid approximation of real-world performance – even if you do ditch the roads and opt to rampage through the Australian countryside. While performance is good, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and the Jeep CJ5 Renegade bring an off-beat vibe to this particular pack. We aren't certain, but this might be the first time the Police Interceptor appears in a blockbuster driving game. While we expect plenty of police car liveries for the Crown Vic, Forza's rabid community of tuners and customizers are sure to do much more with it. As for the CJ5, is there a better vehicle for tooling about Australia? Yeah, we didn't think so. The Smoking Tire Car Pack is available for free as part of the Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition or Car Pass program. Commitment-phobes can also download this single vehicle pack for $7. FCA UConnect fiasco could set over-the-air updates back years

Fri, Feb 16 2018

Since cars have become more software dependent, most major automakers have been inching toward enabling over-the-air updates to keep vehicle electronics, ranging from infotainment systems to safety features, current. But there are only two car companies — Fiat Chrysler and Ford —± currently doing OTA updates, and on a limited basis. GM CEO Mary Barra announced last summer that the automaker will launch a new EV architecture and infotainment system capable of over-the-air updates "before 2020." The one exception, per usual, is Tesla. Since the release of the Model S almost six years ago, the maverick EV automaker has made routine OTA software updates a core part of its vehicle platforms and value proposition, and has sent out updates for everything from adjusting ride height to enabling Autopilot, largely without incident. When I've asked automakers why they can't do the same thing, I've heard reasons ranging from running afoul of their dealers (and archiac regulation) to security concerns. Automakers like Ford and General Motors say they want to act like tech companies, which routinely send out OTA updates for a wide range of devices, but overall the car industry still moves at a very cautious snail's pace. And when automakers do try to move faster and take more risks — unlike with a smartphone update, which people bitch about but live with — the consequences can be significant when things go wrong. That's the case with Fiat Chrysler America and its recent public-relations nightmare when an OTA update went awry. The update went out at the end of last week for the Uconnect system in late-model vehicles, and it made head units go into a near continuous reboot, which caused owners to not only lose access to entertainment features, but also critical functions like emergency assistance. Almost immediately, owners took to Twitter to express outrage, and FCA was caught flatfooted. A tweet went out on Monday on the UconnectCares Twitter account that read, "Certain 2017 & 2018 Uconnect systems may experience a reboot every 45-60 seconds. Our Engineering teams are investigating the cause and working towards a resolution.
