HERE IT IS LAST OF THE BIG BEHEMOTH SUVS , THESE ARE BECOMING SOMEWHAT RARE, WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET A HEAVY DUTY SUV THAT CAN TOW ALMOST ANYTHING FROM YOUR LARGEST MOBILE CAMPING /TRAVEL/HORSE TRAILOR, ALMOST ANY PLEASURE BOAT,  TO MOST LOADED EQUIPMENT TRAILORS, AND STILL HAVE ROOM FOR THE LUGGAGE INSIDE WITH KIDS IN TOW AND EVEN INLAWS IF ITS YOUR WISH....SEATS 8 PEOPLE COMFORTABLY, WITH THIRD SEAT.....OR  REMOVE REAR SEAT,FOLD DOWN MIDDLE SEATS AND SLIDE IN A 4X8 FOOT SHEET OF PLYWOOD)OR  IF YOU WISH, JUST  STRAP INLAWS OR KIDS ON THE FULL LENGHT ROOF RACK....ITS NOT EASY TO PARK (WIFE CALLS IT THE BUS) BUT IF YOU NEED SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE  THIS VEHICLE IS IT.

PURCHASED THIS BACK IN AUGUST 2009, AND WE HAVE ENJOYED IT ON VACATIONS/AND HAVE TAKEN A SHOW CAR TO EVENTS/ IT PULLED THE CAT TRAILORWITH CAR NO PROBLEM, BUT SHOW CAR GONE, AND A LITTLE OVERKILL FOR DAILY WORK COMMUTE SO WIFE SAYS  SELL, (SHE BOUGHT A NEW CAR) AND HAS SHOVED ME INTO HER CROSSOVER. (TO SAVE GAS). YES IT DOESNT GET THE BEST OF MILEAGE, ON TRIPS LOADED ABOUT 15-16 ON HGWY @70+, AND NORMAL COMMUTE AVG IS 12-13... BUT IF YOUR NEEDS ARE FOR THE UTILITY OF SPACE AND POWER, HAVE TOYS THAT NEED TOWING  OR IF YOU RUN YOUR OWN BUSINESS THEN MPG MAY NOT BE THAT IMPORTANT REMEMBER IT IS A 4X4.   THIS  V-10 (TONS OF HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE) SUV HAS A LITTLE ABOVE AVG MILES FOR THE YEAR, BUT SINCE I BOUGHT THIS IN TEXAS(I ASSUME LOT OF MILES WHERE HIGHWAY) I KNOW MOST OF THE 75K PLUS I PUT ON IT WERE.   SHE SURE RUNS/ DRIVES AND LOOKS VERY GOOD FOR THE AGE AND MILEAGE, ...THE  PAINT STILL SHINES, LOOKS VERY NICE , THE INTERIOR IS AVG TO ABOVE AVG, THE LEATHER LOOKS GOOD NO RIPS OR TEARS  (BUT FORDS LEATHER HAS A TENDANCY TO CRACK AND SHOW WEAR WHEN THERE IS NOT MANY MILES DURING THE EARLY TO MID 2000"S (CHECK OUT PICTURES ON COMPARABLE MODELS), OVERALL THE CARPETS ARE IN GREAT CONDITION, THE EXCEPTION WOULD BE IN THE REAR LUGGAGE AREA AND COUPLE OF SPOTS(LOOKS LIKE ORANGE DRINK) THAT I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE YEARS AGO/AND DYED HARDLY NOTICIBLE... THE LEATHER WRAPPED STEERING WHEEL COVER IS WORN BUT NOT RIPPED, AND EVERYTHING WORKS AS IT SHOULD..JUST TRYING TO BE HONEST...BUT REMEMBER IT IS ALMOST 13 YEARS OLD..HAS PAINT CHIPS ON FRONT BUMPER NORMAL FOR HGWY DRIVING, AND SMALL DENT IN CENTER. BUT ALL LOWER BODY PANELS SHOW NO SUCH IMPERFECTIONS. IT DOES HAVE SMALL ISSUE ON DRIVERS SIDE FRONT OF HOOD, IT WAS A ROCK CHIP THAT I FIXED, PRIMED AND WAS GOING TO GET PAINTED BUT LEFT IT (NO TIME), IT IS IN PICTURES, IT WILL NEED TIRES IN 6-10K MILES, AND EVEN THOUGH THE DVD WORKS GREAT THE CD CHANGER I THINK HAS A CD STUCK IN IT, CANT REMEMBER IF IT HAD A ISSUE WITH STUCK CDS OR NOT, I DO REMEMBER ONE STUCK ON WAS TAKEN OUT BY A FRIEND FOR ME..ALL GUAGES AND ELCTRONICS WORK AS THEY SHOULD .  CHECK OUT ALL DIGITAL PICTURES

THE EDDIE BAUER TRIM IS VERY HIGH END AND SINCE THESE COST AROUND 43K IN 2003 YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT OPTIONS FORD ON THESE AND IN THIS CASE, ITS LOADED,  FACTORY FLIP DOWN DVD PLAYER W/2 REMOTES, HEATED DUAL 6 WAY POWER SEATS WITH LUMBAR SUPPORT, HEATED TRAILOR TOWING MIRRORS, REAR SENSING, TWO TONE EDDIE BAUER PAINT SCHEME AND TWO TONE LEATHER SEATS, LARGE CENTER CONSOLE,COMPUTERIZED CLIMATE CONTROL,  FRONT AND REAR DUAL CONTROL AIR,HEAT,AUTO SEAT MEMORY WITH REMOTES, KEYLESS ENTRY, OVERHEAD CONSOLE WITH TRIP,MPG, COMPASS, SUNGLASS, REMOTE HOLDER. WIRELESS GARAGE DOOR OPENER (JUST PROGRAM TO YOUR HOME GARAGE REMOTE, POWER ADJUSTIBLE BRAKE& GAS PEDALS, ALL POWER ALL AROUND FROM VENT REAR GLASS, WIDOWS, DOOR AND WINDOW LOCKS, ETC.  HEAVY DUTY FLOOR MATS.... STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS FOR CRUISE, RADIO, AND AC TEMP, AND FAN,FULL LENGHT LIGHTED RUNNING BOARDS, HEAVY DUTY CLASS 5 TRAILOR TOWING HITCH, FRONT TOW HOOKS ...ETC ETC ETC,   PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A NICE FORD EXCURSION LOADED BUT IT IS  USED VEHICLE,  NOT NEW, BUT AS DESCRIBED, BUT I AM NOT ASKING 43K FOR IT  CHECK OUT MY FEEDBACK...... PLEASE CALL FOR A COMPLETE WALKAROUND

Did a US automaker blow the whistle on Hyundai, Kia fuel economy issue?

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

In all of the most hotly contested mainstream segments of the motoring universe, the difference of one mile per gallon averaged on a widow sticker can mean the difference between a sale and a walk-off - to say nothing of two or three mpg. So, when Hyundai and Kia were forced to reveal that many of their 40-mpg ratings were actually 38s and 37s, well, it made for big news.
It also, conceivably, made for a competitive disadvantage immediately, when the Korean automakers' products were being shopped versus the guys down the block. And it's that disadvantage that makes a recent story from Automotive News so juicy.
AN is reporting that Margo Oge, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, got a tip in 2010 that Hyundai/Kia were "cheating" to get its impressive fuel economy numbers. The tip, said Oge (who retired from the EPA this past September), came from a senior vice president from a domestic automaker. The source was credible enough for Oge to launch an audit of the Hyundai figures, which ultimately lead to the debacle that we reported on a few months ago, and that the Korean company has been trying to bounce back from ever since.
