1996 Ford Bronco on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
1996, the last year of possibly the best 4x4 platform ever made... the FULLSIZE Bronco. Better off-road AND on-road than anything with comparable capabilities.
And this is the perfect setup for this rig: a 5spd "handshaker" with a Mustang 5.0 V8 under the hood, all factory of course. TRUE dual exhaust, each line with it's own cat. I had a 6" SuperLift kit installed with extended radius arms and Rancho shocks, by Desert Rat here in Albuquerque. Then I added the wheels and 35" Mickey Thompson Fun Country tires. 4wheel Parts installed 4:11 gears front and rear, and Mesa Radio installed a 40 channel CB and a satellite capable stereo. The soft top is a perfect fit with zipper between upper and lower sections, it's by Texas Tops and gets comments anywhere you go. This rig runs and sounds AWESOME, not too loud just nice. I have never had even one single mechanical problem with this vehicle. It can be used as a daily driver or just a weekender. I bought this vehicle from the elderly original owner. He worked for the BIA and drove a govt issue Bronco with the same 5spd V8 setup, so when he retired he bought one for himself. It was in basically new condition with about 80K miles on it. Everything on it is in excellent condition. I am only selling this rig to make room in my driveway for a Camaro that I am building. If I could get access to my backyard and build a place to park more vehicles I would, and I would never part with this beautiful Bronco. Will consider trading for something badass that will fit in my garage, like a newer model Harley etc. Also I have a few guys who want to trade me bikes here locally so I may end this auction early if I do not have an acceptable offer. Thanks for looking and thanks for any offers. |

'Car Wars' says Ford, Honda to pick up share, Fiat-Chrysler ambitions downplayed
Sat, 14 Jun 2014Don't look for a tremendous shifts in automotive market share over the next three years because it might not be coming. That's at least according to the annual Car Wars report by John Murphy, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research.
In the report's analysis of automakers' market share from 2013 to 2017, it predicts only small changes among the major companies. Ford and Honda see the biggest positive effect with an estimated 0.5 percent increase in their shares over the next three years; to 16.2 percent and 10.3 percent respectively. On the flip side, European automakers and Nissan are expected to lose 0.2 percent each to fall to 8.3 percent and 7.8 percent each respectively. The rest of the industry is predicted to hold steady as it is now.
The biggest loser in that prediction might be Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles. The report certainly throws a wet blanket on its plan for significant gains in market share. Murphy told The Detroit News that the company's goal was "almost unattainable."
Toyota again claims Corolla outsold Focus worldwide
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Toyota isn't convinced the Ford Focus was the best-selling nameplate globally last year. Bloomberg reports that for the second time in seven months, both Toyota and Ford are laying claim to the title. Ford cites R.L. Polk & Co. data that says the automaker moved some 1.02 million Focus models in 2012 compared to just 872,774 Toyota Corolla units. But Toyota says the actual figure is closer to 1.16 million Corolla models.
Last year, Ford said it took the sales crown through the fist half of 2012 based on information from IHS Automotive, but Toyota pointed out those numbers left out models like the Corolla-based Matrix and Auris, as well as the Corolla Fielder and Scion xB-based Corolla Rumion. Whether or not Toyota's belief that all these cars should be counted in the Corolla bucket is accurate or not is seemingly up for debate... as is the question of why it matters so much to both parties.
This time around, Ford is holding the line that the Focus is the "best-selling nameplate," with Erich Merkle, a US sales analyst with Ford saying the company's figure is, "a pure number that is verified by a third party." Toyota, meanwhile, has requested clarification from Polk.
Ford considering return to Le Mans with new EcoBoost LMP2
Mon, 21 Jul 2014If you want to see a Ford racing prototype, you need look no further than the United SportsCar Championship, where the Blue Oval fields two Daytona Prototypes powered by an EcoBoost-branded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. But according to the latest rumors, that may not be enough for Ford, which has as much brand to promote overseas as it does back home.
That could be why Racer magazine is reporting that Ford may be poised to return to Le Mans in the coming years. As we all know, Ford competed at Le Mans in the mid-through-late '60s, bringing home four consecutive overall wins with the legendary GT40. The new program would not, according to Racer, seek to relive those glory days, but would instead compete for class wins in the LMP2 category.
Currently, LMP2 regulations are somewhat split between the United SportsCar Championship in North America on the one hand and ACO-sanctioned series like the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship on the other, but plans are underway for the regulations to be unified in time for the 2017 season. That could be when Ford is targeting its return, allowing it to compete on both sides of the Atlantic to maximize its exposure.
