Xcar weighs in on the five best-sounding modern cars

Getting behind the wheel of a well-balanced vehicle can be a wonderfully visceral experience, thanks to the combined feeling of things like the weight of the steering, the bite of the brakes, and, of course, the roar of the engine. Unfortunately, many of the sensations of driving require actually being in the driver's seat to understand them, but thankfully the intoxicating noise of a beautifully tuned internal combustion engine can be shared with everyone. In a new video, Xcar shares their opinion on the five best-sounding modern performance cars. The list is a symphony of horsepower. As opposed to keeping all of the vehicles brand new, Xcar actually picks a few that are recently off the market. They're all definitely champs, though. While the list itself is well stocked, you might be able to argue with the specific order, and it would be nice to hear a few participants from outside of Europe for a collection like this one, too. No matter. Every listener is sure to find something they like in the bunch, though. Turn up the volume and enjoy.

F1 cars will have cockpit protection for the 2018 season

Formula 1's sanctioning body, the FIA, reported that the F1 Strategy Group decided chose the 2018 season to be the first to feature new cockpit technology to protect drivers. The decision was made to allow more time to develop the technology, instead of rushing it into use. The halo design being tested by Ferrari is still the most likely solution that uses a solid ring above and around the cockpit with a central pillar ahead of the driver. The F1 Strategy Group did say that they will be open to any other options that may develop in the coming year. Red Bull has also been developing a system that is closer to a wind-screen. The push to develop new safety technology came after Jules Bianchi's fatal crash with a recovery truck at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. His car slipped underneath the back of the truck leaving his head vulnerable in the impact. It is possible a device like the Halo could have prevented this, but in its current, it form wouldn't protect a driver from the sort of loose debris that hit Felipe Massa during qualifying for the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix. Indian kids joyride in Ferrari F430

Cars and kids. A lot more people out there have both when they should probably have neither, and this is apparent with this latest video coming out of India. While we can't say for sure who these kids and this car beautiful Ferrari F430 belong to, it's at least the worst display of adult supervision we've seen since last month when two Russian parents let their 8-year-old daughter drive an Audi on snow- and ice-slicked roads.
A young boy who can barely reach the pedals drives up and down the public road with an equally young passenger drive the Ferrari while two adults (Dad of the Year behind the camera?) record the whole event. It seems almost silly to point out, but neither of the juveniles appear to have their seat belts on, as well. As bad as this person's decision making skills are to let a kid drive a car under these conditions, though, his video recording abilities are even worse.
