Ferrari auctioning one-off LaFerrari for Italian earthquake relief

Tue, Nov 29 2016

Ferrari is about as Italian as Italian gets, so it's no surprise that the company is launching an initiative to help the victims of this year's two major central Italian earthquakes. And it involves a LaFerrari. Ferrari, RM Sotheby's, and the National Italian American Foundation's Earthquake Relief Fund are partnering up to auction off a one-off LaFerrari from the company's own collection at the upcoming Finali Mondiali on December 3. All proceeds from the auction will go to the reconstruction efforts in central Italy following August's magnitude 6.2 quake and the string of quakes that hit late last month. If you're heading to the Daytona International Speedway for Finali Mondiali and have seven-figure's worth of cash burning a hole in your finely lined pockets, it's worth mentioning what you could bid on. The LaFerrari in question wears the company's traditional Rosso Corsa, but sports white accents down its body and an Italian tricolor on its nose. Ferrari says bespoke interior stylings complement the one-of-a-kind exterior treatment. The special LaFerrari will cross the block at RM Sotheby's on December 3. Related Video:

You can buy President Donald Trump's old Ferrari F430

Fri, Mar 10 2017

You don't see this every day: This Ferrari F430 was formerly owned by President Donald Trump. Judging by the car's title, that point is indisputable. That makes it both a celebrity-owned vehicle, and a Presidential vehicle. It's quite the two-for-one. It could also become yours if you have the dough. This Ferrari comes from the second, presumably less famous owner, and will go for auction at the Auctions America event in Fort Lauderdale. The auction runs from March 31 to April 2, with the F430 crossing the block on April 1. Considering the original owner's tastes, it's a little surprising how restrained this car is. It's in classic Ferrari red with a tan leather interior. Not many options were added either, according to the original dealer sticker. The whole list includes red-painted brake calipers, an optional style of power seat called "Daytona," Scuderia Ferrari shield badges, and an upholstered headliner. In the end, combined with the destination charge, Trump's Ferrari came out to a little under $198,000 (its base price was $184,000). Auctions America expects to get a bit more for it. The auction estimate is $250,000 to $350,000. It also has just under 6,000 miles and is complete with all of its manuals, tool kit, and service records. If it were our money though, we'd go off and find an F430 that wasn't owned by a celebrity, and with a true manual transmission, as opposed to the paddle-shifted F1 gearbox in this model. Both characteristics would make it cheaper, and more fun to drive. Related Video:

Ferrari reports fewer sales, more profit to prove strategy is working

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

Ferrari's angle of emphasizing exclusivity by limiting deliveries is appearing to bear fruit. The company posted a 7.1-percent increase in revenues to 1.7 billion Euros ($2.2 billion at today's exchange rates) during the first half of 2013. Net profits, meanwhile, saw a jump of 20 percent to 116.2 million Euros ($153.5 million). The Prancing Horse delivered 3,767 cars, which, while an increase of 2.8 percent, represents a rate of growth that's slower than in the first quarter of 2013.
While Ferrari may be actively trying to slow its sales down to below 7,000 in 2013, it's seen increased numbers in the US, Great Britain and Germany, along with double-digit growth in the Middle East and Japan (39 percent and 28 percent, respectively).
The move to limit sales should have a greater impact on the numbers that come in later this year, which we told you about back in May. Ferrari's controversial move has already seen a drop in sales to China, which saw 50 fewer Prancing Horses than this time last year.
