For sale, 1983 Ferrari 308 Quattrovalve.  This car has some great upgrades.

Rare Speedline wheels.
Large Brembo calipers with 2 piece rotors up front.
The engine has been twin turbocharged with two IHI turbochargers (same brand as on the Ferrari 288).
Koni's on all 4 corners.
European front bumper.
Performance exhaust (no catalytics).
Momo Steering wheel and aluminum pedal covers.

The car is a flood survivor from the sandy storm; thus the salvage title (no wrecks or body damage though).  Previously owned by a famous New York chef.  We personally drained the engine and transmission oils which were clean; no water whatsoever.  No water in the gauge cluster whatsover (water didn't get that high).  Mostly we've had to fuss with cleaning electrical connectors.  One of the headlights is temperamental and the windows move up and down very slowly; although I'm told the window problem is common to the 308s.

Dash is still in excellent condition, no pulling or puckering.

We welcome test driving or inspecting the car; you can also have your mechanic look the car over at our shop in Rocklin, CA; we can put it on a lift if desired.  The bottom of the car and body panels are in excellent condition.  The paint is a respray, good but not excellent.

Call with questions or to schedule an inspection, 916.765.4284.  Low Reserve, Good Feedback, bid with Confidence.  Car runs and drives beautifully, you will not be disappointed....now a 308 with enough power, combined with a car that already handles well and upgraded brakes!

Buyer is responsible for shipping.

Race Recap: 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix is a fool in the rain

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

Humidity, hunger and heartbreak were the takeaways from the Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix. A proper track with a wider variety of straights and corners than the street circuit in Australia, the second race of the season was expected to be a better test of the performance of the 11 teams on the grid. It was also supposed to be a more accurate test of the Pirelli tires, the bits of rubber at the four corners of the car still at the top of the performance agenda for all the top teams except for McLaren, which even larger issues with its new car to deal with.
Then it rained. Then it rained some more. Then it rained so hard just before the race that numerous drivers slid off the track on the parade lap. Then came the race, and then came the figurative tears and ones of the crocodile variety as well.

Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]

Sun, 26 Jan 2014

If you don't wish to know who won the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, you should avert your eyes right now. We'll even give you a double-space to skedaddle...
For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.

Two weeks and 2,000 miles in Ferrari's FF with Evo

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

EVO's Harry Metcalfe had some questions about the day-to-day livability of the Ferrari FF. When he brought those questions up to Ferrari, they suggested he take one for a couple of weeks and try it out for, as he calls them, "mundane duties." The image above is Metcalfe pointing to the 660-horsepower, all-wheel drive FF parked in one of his fields because, since he lives on a farm, mucking about the green is part of his daily routine. "It could use more ground clearance," he says, "but that's an option on this car."
He does get it on the "tarmac" and he likes it even more there than in the mud. Except for the buttons on the steering wheel; he thinks learning to use them is like learning to play guitar. He has a lot more to say besides that, and you can watch him expound for all of 17 minutes in the video below.
