2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually Slt Cummins Diesel 4wd With Torklift Turnbuckles on 2040-cars
Bremerton, Washington, United States
|
Runs very well. Engine, brakes, transmission are all well maintained with documentation for service performed last three years. All 4 rear tires are essentially brand new (Dec 2013). I will provide a final oil change prior to sale.
Comes with a frame-mounted Torklift mounting system for truck campers (I paid about $1000 for the installation back in 2010) which which will easily accommodate any camper out there. I bought this truck in 2009 with 63000 miles and have put 50, 000 miles on it. I've never towed anything with it except for one 2000 mile trip with a small U-Haul trailer. I did have a 2000 lb truck camper on it for two years. Mileage-wise, I get 19-20 mpg on the interstate, and average about 17 mpg in town. Known deficiencies: front tires are low tread. Rear bumper has some rusty spots and some white paint spots. Tailgate has some scratches. Driver's side controller for right rear window rolls the window down but not up (the right rear controller rolls it up without a problem). Bug deflector fractured in one spot with a minor dent to the hood from an errant golf ball. Documented Maintenance History (since I've owned it, and not counting regular oil changes): -in late 2010 I completely replaced and refilled the entire brake system, but I am missing that receipt 5/25/2011 Replaced Rear U-joint 01/11/2012 Replaced Muffler 05/04/2012 23-point vehicle inspection, replaced upper and lower ball joints both sides, replaced axle u-joints and hub bearings 02/14/2013 Replaced serpentine belt, drained/refilled transmission fluid, flush brake fluid, cooling system flush, replace right outer tie rod, wheel alignment, replace fuel filter, valve adjustments, mount and balance six tires, replace thermostat, replace exhaust pipe 12/13/2013 Replaced 4 rear tires with new Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain tires |

All hail the Hellephant, Mopar's 1,000-horsepower crate engine
Wed, Oct 31 2018It's shocking to say this, but the all-powerful Dodge Demon looks weak now that Mopar has unleashed the Hellephant. This crate motor makes 1,000 horsepower and 950 pound-feet of torque, and its name is a combination of the nickname for the old 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8 and, obviously, the Hellcat. This monster is a 426-cubic-inch version of the current third-generation Hemi V8 topped by a supercharger similar to what the Hellcat line packs. Everything is cranked up to — or perhaps, past — 11. The engine block is made of aluminum and weighs 100 pounds less than the equivalent iron block. All of the internals are forged. The stroke and bore have been increased. The supercharger produces 15 pounds of boost and displaces 3 liters; more than the 2.7-liter blower on the Demon and the 2.4-liter blower on the Hellcat. And as big and powerful as it is, it will still rev to 7,000 rpm. It's a thoroughly monstrous motor, but shockingly, it won't be that difficult to live with. For one thing, Mopar will offer a complete kit to get the engine up and running, including an engine computer, wiring harness and drive-by-wire throttle. It also runs on 93-octane pump gas. That's especially amazing considering the Demon engine "only" makes 840 horsepower, and that's on race gas with 100+ octane fuel. It also has us wondering what the Hellephant could make on racing fuel. The Mopar folks did say that there's room to add more power. Pricing wasn't announced for the Hellephant engine. The Hellcat crate engine retails at $19,350 directly from Mopar, so it's safe to assume that the Hellephant will go for more. The installation kit with the computer and harness will be an extra charge of likely over $2,000, based on the Hellcat kit. The engine and the kit will be available in the first quarter of 2019. Old vs. New: 2014 SRT Viper takes on upgraded 16-year-old Dodge Viper
Fri, 08 Feb 2013It's easy to play the "Would you rather have a New X or an Old Y with a bunch of upgrades?" game more often than we care to admit, but the crew at Car and Driver have taken bench racing to the next level with their latest video. In it, the magazine pits a brand-new 2014 SRT Viper against a highly modified 1997 Dodge Viper GTS. There are 16 years between the time this particular GTS rolled off the production line and when the new car bowed, but that doesn't mean the old snake's owners have been sitting on their hands.
Thanks to a spate of modifications, the GTS offers up a better power to weight ratio than the new machine, but is that enough to overcome the technological leap forward represented by the 2014 Viper? We won't spoil it for you. You'll just have to check out the full clip below for yourself.
