1999 Red Dodge Ram 1500, V8, 4wd, 6 1/2 Ft Bed, Xtra Parts, Towing/brake Package on 2040-cars
Lunenburg, Vermont, United States
This is a nice truck with balls. Has an extended cab with a full back seat and a 6 foot bed with liner. Special brake and tow hitch package for hauling heavy things. Sweet Pioneer CD Player as well. Good running truck, as it starts up on a dime and purrs nicely. Just needs a little TLC. Just replaced the speed sensor in the transmission and front upper and lower ball joints as well. Needs a new front brake line, power steering pump hose, a new battery and a tune-up. Comes with a SPARE Transmission (minus the speed sensor), 2 EXTRA full-sized tires and one spare rim, a box of misc. parts (fuel pump assembly and the thermostat cap and gasket.) "about $150 in spare parts". We need something smaller to get around in, so this is why we are willing to part with this beauty $1750 O.B.O. Any questions about the truck, feel free to contact us. Thank you for your interest. This truck books for around $3000 easily and the spare transmission has only about 20,000 miles on it and is a good working tranny. New tranny's go for $1250+ and used ones for about $500-$600. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CURRENT TRANSMISSION IN THE TRUCK. If you don't want the spare transmission, I will keep it with no problems. The brake line and the power steering hose both need to be fixed to drive her away (she will drive away, just won't stop). Or she can be towed/trucked to the destination as well. The buyer assumes ALL responsibilities in getting the truck to their home. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THIS TRUCK. Grab this up before someone else does!

Old vs. New: 2014 SRT Viper takes on upgraded 16-year-old Dodge Viper
Fri, 08 Feb 2013It's easy to play the "Would you rather have a New X or an Old Y with a bunch of upgrades?" game more often than we care to admit, but the crew at Car and Driver have taken bench racing to the next level with their latest video. In it, the magazine pits a brand-new 2014 SRT Viper against a highly modified 1997 Dodge Viper GTS. There are 16 years between the time this particular GTS rolled off the production line and when the new car bowed, but that doesn't mean the old snake's owners have been sitting on their hands.
Thanks to a spate of modifications, the GTS offers up a better power to weight ratio than the new machine, but is that enough to overcome the technological leap forward represented by the 2014 Viper? We won't spoil it for you. You'll just have to check out the full clip below for yourself.
Chrysler expecting up to 200,000 9-speed transmissions for 3 models this year
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Striving for improved fuel economy, we already knew that Chrysler will begin using a nine-speed automatic transmission in some of its new products this year, but what we haven't known is that volume at which this gearbox will be used. According to Bloomberg, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been quoted as saying that the automaker expects to sell close to 200,000 units equipped with this new transmission in 2013. Those gear-rich trannies will be spread out across three models, consisting of the redesigned Chrysler 200, the still-unnamed Jeep Liberty replacement and the Dodge Dart.
This transmission should play a pivotal role in making Chrysler vehicles more competitive in their respective segments. Just for comparison, one of the Dart's key competitors, the Toyota Corolla, still uses a four-speed automatic, and a previous report indicates that the next-generation 200 could get up to 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is better than most non-hybrid midsize sedans on the market. Marchionne says that the new Jeep model is expected during the second quarter of this year, but there is no word as to when the new 200 or nine-speed Dart will debut, but clearly Dodge would like to have the transmission in its compact yesterday. As for that volume figure, it definitely doesn't seem out of reach since the Dart, Liberty and 200 combined for a total of more than 225,000 units in 2012.
How many more gears can we expect in future cars? Probably not many more, since the CEO of transmission-builder ZF, Stefan Sommer, previously stated that nine speeds was the "natural limit" for transmissions.
Chrysler recalling 700k minivans and Dodge Journey for ignition switch woes
Tue, 01 Jul 2014General Motors isn't the only automaker with ignition switch problems. Chrysler is fighting it too and is now announcing a recall of 695,957 examples worldwide of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2008-2010 model years, plus the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey.
According to a statement from Chrysler, the models have a bad wireless ignition node detent ring in the ignition switch, making it possible for drivers to appear to have the key in the "Run" position but for the spring not to fully engage. It can then slip back to the "Accessory" position and shut the car off. If this happens, the vehicle loses power steering, brake boost and the airbags.
There is some disparity about the number of vehicles affected under this recall. In its statement, Chrysler claims that it covers 525,206 vehicles in the US, 102,892 in Canada, 25,591 in Mexico and 42,268 elsewhere. However, the recall announcement posted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists an estimated 438,109 vehicles in the US. Chrysler spokesperson Nick Cappa told Autoblog via email that the reasoning for the different figures "will become clear at a later date."
