This truck is being sold as a running and driving parts or project truck. I bought it from one of my best friends locally that needed some quick cash. I removed the 4bbl intake and carb for another project and reinstalled a 2bbl intake and carb in it's place. The title is clear with no liens. I have not titled this vehicle to my name as I have no plans of ever driving it. I had planned on parting this truck out but I don't have the time right now. The Virginia title has the printed name and signed named of my friend (the previous owner) that I bought it from. This truck run's and drive's but it has some issues. The 318 has around 7,000 mi. on the rebuild. The engine has developed a "tick" in and around the #4 and #6 cylinder. The truck still has good power and is hitting/firing on all 8 cylinder's. From the sound of it, I suspect a bad piston wrist pin in one of those cylinders. The 2bbl carb cranks the truck when the engine is hot. When cold, the carb must be primed. This is the result of the carb bowl leaking down after sitting for a while. Once it start's it will restart again hot without priming the carb. Rebuild the carb ($65.00 + tax from Advance Auto) and that's that. The cam and lifter's are fresh Lunati items. The cam is mild for pulling.  The clutch has the same mileage as the engine. The clutch is very strong and the pedal is firm. The 4-Speed trans shift's nice with no grinding or anything. The shifter lock ring needs to be secured so the shifter will stay in place. No biggie. The truck has newly dual exhaust (approx. 1 year old) w/ stainless "block hugger" header's and Cherry Bomb glass pack muffler's out back. The truck has the following body part's that are GOOD: Right Fr. Fender, right side door, the Hood, radiator core support, both mirror's are in excellent shape. The grill and headlight trim, the tailgate and all the glass is good. The dash top and glove box are both nice and crack free. The gauges don't work. No radio. There's one decent door panel. The 31x10.50 tire's are mounted on factory Dodge truck alloy wheels. There is some minor frame hack on the top side at the power steering area under the hood. I have no idea why but it's there. The vehicle is safe to drive and the metal can be put back. Again, I purchased this as a clean title part's truck with the intention of dismantling it. This truck can be inpected and driven as is if the new owner choose's to do so. This truck steer's tight and track's straight. The steering shaft is brand new. The running gear of this truck is very good with no knock's or roar's. The rear diff pinion seal needs to be replaced but the gear oil level has been checked regularly. The 4x4 (transfer case) works smoothly. All light's and horn work on this truck. A very good part's mule with ton's of good, usable part's that fit several year's of Dodge truck models including Ramcharger's and Trailduster's. The power steering gearbox alone is worth $300.00 second-hand. Please study the pics and feel free to ask questions. The buyer is solely responsible for the pickup and/or delivery of this vehicle. $250.00 down payment due within 24 hours of making a commitment to buy. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours after that. Paypal preferred. E checks welcome. Check out my other items!!!

Hypermiling a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel to 38.1 mpg

Fri, May 9 2014

You never quite know what Wayne Gerdes has up his sleeve. The man who coined the term hypermiling is always looking for adventurous ways to prove that anyone – even you... yes, you – can eke out more miles per gallon just by changing the way you drive. Saying that is easy. Proving it by going on outlandish cross-country drives is hard. But for Gerdes and his team of fuel economy fiends over at CleanMPG, hard is half the fun. Our latest adventure appeared, at first glance, to be nearly impossible. Which is why we always answer the phone when Gerdes calls. He likes to take journalists along on his drives, not only to try teach us how to hypermile but also to prove that we can be taught. The first time I 'helped' him and his team was when we got over 30 miles per gallon in a 2011 Ford F-150 XLT with the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. The EPA rated that truck with at just 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. So, we'll count that trip as a success. Next up was a cross-country drive last fall in a trio of Audi TDI vehicles to prove that you don't need to drive extra slow to beat the EPA numbers. In fact, we made it from Los Angeles to New York City in just over 46 hours, cramped but not cranky. We had once again proven that how you drive is hugely important to your fuel usage. Our latest adventure appeared, at first glance, to be nearly impossible. The EPA says that the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel we would be driving gets just 22 combined mpg (19 city and 27 highway). Gerdes' idea was to drive it as far north from Houston, TX towards Detroit, MI as we could go on one tank. The day before we left, our itinerary got an extra stop. Instead of taking one of the official Shell Eco-marathon prototype vehicles to Detroit, it was decided to bring the winning diesel-powered prototype from the just-finished event to The Henry Ford Museum, where it had been arranged the car would be displayed. The winning car was built by a small team (just four students) from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, IN, who managed to beat a number of college teams with a score of 1,899.32 mpg. That target would be a bit out of reach for the Ram, but could we get 1,000 miles from the tank? Since the truck has a 26 gallon tank (officially, anyway), that would mean the EPA says we could only go 702 miles, assuming all highway driving. Could we make up 300 miles with careful driving? That spells both challenge and fun.

Jay Leno drives the Demon-powered SpeedKore carbon fiber Dodge Charger

Wed, Mar 13 2019

Jay Leno drives all sorts of wild vehicles on his TV and YouTube series "Jay Leno's Garage," from concept cars to classics. Although many of the vehicles are museum quality, they don't all come through in straight by-the-book factory form, as Leno often likes to highlight the creative and insane builds from premium speciality aftermarket shops. One of his favorites is SpeedKore, which recently dropped by with its carbon-fiber-bodied 1970 Dodge Charger Evolution. After cementing itself as one of the best builds of the year at SEMA 2018, the high-performance Charger paid Leno a visit to show off its immaculately assembled blend of classic and modern Dodge. It's not the first time SpeedKore has stopped by, as they've previously shot videos together of the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, and the 1970 Dodge Charger Tantrum. The Charger featured here wears its Evolution name because it is an updated take on the Tantrum build (which had 1,650 horsepower, by the way), but the two are quite different. The Charger Evolution uses numerous parts from Dodge's recent superstars, the Challenger SRT Hellcat and the Challenger SRT Demon. In fact, it's one of the only ways in the world to drive a Demon engine with a manual transmission. Under the hood is the 6.2L Supercharged Hemi V8 from a Demon pre-production car, and SpeedKore has tuned it up to 966 horsepower. It pairs with a Tremec M6 6060 six-speed transmission from the Hellcat. At full bore, the whine of the supercharger paired with the grumble from the custom stainless steel SpeedKore exhaust headers makes for a thrilling, if not unharmonized, battle cry. Whereas some restomods have cut corners, shoddy build quality, or imperfect fittings, Leno notes that SpeedKore's work is top-notch, despite the entire exterior body and many pieces of the interior being fully replaced with glossy clear-coated exposed carbon fiber. According to SpeedKore Vice President Dave Salvaggio, the Charger weighs about 3,400 pounds. Check out the full video above or read full details from our time with the car at SEMA. And as a bonus, Autoblog photographer Drew Phillips recently got to spend a day shooting the Charger. His gallery of photos appears below. Speedkore 1970 Dodge Charger View 53 Photos

2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is getting a meaner hood

Wed, May 2 2018

Though we weren't really worried Dodge would discontinue it, we're glad to hear the Dodge Challenger Hellcat will continue into the 2019 model year. It's also getting some updates for the new year, as shown in these teasers from Dodge. The biggest one we can see is the hood, which trades the relatively subtle center scoop and dual heat extractors for a pair of big angry nostrils. Dodge says the twin hood scoops are a throwback to past Dodge performance models, take the Dart Swinger, for example. They also bring to mind some mid- to late-2000s Pontiacs, but we'll try to focus on the classic Mopars. A little bit of Photoshop work helps highlight some other aspects of the 2019 Challenger Hellcat. The Hellcat Widebody will clearly continue for the new year, too, as the vehicle in the teaser image has the bulging arches found on that Challenger as well as the one-year-only Demon. We can also make out five-spoke wheels that may have split spokes. Most of the body looks like the current model, too, so we don't expect any major changes to the chassis or powertrain. The only other information Dodge revealed about the 2019 Challenger is that more information will come this summer. So expect to hear more in just a few months.
