1973 Dodge D100 Adventurer pickup. Originally sold new in North Carolina. Have original sales receipt. Pickup is extremely solid and virtually rust free. As you can see in the pictures there is minor rust in the rear wheel housings beginning to show. Truck is solid outside and underneath. Appears to have had a topper on most of it's life as the bed is in really nice condition as well. Looks like one cheap repaint years ago, close to factory medium blue color. The paint would buff out to an acceptable shine but again its an older cheap paint job but at least the truck has paint on it to start with which GasMonkey would call "good vintage patina"..  Truck came equipped new with 360 2bbl engine, 727 transmission and A/C so has the heavy duty radiator and fan shroud cooling. 8 3/4 read end with 3.23 suregrip, power steering and power front disc brakes and factory front sway bar.. Truck has 112k original miles. The original engine ran fine but needed the freeze plugs replaced and several of the gasket seals such as intake end seals, rear main, oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets etc replaced as I believe these were still the originals. As I had a freshly rebuilt 1976 360 engine in my possession that I had rebuilt (.040 over)  I installed it in the truck. Rebuilt engine has new oil pump, crankshaft is .010/.010 with Sealer Power main and rod bearings, heads completely redone with new valve guides, stock replacement 1.88/1.60 valves, new valve springs and valve locks, new rocker arms and shafts. Camshaft is an Edelbrock Performer Plus with Cloyes double roller timing chain, with Edelbrock Performer intake and Edelbrock 500 cfm electric choke, new fuel pump, new water pump etc. If you have ever built or priced an engine build you get the idea of value here. Valve covers are a set of somewhat rare Chrysler Direct Connection pieces that I thought would compliment the blue fresh engine. Engine is painted Chrysler corporate blue which is the correct color. Engine runs very strong with excellent torque. Hedman headers and brand new exhaust with turbo mufflers. Truck is not load but still has a little bit of an "attitude" sound. 727 transmission was rebuild right before I purchased the truck and shifts firmly. The original A/C equipment will go with the truck. I installed new front calipers, replaced the pads and rebuilt the rear brakes with new wheel cylinders and shoes. The front steering suspension is tight, all 4 tires are basically new and the truck goes down the road smoothly. It's actually fun to drive but given the early and brutal winter we received in Wisconsin this year I have not had much chance to drive it since completion, maybe 100 miles before winter hit. I will answer any legitimate and realistic questions you have on the truck, but if you win the auction it will be your responsibility to get it to where-ever you live. Truck could be driven anywhere as well if that is what your plan is. Truck is stored inside at a friends garage so if you request addition pictures I can get them but it may take a day or so to do so.  If paying the required deposit via Paypal you pay the fees, or send as a gift. A non-refundable down payment of $250 is expected within 24 hours of winning the auction. Remainder of payment in 7 days via certified bank check, cashiers check or cash. If you don't have your moms or wifes approval please don't bid. If you want to pay me $1 million dollars to send the truck to Africa please don't bid.  Again if you have any questions ask first before bidding. Thank you for looking.

Chrysler patents smarter minivan folding seats

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

It's frightening to think of how quickly the mice would have overtaken us if we hadn't stayed one step ahead of them with better mousetraps. We'll never have to worry about that in our relentlessly re-engineered world, though. Case in point: Chrysler has been granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for an improved design of the already wondrous Stow 'n' Go seating found in the automaker's Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.
Introduced in 2005, the Stow 'n' Go was improved in 2008, and based on the drawings of this third-generation improvement, the new design appears to allow stowage of the second row of seats without having to move the front-row seats forward as much. It look like it also involves fewer operations and moving parts, with a portion of the seatback being incorporated into the flat floor when the seats are stowed, as opposed to having a completely separate cover.
It's possible that the innovation may appear on the next-generation minivans expected in 2015, but Chrysler isn't commenting on the patent.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Dodge engineers trying to shoehorn Pentastar into Dart?

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

The fact that the Dart's launch has been a pretty dismal affair isn't what we'd call secret. Judging by its mounting inventories and poor critical reception, Dodge's successor to its unloved Caliber has struggled since it hit the market. And while both of those are difficult problems to address, at least their cause is well known - the powertrain.
Even Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has acknowledged that the powertrain options in the Dart are substandard, admitting at January's Detroit Auto Show that the powertrains are "less than ideal." Leading with the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder found in the Fiat 500 Abarth left a bad taste in the mouths of consumers thanks to the laggy engine and dead throttle response (to say nothing of the manual and dual-clutch gearboxes that needed more refinement). The addition of the 184-horsepower 2.4-liter Tigershark in the Dart GT has helped matters some, but apparently Auburn Hills doesn't think it's quite enough.
If rumors are to be believed - get that salt ready - a possible solution may be in the works. A report from Allpar is claiming that Dodge is considering fitting a Pentastar V6 into the Dart's engine bay. As the Mopar-obsessed website points out, the critically acclaimed Pentastar is available in three different sizes - 3.0 liters, 3.2 liters and the original 3.6 liters. We don't get the 3.0 here in the US, but the 3.2 can be found in the new Jeep Cherokee and the 3.6 has been seemingly fitted to every model Chrysler can shoehorn it into.
