First lets have an understanding, I am not nor have I ever been nor do I claim to be a  a Mopar expert, I just like the cars and have owned them since the sixties. Purchased my first Mopar a Barracuda Formula S fastback with a 4 speed, felt great to drive then but now these cars do not feel modern, we all know that. So if there is any misinformation in my listing it is not intentional, nor is there any attempt to defraud anyone who might be interested in my car. I bought it because I liked the look, the color and  I have always liked small block Mopars as opposed to big blocks which so many collectors seem to prefer. Some of the information was passed on from the previous owner who I tended to believe and hopefully you will make your own judgment based on what you see here and any questions you would like to send me thru ebay messaging. So here it is, what I believe to be true and what I have observed myself as a collector, NOT a mechanic, NOT a body man, NOT a car flipper by any means nor a "used car salesman".

I don't know about you but I have never seen another Magnum 340 which I believe by default makes it a Rallye as well. The car has Magnum 500 wheels in decent condition with no rust, the car body has no obvious rust nor any rust that I can observe myself, some bondo of course, but what 40+ year old unrestored American car under twenty grand is not going to have some? The trunk floor is very solid as are the floors, see the pics, the trunk floor after some surface rust removal and a repaint will look new. Some plugs needed for all those unidentified holes. Have a bumper jack with lug wrench, the original fan shroud and the original 73 Tail lights in good condition as can be seen in the photos. Bumpers have brand new chrome, I wanted the bumperettes removed and the holes filled but the body shop failed to carry out my request to do so, so they do not look as good. Paint is pretty good, smooth, no orange peel I can see, couple of chips at the edges but all in all I would rate it a 7-8 on a scale of 1-10. Has machine gun exhausts, traction bars, new pistol grip plastic fake wood grips, hidden headlites and 1972 tail lights with the original 1973's in the trunk included with the car. Also have a second steering wheel in better condition that is included and a chrome air cleaner with the 340 designation. All very pretty and ready to put on. I just liked the 1972 tail lights better, easily changed back.

Engine is strong, I believe it is numbers matching, the seller told me it was and also made the claim the rest of the drivetrain is also original. Four barrel carb, high output engine feels very strong. With only five digits there is no way to know what the actual mileage is with no real long term history with the car. I think the build sheet from under the rear seat is available as is the owners manual. See the fender tag photo below for more specifics on the original build specs, the options do include the pistol grip four speed, console, power bulge hood, magnum wheels with good rubber, nothing needed there and it also has factory air conditioning which is not currently working but might just need a recharge. A/C system does appear to be complete.

The Vehicle Identification Number is WH23H3A155409 and decodes as follows:

Model:  Dodge Charger or Coronet         -- W

Price Class: High                                     --  H

Body Type:  2 door hardtop                     -- 23

Engine:  340ci V8 4sbbl HP (LA motor) -- H

Year:  1973                                               -- 3

Assembly Plant:  Lynch Road, MI           -- A

Sequence Number:                                    -- 155409

I believe this makes it a relatively rare model of a car that is one of the last of the breed, a large two door high performance coupe muscle car. The car is, simply put: big, beautiful, long, elegant, low and loud. I would change the mufflers to something not so loud were I to keep the car. Various sources indicate the car could be one of 91 with the 340 4 speed pistol grip, even rarer by color but I cannot substantiate that, so please do your own research. Check the close up of the fender tag and decode it on one of the many sites that allow you to do so. I have done it myself but in case I am mistaken I prefer you do it for yourself. Again, not a Mopar guru or anything like it. All in all the car drives well FOR AN OLD AMERICAN CAR, they do not feel like modern cars nor will they without extensive modifications to suspension and steering, that's just a given. So bid with confidence that you are buying a good driver that I BELIEVE is all original and solid. I have due to the recent onset of back caused physical limitations I have not been able to drive it very far but my impression is that it is a good, solid, fast, sweet ride you can enjoy while it appreciates. The Generation 2 Chargers are becoming out of reach just like the E Bodies did, so buy now and enjoy while it makes you money.

Upholstery is new, front seat covers are new and rears look nearly new, carpets are new, sill plates are new, headliner is new, sun visors are in good kit, but dash has a couple of cracks that should be easily repaired by a good vinyl repairman. Lots car collectors don't seem to realize that there are people out there, some of them very good who repair vinyl dashes right in the car. You just have to do some research and find a good one locally. Please see the pics and bid with confidence. I have driven the car very little but what impression I am left with is that this will make someone a really fun car that should be well sorted and ready to drive. If you can manage it you should come look at it yourself, I am west of Fort Collins, CO in the foothills and can provide info thru ebay messaging. So good luck and have fun bidding, the reserve is very reasonable and well within the means of most Mopar lovers/collectors.

Transport is the sole responsibility of the buyer but I will help wherever possible given my current physical limitations. I do have back problems which are part of the reason for selling the car, that and I have way too many other cars including another 67 Formula S Barracuda fastback, just had to have one more Mopar! I have tried very hard to make it clear that the car is sold as is where is with no warranty offered, given, implied nor possible. ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, CAR IS SOLD AS IS WHERE IS, PERIOD, END!! I am not a Mopar expert, do not even know where to look for the engine number frankly and have described the car to the best of my ability! Bottom line as I see it, this is a good solid car sold by an honest seller who can no longer work on his own cars. A paypal or wire transfer of a non refundable deposit of at least 15% of the selling price is due within 48 hours of auction's end. Payment can be only be made by a bank wire transfer or cash in person. Absolutely no paper of any kind accepted in payment unless it is green and considered legal tender in the USA. I will send the buyer the clear title by priority mail with 2-3 day delivery as soon as full payment is confirmed.

This is a legally binding contract, so if you bid and win and do not pay for it in a timely manner any and all legal means will be used to make certain the winning bidder pays for the car in the time allotted in the auction description. So bottom line people, if you cannot pay or do not want the car DO NOT BID. Do not bid after having a few drinks and claim it was unintentional, this is a binding contract that will be enforced by whatever legal means become necessary. I am glad you understand my position on this, so lets remain friends and bid ONLY if you can and will pay for the car and come to get it or have it transported within a reasonable time. I can keep it safe on my property until it is picked up for a reasonable amount of time, I do know a retired fellow who is a friend and can move the car on a single car trailer within almost anywhere in the Cont'l USA. He is reliable, fast and totally honest. He transports virtually all of my car purchases and most of my sales. However, it is still the buyers responsibility to arrange for shipping or transport.

25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.

Dodge Durango to stay classy with Ron Burgundy as spokesperson [w/video]

Sat, 05 Oct 2013

The upcoming 2014 Dodge Durango has a lot of things going for it, including its 290-horsepower V6 and 360-hp Hemi V8 engine options, an eight-speed automatic and aggressive looks. And now it will have Ron Burgundy, the fictional television news anchor played by comedian Will Ferrell, as a spokesperson, Adweek reports. He follows in the footsteps of other non-fictional Chrysler brand spokespeople such as Eminem, Clint Eastwood and the late Paul Harvey.
Though the star of 2004's Anchorman and the upcoming Anchorman 2 is wildly popular, we're not sure we see a Dodge spokesperson in Burgundy. (Please, no womanizing or scotchy, scotch, scotch before test test drives). But at this point there's no turning back: Chrysler's chief marketing officer Olivier Francois previewed three ad spots at the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) Masters of Marketing conference in Phoenix on Friday, and says Chrysler has already filmed 68(!) Durango ads with the fictional newsman.
According to Adweek, one of the ads previewed had Burgundy highlighting the SUV's glovebox size, and in another he compared its horsepower to a white horse standing next to him. Will this help Dodge Durango sales improve? We can only wait and see. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts in Comments, and check out the trailer for Anchorman 2 below.
