For sale is a rare B5Blue 1971 Dodge Charger RT that is a 100% virgin rust free car ready for you to assemble. All metal has been dipped and epoxy primed and then top coated for assembly with DuPont single stage. I have owned this car for over 20 yrs and have meticulously disassembled and rebuilt every aspect of it with every intension of finishing it, I simply have too many projects. There's too much to list but I will touch upon some important aspects. This is an original B5Blue / B7Blue / black vinyl top car. 440 magnum with 727 trans. I had the broadcast sheet and fender tags decoded by Galen Govier proving this is an original N96 Ram Charger hood car. Current engine and trans were used in my other Charger for 1 summer and are 1972 castings. Engine has all forged internals with upgraded oil pick and pan, Edelbrock aluminum heads and complete 1970 six pack. Trans has been rebuilt using TCI internals. Front suspension is rebuilt with all new parts and Steer Gear box, rear has new SS Mopar springs and rebuilt 3:55 suregrip. Newer ralley wheels with custom 8 inch rear rims and BF Goodrich tires. Interior plastic and dash (no cracks) have been redyed the correct color, new carpet and front seat covers included. I have the original ralley dash, radio and working cassette player, new NOS Mopar wheel lip chrome still in package and exhaust pipes with tips. 2 sets of glass and new RT tail light lens's. Everything needed to put car together and numerous extra parts all in very good condition. All the hard work done just needs to be assembled with your personal touch. I tried to be as honest and fair as possible, please ask any questions or for additional photos before bidding. Things that I do not have are radiator, driveshaft, rear seat covers, headliner, tuff wheel and torque converter. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time for any reason. Help us decipher the cryptic license plate on the latest Dodge Demon teaser
Thu, Jan 26 2017If you've been following along, you know that the slow rollout of the Dodge Demon has been filled with hints and teasers of what's to come. Every release encourages fans to watch the videos over and over to try and catch any hidden info. Last week, brief a glimpse of the wheels in a video hinted at this week's reveal, 18x11 inch lightweight wheels wrapped in what the DOT barely considers street-legal rubber. Along with details on the custom Nitto tires, Dodge released an image of the Demon in all its wide-body glory. Planted on the back of the car is a cryptic Michigan license plate that reads #2567@35. It's obvious that this is another clue, but after a few hours of note taking, Google searches, and general discussion, we can't figure out what it means. We're throwing this out there in the hope that someone has better luck than we did. Here are some of the things we've ruled out: Address or coordinates 1/4 mile ET 1/4 mile trap speed Power Supercharger boost pressure Some event in 1982 A hint at gear or final drive ratio If you have some idea, post it in the comments. Dodge to reveal Hellcat-powered Challenger in Detroit?
Fri, 10 Jan 2014On top of all the other performance car debuts slated for next week's Detroit Auto Show, we might be able to add one more to the list - the new, supercharged Hellcat V8 from Chrysler. According to new reports, the rumored 640-horsepower mill is likely to cross the Motor City stage in the engine bay of a Dodge Challenger.
As AllPar points out, though, there may be more news than just the fire-breathing engine. While we've seen spy photos of the Hellcat testing under the hood of the current Challenger, there's a very fair chance that it won't arrive until the muscle car is refreshed later this year. The question now is whether that refresh will be shown off alongside the new engine in Detroit, or if it'll be saved, perhaps for the New York Auto Show.
Other details dug up by AllPar include potential transmissions for the supercharged engine - the Mopar-minded site is expecting an eight-speed automatic or a Tremec six-speed manual. Prices, meanwhile, could be in the same elevated range as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, at $70,000 to $80,000.
MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
