Clean Cream 1976 Datsun 280z Rare Automatic Stock on 2040-cars
Redlands, California, United States

A beautiful example of 1970's style and legendary Japanese engineering, this 1976 Datsun 280z, finished in its original cream coat, has stood the test of time. After 38 years, this Datsun will still turn heads and put a smile on any driver. This car drives like brand new and does everything a modern car does, but with far more style and character. Highway driving is no problem, and navigating the city is a breeze thanks to the buttery smooth 2.8 L inline six. The engine makes a great sound as it pulls through the rare three speed factory automatic. The break pedal is precise and stopping is no problem at all thanks to recently flushing the brake system and topping it off with fresh fluid. Other recent updates to car are a Pioneer head unit with aux in, AM FM radio, and CD capabilities, two speakers mounted behind the seats (easily removable if so desired), a brand new Grant racing steering wheel (original included), new carpeting, headliner, and chrome side-view mirrors which complement the car very nicely. Also included are aftermarket floor mats, and a drivers seat cover. This car has been loved and well looked after, but being that it is a drivers car, it has also been driven, so there are some small signs of its age outside and inside the car.

Datsun to unveil second model later this month
Sun, 08 Sep 2013Datsun, Nissan's new sub-brand for emerging markets, has announced plans to unveil its second model. Its first, the Go, was unveiled almost two months ago, and promised affordable, connected motoring for five in a handsome hatchback body. Datsun is following that up with a pair of new models for Indonesia.
The first of these two new vehicles will be shown on September 17 in Jakarta, eschewing the typical auto show debut. It's targeted at so-called "risers," the nickname for a group of highly aspirational customers in the Indonesian market. Datsun developed it locally with help from Nissan, and it'll cost under 100 million Indonesian rupiah (about $8,900 at today's rates).
We'll have the full boatload of information on the newest member of the Datsun family when it debuts on September 17. Scroll on to read the full press release from Datsun.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.
