Minor bug/pebble chips on front around headlights, two scratches on rear bumper from loading trunk. No road rash on wheels. No tear or wear on any interior surface. Spot on trunk carpet lost some fiber (see picture)."

This auction is for one of the rarest PT Cruisers made, it is #1026 of 1543 made and is the only year that Chrysler used the convertible for one of their Dream Cruiser Series #1-5. This is the only time that the Deep Lava Red Pearlcoat paint was used and the only time the matching cloth top was used on a convertible or wagon. The 15 spoke cast wheels were the only wheels available on this edition and there is no road/curb rash on any of them. Chrysler used the Dream Cruisers to honor the annual Woodward Ave. Street Cruise Car Show and limited production to bring customers into the local showroom. They loaded these cars with the best they had to offer and every option they could stick on them.

In 2005 this car sold for over $30K, not just the window sticker, the actual selling price ( I have the original Sales Contract). I am the second owner, when I bought the car I was given the owner's file with all his maintenance records, oil changes, etc. The car was delivered new by Norman Chrysler-Plymouth in Norman, OK. The original owners used it as a "fun car" at their lake house in Eastern Oklahoma and traded it in at  small local dealer for a more "practical" car.

I bought this car because my wife liked it, she has driven it twice in 9 months and it has gone less than 400 miles since we brought it to Texas. It has not been driven in the snow (pretty rare around here) or the rain while we've had it. I'm all for keeping everyone happy but it is time for this car to find someone who is going to drive it and enjoy it. The car is as clean as it looks in the pictures, it has some road chips in the front from having been driven and there are 2 scratches (touched up) on the rear bumper where something was dragged out of the trunk. The tires are like new Pirellis at all 4 corners. We have both keys and remotes along with the Dream Cruiser floor mats and Dream Cruiser Series 4 embossed folder for the Owner's Manual and the other factory books. All maintenance records go with the car. The front bumper has not been drilled for a front plate so it is still intact. The factory convertible boot cover is still in its original plastic bag with the installation instructions inside.

This is a  opportunity to get a very rare, limited production car, unmolested fun to drive car. Both this car's were/are close to retirement and the condition reflects it. My loss will be your gain.

This is a used car and all warranties are expired. I will accept, cash, cashiers/bank check (will verify), wire transfer or PayPal, no personal checks.

Please contact me if any questions or additional info. needed. Good Bidding! No Reserve!

Chrysler to veer away from 'Imported From Detroit' message?

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

Claim some ground, control that ground and then expand. Chrysler, wandering the Earth like Kane from Kung-Fu when it came to brand message after the bailouts, pulled off the first two feats in only 120 seconds when its "Imported from Detroit" commercial aired during the 2011 Super Bowl. Two years later and now that the brand has a center in the minds of consumers, the Chrysler Group's head of marketing, Olivier Francois, says it's time to move away from the "Detroit" component of that slogan and express the "Imported" aspect.
It is, more precisely, about positioning Chrysler as genuine competition for imports and not Ford or General Motors, but rather Toyota on quality or Audi on technology. A report in Forbes said that Francois not only "wants to attract import owners to Chrysler vehicles by focusing on quality, technology, fuel economy and style," but to "take back the lead in these four things." That is the new understanding he wants people to infer from the idea of Detroit - that the nation's car capital isn't just a patriotic rallying point but a lively competitor for established giants.
Chrysler has been running ads that no longer refer to Detroit, and recent efforts have linked a specific character to each brand - like Jenny with Jeep and Steven with the Chrysler 300 - to create brand separation. Francois hasn't detailed what he plans to do to bolster Chrysler's upscale pretensions, but his efforts would be helped by CEO Sergio Marchionne loosing the pursestrings and the arrival of strong new product.

Chrysler earns $1.7B in 2012, revises product plans for US

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Hot on the heels of Ford's earnings announcement for the year that was, Chrysler today reported a 2012 net income of $1.7 billion, up substantially from the comparatively minuscule $183 million profit earned in 2011 when it repaid its US government loans.
Chrysler's good year ended with an excellent fourth quarter that saw net income rise 68 percent from $225 million in 2011 to $378 million. Where are all those extra earnings coming from? Market share, which Chrysler saw increase to 11.4% last year on sales of 1.65 million vehicles. In fact, the Auburn Hills, MI-based automaker out-paced the industry's market growth of 13 percent last year with sales up 21 percent for the year.
The company also revealed an updated product plan for its Chrysler Group and Fiat brands that looks all the way out to 2016. It's an updated version of the plan introduced in 2009 shortly after Fiat took control of the American automaker, and includes such new additions as an Alfa Romeo model, likely the 4C, to be introduced in the US this year, as well five more Alfa models by 2016. Likewise, Fiat will be growing by an additional seven models in the coming few years.

Move over Audi, now Chrysler has a beef with Tesla's claims

Thu, 23 May 2013

In the same week that Audi said "not so fast" to some claims from Tesla, Chrysler has responded to a new press release from the California-based EV-maker by saying "not exactly, Tesla." The statement, released through the company's blog, comes in response to Tesla claiming it was "the only American car company to have fully repaid the government." Chrysler notes that it, too, recently paid back Uncle Sam from its 2008 bailout. Similar to Audi's recent press release, which was eventually and mysteriously deleted from the German automaker's site, Chrysler is both right and wrong in its statement.
Tesla specifically said that it had paid back the Department of Energy loans that many automakers received - including Fisker and VPG Autos - while Chrysler's retort argues Tesla is "unmistakably incorrect" since it repaid the government in 2011 a full six years early. Technically, the statements from both automakers are correct, but Tesla's startup loan originated from the DoE, while Chrysler's loan came in bailout form from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Further, as The Detroit News notes, Chrysler's loan still cost taxpayers well over a billion dollars after all was said and done - those negative assets tied to "old Chrysler" in the bankruptcy did not require repayment.
