This auction is for a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS 4WD with the 5.3 engine.  I am the 3rd owner and I bought it from an elderly lady in our church who wanted to get something smaller when her husband passed away - they took very good care of the vehicle.  I am moving and need a different kind of vehicle for where I am moving to.  The Suburban has almost 174,000 miles on it but everything works...including the AC.  The only things wrong are: 1) a couple of wear through spots on the carpet, 2) the LS logos are missing from the side of the vehicle, 3) the factory aluminum rims show normal age wear, 4) the tires have some weather cracking but have lots of good tread, and 5) there is a small dent in the rear passenger fender towards the bottom (see picture).  It is a very dependable vehicle - I have driven it from Iowa to Ohio and from Iowa to California already in 2013 without any problems.  The front seats are bucket seats so it is a 8 passenger with the typical Suburban rear seat configuration.  The CD player, AC and rear AC all work.  It leaks nothing.  Within the last 10,000 miles it has had front brakes installed and GM front axle seals professionally installed.  I used the 4WD once this winter when I needed to get out of my snowy drive and it worked perfectly.   I will accept PayPal, certified check or money order BUT NO PERSONAL CHECKS.  I might even be able to help with delivery but contact me about this before bidding.  Check out my feedback and know you can bid with confidence.

All four tires are identical. The Suburban also has a trailer hitch and round electric connector. The previous owner used to be a farmer and had the OEM mufflers replaced on all his vehicles with a glass pack muffler, so it has a healthy but quiet rumble.

Chevrolet planning low-cost Corvette under Stingray?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

If you're burnt out on musings about the Chevrolet Corvette, you'll want to go ahead and skip this post. Motor Trend reports General Motors is hard at work on a low-cost version of the seventh-generation sports car for 2015. Rumored to be called the Corvette Coupe, the car will forgo the Stingray and skip the 450-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with under 400 ponies. If you're keeping track, that's a shade of the same engine found behind the headlights of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
The report also suggests the Coupe will receive a number of aesthetic tweaks to separate it from the Stingray, including different front and rear fascias as well as new front fenders and a rear diffuser. Motor Trend says the point of all this is to cut the car's price tag, which means we may see a Corvette on showroom floors for less than $50,000 if this car comes to fruition.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.
