Up for auction is this 1998 Chevrolet truck. I don't need it anymore as I have another vehicle. Truck has 232k miles on the body, and from the previous owner it has 63k miles on the purchased new from the factory 5.7L motor, as well as 63k miles on the crate transmission.  Runs great, starts nice and easy every time.

Mild modifications; New Magnaflow cat-less exhaust ( Check engine light is on due to there being no cats. I've had it scanned on a computer several times to verify. ) ran from the headers back a couple months ago. K&N air intake, lowered several inches with real shocks, no haggard set up with lowering blocks. Has Power Steering/Power Windows/Power Locks, heat and A/C, though A/C needs to be recharged. Haven't bothered recharging it myself because because I like the windows down.

It has the third door, but I cannot get it to open anymore. Window tint all the way around, no bubbling or peeling. Recently had 2 new Sony Xplode speakers installed in each door. Everything works as it should (besides A/C). Interior is in decent condition. Headliner is falling slightly in a couple places, nothing annoying or major. Seats are clean, no rips or cuts. Typical age from getting in and out shows.

Exterior is okay. Tail gate is functional, but has a dent in the lower right corner from previous owner. Driver side passenger door has a slightly long L shaped crack in the paint, but it doesn't effect the overall integrity. Driver side rear quarter panel above the tire has a dent, but it's not major and could be easily fixed. Body is basically in "truck" condition, but a little better. Vehicle has been smoked in. Few scratches here and there, could use a buffing. But overall still a good looking truck.

New tires all the way around, a little over 1,000 miles. New brake rotors and pads installed recently. In the time that I've owned it, I've maintained it well as I do with all my vehicles. Oil changed a little over 1,000 miles ago, coolant flushed and replaced. I had the tires balanced and rotated a few months ago and at that time I asked my mechanic to examine it for any issues he may see. The only thing he came across was the driver side ball joint being a little loose. He said it wasn't major, and I haven't had the time or extra money to repair something that isn't major. I personally have driven the truck over 1,000 miles after I was notified and haven't had any odd issues. This is a very reliable and solid truck, and if I didn't need the money I would keep it and drive it for another 10 years.

If you cannot pick up locally, having it shipped is solely the buyers responsibility. Truck is sold as is.

New recall issued in 2019 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra brake software saga

Tue, Feb 11 2020

General Motors (GM) has issued a new recall for select 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks that aims to resolve a faulty fix for a previous recall. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign No. 20V055000, a software update for the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) could cause the electronic brake assist to be disabled.  The NHTSA first launched a recall for 463,995 Silverados, Sierras, and Cadillac CT6es on December 12, 2019 due to a software issue in the electronic brake control module (EBCM) that could disable the electronic stability control (ESC) and anti-lock braking system (ABS). As a response and resolution to that recall, GM began to reprogram the software in affected vehicles. GM later learned that the fix was creating a different problem. The installed software had its own error that was disabling the electronic brake assist. If customers see “Service Brake Assist” or “Service ECS" diagnostic warnings, they should park the vehicle and have it towed to a dealership, GM warns. While GM was going through the process of testing, pinpointing the issue, determining action and working with the NHTSA, safety experts have criticized Chevrolet and GMC for not reacting promptly and appropriately.  According to the recall, 148,055 are now affected, all of which do not meet the standards of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems." To fix the braking issue, GM will once again reprogram the software. GM began notifying owners of the recall on February 10, 2020. Related Video:

Camo'd Chevy Camaro ZL1 is one bad boy

Tue, Sep 15 2015

Thanks to a fresh gallery of spy shots, we're getting a much better look at the next Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 during its development, and this machine is looking seriously mean. Unlike the last photos, the heavy cladding is gone from the body this time and is replaced by a camouflage wrap. That switch makes checking out the details a whole lot easier. The first thing you'll notice at the front is the massive grille that looks ready to devour anything that gets in the way. To add a little more menace, the lower air dam appears to jut out a bit more, as well. While harder to see in these latest shots, our spies say the hood still boasts an extractor similar to what's found on the Cadillac CTS-V. The big, double spoke wheels look great in black and really dominate the styling in profile. Look past them, and you notice some tweaked side sills, as well. At the very back, you can also spot some styling adjustments to the rear bumper. There's an unmissable wing back there, too. The powerplant for the ZL1 is still a mystery, but it's rumored to use the LT4 6.2-liter supercharged V8. The similar hood design as the CTS-V is one piece of evidence to support that. Even with the same engine, Chevy's engineers could tweak the output higher or lower than the Caddy. The wait to find out isn't too long because the ZL1 is anticipated to launch for the 2017 model year. Related Video:

2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax makes 369 lb-ft for $3,730 premium

Tue, Jul 28 2015

Since announcing the new Chevrolet Colorado in late 2013, there has been absolutely no secret that the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel would wind up under the hood of the midsize pickup truck for the 2016 model year. It has been a long wait for those wanting the oil-burner, but thankfully, the anticipation is nearly at an end. Chevy is finally officially unleashing details about the four-cylinder, which churns out 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The diesel is available in both LT and Z71 Crew Cab trims, and there's the choice of two- or four-wheel drive. All come with a six-speed automatic gearbox with a standard automatic-locking rear differential. An electronically controlled two-speed transfer case comes on four-wheel drive models, as well. The Z82 trailering package also arrives on all of the Duramax pickups and includes an exclusive integrated trailer brake controller. The first shipment of diesels arrives at dealers this fall with a price of $3,730 on top of a comparably equipped version with the 3.6-liter V6. Customers opting for the Duramax are getting more capability from the Colorado. With a 7,700-pound tow rating on two-wheel drive examples (7,600 pounds with four-wheel drive), drivers can haul 600-700 pounds more behind the truck than its petrol V6 counterpart. Fuel economy numbers haven't been announced yet, but are expected to top the gasoline versions. The engine is also B20 bio-diesel compatible. Beyond being just a good hauler, Chevy is throwing cutting-edge tech into these models. For example, this is the company's first application of a Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber on the transmission's torque converter. The device is a dampener that cancels out torsional vibration from the engine for a more comfortable ride for occupants. There's also a driver selectable exhaust brake system that uses engine compression to help slow down the truck and reduce brake wear. You can read more about the nuts and bolts of the diesel in Chevy's press release below.
