Up for sale is my S-10 Pro-Street Blazer. It has a 383 Stroker motor with a TH-400 trans with a switch pitch converter. A button on the shifter selects either 2000 or 4000 stall. It has a Ford 9in. rear with 4.10 gears, posi and disk brakes. It has 2in. drop spindles on the front. The body is in good condition. There is a small rust spot just behind the drivers side rear wheel and a couple small dings but the doors shut solid. The electric windows work well and the car sits very nice. The interior is very nice. The Cyber-Dyne instrument panel lights up but I have not tried the stereo. As you can see from the pictures the front clip is off the car. The previous owner was going to put a fiberglas front end on it. I was planning on a 2in. cowl . I do have all the original parts. Including  a Griffin aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and separate trans cooler. Because of  a lot of different reasons the car had to sit for several years. During that time mud dauber wasps set up home inside the engine. That is in two of the cylinder bores. Which is why the engine is apart. I was hoping I could use a hand hone to clean the bore but now I think it would be better to remove the block and machine hone the cylinders. The previous owner told me the engine has less than 500 miles on it.  The engine is still very tight with no ridge in any of the cylinders. The car was originally built as a high 9 low 10 second street car using a Pro charger so the bottom end is very well built. It's a full roller motor with Speed Pro roller lifters and Lunati rockers. It comes with brand new cnc'd Pro Comp aluminum heads with guides and stud girdles. A new Holley Street Avenger 770 carb. All polished billet brackets, valve covers, breathers and pulleys. A new chrome alternator. A new water pump and chrome air cleaner. New gaskets and stainless socket head hardware. There is also a very well built set of tri-y headers. It has a Victor Jr intake. This set up should get 500 hp. Now for the reasons I'm not doing it myself. First is a 1988 Mustang GT and the other is a 1970 SS396 Nova race car. Both run but both are very needy. Anyway the Blazer is an excellent car that for a bit of time and effort should be an absolute beast on the street.  E-mail any questions or if you want to talk I can give you my phone number. Also because of the amount of loose parts every thing can not be packed inside the car for shipping.

LG Chem ready to double workforce at plant that makes Volt batteries

Fri, May 15 2015

With a history that involves paying people not to work, the fact that LG Chem is going to hire more people for its electric-vehicle battery plant in Holland, Michigan is good news on a couple fronts for the Korean company. The South Korea-based LG Chem is holding a job fair at the factory about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids. The company wants to double its workforce this year to "several hundred people." LG Chem, whose factory notably makes the cells for General Motors' Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle battery, is looking for everything from technical operators to maintenance workers to production supervisors. The company held a previous job fair last September that resulted in about 40 people being hired. The prior year, though, LG Chem gained a measure of infamy after the US Department of Energy (DOE) discovered that workers were, for a time, getting paid to do absolutely nothing because low demand for battery packs made it cheaper for the factory to remain idle. With LG Chem also making electric-vehicle battery components for Ford, Renault, Hyundai, and Volvo, though, those lazy days appear to be long gone. Take a look at LG Chem's press release below. Show full PR text LG Chem Michigan Inc. 2nd Job Fair Will Help To Double Its Holland Workforce HOLLAND, Mich., May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Chem Michigan Inc. (LGCMI) is conducting a 2nd job fair on Thursday, May 14 as part of the company's efforts to double the size of its production workforce in 2015. LGCMI is an air-conditioned, clean room production environment with strong opportunity for career growth. Over 250 people attended the first job fair and the company is looking for more people to help it grow with increased production volume and new models. The company is adding production equipment and new processes and expects to employ several hundred people by the end of the year. Globally, LG Chem has numerous automakers as clients for EV batteries including GM, Ford, Renault, Hyundai/Kia, Volvo, Audi and Daimler etc. The company's push to build its workforce continues on Thursday, May 14 with an all-day job fair at the company's facilities, located at 1 LG Way in Holland. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and is open to everyone seeking employment opportunities with the company. Prospective candidates should plan to meet with members of LGCMI's staff to learn more about opportunities available at this market-leading, advanced-technology manufacturing company.

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else?
