Up for auction is a 2000 Chevrolet S10 Pickup. Exterior color is Space Blue Metallic with Graphite color interior. This truck is the LS model which includes body-color bumpers, cloth bucket style seats with console, carpeting, air-conditioning, AM/FM radio with cassette, tinted glass and aluminum wheels. Other features include a 2.2L 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel anti-lock brakes. Factory options include tachometer, leather-wrapped steering wheel and heavy-duty rear suspension (which includes an extra leaf spring not found on LS base models). Also included is a Sony 10-Disc CD changer, Extang tonneau cover and front/rear molded mudguards.

I am the second owner of this truck and I've had it for almost 10 years (originally titled in PA). In that time, it has been extremely reliable and it has always started – it literally runs and shifts like new!  I am a maintenance fanatic and I take exceptional care of my vehicles. It has been waxed and detailed on a regular basis (I even wax the door jambs and apply dressing to the rubber weather-stripping ) and I vacuum the interior every 2 or 3 weeks. I’m the kind of guy who calls out sick from work, and then spends the entire day detailing his truck. That’s my idea of fun! The carpeting is very clean (I always use floor mats) and there are no stains on the upholstery (I have always kept a towel on the seats to protect them). I am also a non-smoker. I purchased the truck with 35K miles and I have always used full-synthetic motor oil. I lubricate the door hinges every few weeks. The bed has some scratching, but with no dents or rust, and it has basically only been used to carry such things as groceries, light items, and the occasional piece of furniture. It has never been used to carry things such as gravel or dirt. From 2007 to 2013, the truck was titled in Florida where I lived at that time. Until this day, it has always been garage kept and when I lived in Florida, it was even parked during the day in my employer’s parking garage. And when it’s parked outside, I always us a sun shield to protect the dash. It has not been driven in snow since 2007. The undercarriage is very clean, and the body panels have absolutely no evidence of rust.

Negatively speaking, there is a small approximate 3/8-inch “star” from a stone chip in the lower center of the windshield. I had it professionally repaired when it happened 5 years ago and it has never gotten any bigger. It is small and barely noticeable. The front bumper and hood do have some minor roadway stone chipping typical of a vehicle of this age, however, the original paint is as shiny as new and all body panels are very straight with hardly a ding to be found (I’m always careful about where I park). Otherwise, everything works as it should.

Maintenance items completed:

-          Cooling System (115K miles):  replaced radiator and rubber radiator mounting grommets.

-          Front Brakes (112K miles):  new inner and outer wheel bearings, new rotors, new brake pads.

-          Tires (105K miles):  Four (4) new Uniroyal Tiger Paws.

-          Starter (99K miles):  starter replaced.

-          A/C Repaired (80K miles): new AC Delco compressor and accumulator ($869.23 total).

-          Rear Brakes (68K miles): new drums, new brake hardware, new brake shoes, new wheel cylinders.

Misc maintenance items: AC Delco water pump, AC Delco serpentine belt, AC Delco platinum spark plugs, power steering system flush, brake system flush, oil and filter change, front end greased (every 3K miles and the steering is very tight with no play), fuel injection cleaner (usually Chevron Techron) every 3K miles, K&N air filter cleaned and re-oiled. Additionally, when I purchased the vehicle, I had the manual transmission and rear-end fluid replaced with Amsoil synthetic fluid.

Please contact me with any additional questions that you may have, or if you need additional photos (I have plenty). If you’d like to view the vehicle, please email me and we can work out a date/time. I require a $200 deposit made via PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. And I expect payment in full within 7-10 days. You can make final payment in the form of cash, cashier’s bank check, or personal check (but it will have to first clear my bank before vehicle pick-up). Thanks for your interest and happy bidding!

GM seatbelt recall affects over 1m Silverados and Sierras

Fri, Apr 15 2016

The Basics: General Motors will recall 895,232 examples of the 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups in the US. The campaign will also affect the trucks in markets worldwide, and the total number the company will recall is 1,037,982. The Problem: A steel cable connects the seatbelt to the vehicle, but over time repeated bending can cause the part to fatigue and separate. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: Dealers will enlarge the side shield opening and install a pusher bracket on the tensioner. Technicians will also replace the entire tensioner assembly if necessary. If You Own One: GM will contact owners about the recall. The company hasn't said when those notifications would begin. More Information: There are still about 3,000 new examples of these older pickups at dealerships. Until mechanics fix the problem, these vehicles are subject to a stop-sale. Similar problems have affected the General's vehicles in the past. In 2015, the company recalled over 400,000 units of the 2011-2012 Chevrolet Malibu for fatiguing cables. It also hit over a million Lambda platform crossovers in 2014. GM Recalling Certain 2014-15 Pickups to Repair Seat Belts DETROIT – GM is voluntarily recalling 895,232 model year 2014-15 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups in the United States because the flexible steel cable that connects the seat belt to the vehicle can fatigue and separate over time as a result of the driver repeatedly bending the cable when entering the seat. This issue was discovered through warranty data, and there have been no reports of crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this issue. For trucks in the field, dealers will enlarge the side shield opening, install a pusher bracket on the tensioner, and if necessary, replace the tensioner assembly. The recall in the United States includes a stop-sale of approximately 3,000 new 2014 and 2015 model year pickups still on dealer lots. Dealers will repair the vehicles prior to delivering them to customers. Customers will be notified by General Motors. They also can look up their vehicle identification number (VIN) at either https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ website or at https://my.gm.com/web/portal/ownercenter to see if their vehicle is part of the recall. GM also will voluntarily recall and repair these models in other countries where they are sold, including Canada, Mexico, and several countries in Latin America and the Middle East.

GM to invest $150 million in Flint to boost heavy-duty pickup production

Thu, Jun 13 2019

FLINT, Mich. — General Motors President Mark Reuss said on Wednesday that the automaker is investing about $150 million at its Flint Assembly plant in Michigan to boost production of heavy duty trucks by another 40,000 vehicles a year. Reuss announced the investment at the Flint truck assembly plant wearing a United Auto Workers pin. The Detroit automaker had announced back in February it was adding 1,000 jobs in Flint to build a new generation of heavy-duty pickup trucks. GM did not say that the latest investment would add more jobs at the plant, but Reuss said there could be opportunities to add workers as the launch of the automaker's new trucks progresses. GM has been under pressure from President Donald Trump and lawmakers of both parties to add jobs in the United States after it said last November it would idle the Chevy Cruze assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, and likewise had no new products for three other U.S. manufacturing plants. The Flint investment will include upgrades to the plant's conveyors and other new tooling, and will be completed in the first half of 2020. GM has invested more than $1.6 billion in the plant since 2013. Last month, GM said it would invest $24 million to increase truck production at its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which makes Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models. Sales of heavy-duty pickups in the United States have grown to more than 600,000 vehicles a year, up more than 20 percent since 2013, according to industry data. Prices for luxury models can easily top $70,000. GM's Chevrolet and GMC brands have long trailed Ford's F-series heavy duty trucks in the lucrative segment. The new Chevrolet and GMC heavy duty trucks have been re-engineered to tow heavier trailers, and keep pace in what has become an arms race among the Detroit Three automakers to claim superior torque and towing capability. 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Fri, Apr 24 2015

"Corvette" has stood for American muscle, American sports car, and American supercar. In many cases, it still stands for America: liberty on the go, LS-powered freedom. There was also a time when it meant really impressive numbers that didn't equate to really impressive handling, and a not-so-nice cabin. The handling issue really turned the road-legal corner when the C5 Z06 was introduced in 2001, and by the time the super-duper ZR1 ended its run in 2010, Corvette had exorcised practically all of its dynamic demons. But when I took a seat in the 2015 Corvette Z06 on the first day of my week-long loan, I espied a few demons still squatting in the interior. When colleague Seyth Miersma drove the Z06, he wrote, "Listen, I'm not going to be the guy that dogs the Corvette for having a cheap-feeling interior, this generation has put those once-legitimate claims to rest." Well, I am going to be that guy, because I don't think those claims have been put to rest. One day Chevy will give us leather that looks and feels like leather, instead of the astonishingly thin hide that is laid directly on top of the instrument panel structure. This material was set off by white stitching, but there were no seams, just a trail of white stitches. In some places it was hard to tell where the leather ended and the plastic began; or it might all have been the same upholstery, I don't know. Five dollars of foam padding would add five thousand dollars of luxury to the cockpit. One day Corvette will have plastics that don't look so plasticky. I know General Motors can do it. And after years of thinking Corvette seats were too wide and flat, this latest Z06 is almost there. The seatbacks were nice, but the exaggerated side bolstering on the seat bottoms was too narrow and sharp. That's a personal preference, though; other drivers with thinner thighs will think differently. My complaint isn't that the interior isn't luxurious, it's that it's not luxurious enough. If Chevrolet was worried about pricing, it could add some kind of profligate package to the options list. Have some ex-Porsche people design it, call it the Teutonic Splendor Package, slap a massive price on it, and count the money. People will buy it, and no one will ever have to say again, "But the interior..." That said, this test car's cabin had every feature I wanted. The gauge cluster was bright, crisp, and readable in every shade of daylight.
