1997 Chevy S10 Pro-street With "rodeck" Aluminum Small Block, 4-speed Muncie on 2040-cars
Keokuk, Iowa, United States
You are bidding on a 1997 Chevy S10 Pro Street pickup with an all aluminum Rodeck 415 cu.in. dry-sumped small block.
This was a complete frame-off rebuild. Truck was tubbed and chassis was narrowed and a GM- 12-bolt rear was hung on a set of gm rear leaf springs. Rear end has a set of custom made traction-bars (like the Cal-tracs), a new Richmond 4.10 gear with a gm posi-unit and a new set of Moser Axles with 5/8” studs and Moser billet yoke. Hooks up very nicely. Rear tires are Hoosier Pro Street (31” X 12” X 15”) mounted on a set of new Nascar-style “Bassett” Chrome steel wheels with a 5” X 5” bolt pattern.
Front a-arms are GM that were rebushed and new ball-joints installed.(Upper & Lower) Front spindles are a set of 4” drop “Belkin” with all new wheel bearings and GM rotors. All tie rod ends were also replaced.
Transmission:This is a completely rebuilt Muncie 4-speed with all new gears, hubs, sliders, counter-shaft and syncros. Has the larger BCA roller bearing for the input shaft. Only thing used is the case and main-shaft! It has a Hurst “Competition-Plus” Super Shifter w/ Reverse Lockout and a T-handle modified for the Line-loc.
Now for the engine: 415 cu.in. (4.145” bore X 3.800” stroke) all aluminum Rodeck Tall-Block, dry-sumped, With air-gap open plenum intake and new holley 900cfm double pumper.
Engine components were purchased new with the exception of the block. The block is a used “Rodeck” aluminum block that came out of a sprint car. Truck has never been raced.

Motor has not been on the dyno but estimated horsepower is 650+ Pulls very hard from 3500-7500 RPM
Total cost for engine at build time was $12,500. This truck is very fast, very reliable and a lot of fun to drive. Engine runs cools and is very responsive. Engine sounds amazing and is quite a head-turner This truck has never traveled more than 20 miles from my home. Mostly to car-shows and running around town. Adding this link to a video of a nice "burnout" I did last year with this truck: http://youtu.be/aum8TZ7t5YY "Silver-Bullet" S-10 Massive burnout. Enjoy!!! |

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette
Thu, 14 Feb 2013When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
