This little 46 Chevy is about as original as you get, except it had a repaint back in the 80s.The truck has the original motor, transmission, and enclosed driveshaft& differential. The body is in really good shape. It has a very few and small dent, and hardly any rust. the only rust I have found, is under the passenger side front fender on the angled portion of the fire wall. This spot is not rusted thru, and is very small. I have shown it in the pictures. There is a few very small rust blisters on the very bottom edge of the doors. The bumpers and grill will need to be re-chromed to make it perfect, or they look good for the age with a little surface rust. The paint is not a quality job, as they got a few runs in it. (this was done in the 80's). The wood in the bed is original, and has a couple of rotted places, as per pictures. The metal strips in bed are unbolted, but in great condition.  The metal and tailgate on the bed is really straight. The interior is fair to good(see pictures).Truck shows 17k miles, has new speedo cable, but speedometer doesn't work. Running boards and floor boards are in good shape. The truck is still a 6 volt system. It starts and runs and drives. The timing cover seal leaks, and the master cylinder line fitting drips.  I have drove the truck around a little, and is fun also gets a lot of thumbs up. I have been all under the truck while it was on my rack, and the condition is really amazing for it's age. The truck has 4 new 15" tires on it, and a new 16" spare. The original tires would have been 16". The battery carrier has been replaced with a poorly built battery box. Just looks bad. the rear shocks are on the truck, and both seem ok. One has the linkage partially broken. The front are absent. The truck has original type exhaust. The passenger door glass is cracked. I can't say for sure, but I think the other glass is okay, but old.  The truck has been stored inside, most all of it's life. You can drive far and wide, wear the tire off you car, and probably won't find another original truck even close to this one.  A deposit of $500.00 dollars(non refundable)  will be due, within 24 hours of the end of this auction. This can be paid cash or PayPal. The balance due within 7 days of the end of auction. This needs to be paid by only Good check(has to clear both my bank and yours, before picking up vehicle, or by cash before picking up vehicle. No other payment will be accepted, unless approved thru me and Ebay, before bidding. Vehicle needs to be picked up in one week, unless earlier arrangement has been made with me, thru Ebay. The vehicle will remain inside and locked up till you pick it up. I have described this to the best of my capabilities, and have tried to mention and point out what I know or have found about this vehicle. That said, look at all the pictures very carefully, and ask any questions, and I will try my absolute best to answer your questions to the best of my abilities.  Also, I won't arrange shipping, but will assist the shipper in loading. Buyer would be responsible for all arrangements, and vehicle has to be paid in full before it leaves my building. The truck is also for sale locally, so the auction may end at anytime. Thanks for looking, and if you have any questions, either contact me, or call me: Steve 270/ 314- 0912

Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?
