1959 Chevy Fleetside Long Bed on 2040-cars
Baldwin Park, California, United States
For sale is this 59 Fleetside. Into patina, ratrod or vintage? Here you go. Looking for that black liquid looking paint job, this isnt far away. No major body panels/sheet work needed.1 small hole near bottom of driver door,1 small hole near bottom of passengers door. One 3 inch circle on lower left driver's door. And the sunroof that someone thought was a good idea to install. Maybe so, just not my style. rest of sheetmetal in really solid condition. This a California truck. Couple little patches in the floorboard but very very solid overall, no Fred Flinstone style braking. Footsteps solid, inside rear corners, behind seat, all around gas tank solid. All metal bed rails present & mostly all straight. Even banged up, twisted, rusty, bent, rails are hard to find. Surface rust of course but will try to sand those down & hit with primer before it's sold. It has a mid 70's 307 chevy V8 engine, powerglide automatic transmission, nice sounding dual exhaust, nothing too loud, just nice throaty. It has a Camaro front clip which adds power steering and power brake, disc brakes, better shocks. Mid 90's tilt steering wheel ( will make driving positions more flexible) The front clip was welded onto existing frame, so frame isn't hacked up, no structural integrity lost. Front clip = better steering, braking, smoother ride from mid 70's shocks system versus original 59 suspension. Also, parts are much easier/cheaper to find for mid 70's engine and 80's camaro front clip versus 59 chevy parts. The engine runs strong, kicks right over, sounds really good with the dual exhaust. The shocks need replacing and steering fine tuned. Original turn signals kept & work. Doors seams line up nicely and doors close solid. Emblems,, I have the front side emblems, hood emblem and rear bed " Fleetside " emblems, you will need a new bench seat. It has one there but its beat up . I have 3 extra side quarter windows, the original steering wheel and wipers. And yes, current clear California registration, pink in hand, valid to Jan 2015... I have a perfect ebay rating and plan on keeping it that way so you can bid with confidence. I am selling the truck locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. If you live in the Los Angeles area, you are more that welcome, and encouraged to come check it out in person. Buyer is responsible for any transportation. You can email me and I can help set something up for you. UPDATE!! I UPDATE! UPDATE!! I had a few requests on info/pics on under carriage. I jacked up the truck and took a bunch of pics. I also took a couple short videos of the engine turning over. I have already sent them to those who requested. If you also want more pics, videos, send me your email and I'll pass them on to you as well. |

2017 Chevy Bolt charged up for production
Thu, Jun 11 2015Chevy's decision to call its new electric car the Bolt has stirred controversy and confusion, but regardless, it's well on its way to becoming a production reality. The prototype captured in these shots is heavily camouflaged, but the crossover/hatchback styling cues are still evident. The car also has a tall greenhouse, slight creases in the sides, and a sloping roofline in back. There's a rapidly rising body line that makes for less glass for rear passengers, but that's probably part of the camo. The Bolt is expected to arrive for 2017 and will be sold in all 50 states. The Chevy Bolt carries the promise of bringing EV technology to a broader audience. Chevy said the car will cost about $30,000 after possible tax incentives and could have a range of 200 miles. It will be assembled at General Motors' Orion Assembly factory north of Detroit. The Bolt will augment the plug-in hybrid Volt in Chevy's green fleet, and it will compete against vehicles like the BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf. Related Video:
Very first Chevy Camaro found and restored
Thu, Feb 26 2015Restoring an important classic car can lead people down rabbit hole upon rabbit hole of discovered history in a process that's essentially automotive genealogy. Take the recent rejuvenation of the very first Chevrolet Camaro as an example. The owners started with a strong hunch that the vehicle might be something special and spent years researching to figure it all out before the mechanical work even began. Fisher Body kicked off work on the first Camaro on May 17, 1966, and it was delivered to General Motors just a few days later for final assembly. While the model has earned a place as an American performance icon since then, the original was built more to develop the production process and boasted just a 230-cubic-inch (3.8-liter) inline six and 3-speed transmission. After spending its first few months appearing in promotions, a Chevy dealer in Oklahoma got the gold car in December of '66. It was touted on the sales floor there for years, and the first private owner didn't come until 1969. This short documentary goes into astonishingly comprehensive detail about every bit of the first Camaro's history. If you just want to hear the story of the latest owners and their work to get the vehicle restored since 2010, skip about 11 minutes into the video. Or, of course, you could just enjoy the whole thing. News Source: PilotCarRegistry via YouTube, Camaro NewsTip: Chris P. GM's Ultium EV platform finally shows up in Q3 sales numbers
Wed, Oct 4 2023General Motors has heralded its Ultium battery-electric platform as the future of its passenger car and truck lineup, but for the first two years of its existence, its impact on the marketplace has been virtually nonexistent. Well, that finally changed in the third quarter of 2023, and while the cars based on this architecture don't represent anywhere near the volume of GM's broader combustion portfolio, we're reaching a point where Ultium products are finally in view (and in the hands) of real-world shoppers. At this point, five U.S.-market Ultium models are in production: the GMC Hummer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Blazer & Silverado EV, and BrightDrop Zevo 600. If you're not familiar with that last one, that's OK; it's a commercial product that you likely won't see on the road for some time. Together, these four combined for 4,257 sales in the third quarter alone — up from 2,663 for the entire first half of the year. While that may not seem like a significant uptick when viewed from altitude, the quarter-to-quarter numbers paint a clearer picture. Let's toss out the stragglers first. The Chevy Blazer EV, and Silverado EV for example, are barely in production. GM delivered 19 Blazers and 18 Silverados in the third quarter and that's the entirety of their production runs so far. Likewise, GM's BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van effectively exists apart from the consumer marketplace, so its contribution of just 35 units can be set aside too. That leaves us the two you've heard of: the GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq — models with high sticker prices and long reservation queues. Through the second quarter (remember, we're talking six months here), GMC sold 49 Hummer EVs. No typo. In the three months that made up the third quarter, GM moved 1,167 of them. Not only is that a dramatic improvement over the first half, but it's more Hummers than GMC sold in the entirety of 2022 (854). Lyriq's improvement was less eye-popping on paper, but after moving just 122 total units in 2022 and 2,013 of them in the first half of 2023, Cadillac managed to up that figure to 3,018 units in the third quarter alone. GM is betting its short-term EV future on the Ultium platform, so these trends need to continue if that's going to be a profitable wager.
