This 1959 Omaha Orange Apache has been in my family since 1995 is wearing it's original paintwork and it has been partially restored. I'm just not ever going to complete the restoration and decided to let the new owner finish what I started years ago. Here's a brief history of the truck.
HISTORY: It was purchased new in Palm Springs (note the Black CA plates) and owned by a company called Service Appliance & Parts. It was used as a parts chaser truck and not used as a service call vehicle. My son met the company driver that said he drove it for over 10 years. My best friend and fellow car collector Stan bought it in the late 80's from the original owner. Stan was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and called me about selling his collection of about 15 vehicles. My son needed a truck and he bought it at that time. I bought it from my son Jeff in 2005 and started a much needed restoration.
RESTORATION WORK DONE: When I got I it the truck had a rebuilt 235 6 cylinder engine in it with about 3000 miles on the rebuild. My son had also replaced the original 3 speed on the column and installed a 1965 Chevy truck 4 speed floor mounted transmission. The column shifter had snapped off at the steering column so he changed it. The first thing I did was have all new brakes installed with new wheel cylinders and lines plus a rebuilt master cylinder. Next was a set of new wide whites with beauty rings and chrome hubcaps. The hood brackets and springs were replaced and a new battery box was installed on the firewall.
Then an interior restoration was begun. I found a recently re-done seat in the original fabric on eBay. While the old seat was out I cleaned and painted the floorboards with POR-15 paint. Installed new jute padding and the original styled rubber floor mat. New rubbers on the pedals, starter cover, headliner rubber and both doors have new weather stripping. The cab was a standard cab but it has been upgraded to a Deluxe interior with the seat material installed on the door panels and two Black sun visors and a deluxe rear view mirror. The entire cab interior was re-painted in a Champagne Beige that is very close to the original. Standard cabs were painted Gray. The original Radio was upgraded to a Custom Sound AM/FM with cassette player that fit in the original dash holes( the dash is not cut) and a new speaker was installed in the speaker box above the rear view mirror. New window cranks, door pulls and door latches completed the interior restoration.
On the outside I installed new tail light lenses, installed a better hood emblem as the old one was very pitted. The headlight rims, grill and front bumper were re-painted in the original Beige color. New CHEVROLET lettering was installed and yes, the front CA Black plate was restored but the rear was left in original condition.
RECENT WORK DONE: Here's what has been done in the last 6 months or so. New Battery, new Voltage regulator, brake switch, fuel pump, upper & lower radiator hoses, a tail light wiring harness (my son had over spliced the original harness so I replaced it), and a complete tune-up including a valve adjustment.
SPARE PARTS INCLUDED: New parts are a set of wipers, a speedometer cable, a bolt kit for the bed and interior firewall padding. Used parts include the original floor starter, (it now has a starter button on the steering column bracket), original AM radio, extra distributor and water pump.
BROCHURES & MANUALS INCLUDED: I always collect as much paper as I can when owning a collector car/truck. So I am including an Owners Manual, Chevrolet Truck Parts Manual, 1958 Chevrolet Truck Service Manual plus the 1959 Supplement, two Sales Brochures, 1 small and 1 large and a DuPont Paint chart for the 1959 Chevrolet cars and trucks. Also, the truck was in Hemming's Classic Car 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet edition and a copy of the magazine is included.
WHAT"S NEEDED: This truck needs the bed wood replaced and bed strips, some bodywork and a paint job to complete the restoration.
CLOSING COMMENT: It is currently registered and I just renewed the plates until June 2014. I have a clear CA title in my name and it's ready to drive home with a full tank of gas.
My reserve is reasonable but please don't ask as it's unfair to all the other bidders. If you are local to Southern CA and wish to see and drive the truck you can contact me by email via eBay or call me on my cell at 760-636-3288. I will provide more photos in the next day or so as I wanted to get it listed today as I am judging motorcycles at a Concours tomorrow morning.

We really want to use an eCrate to restomod an old GM car. Here's what we'd build
Fri, Oct 30 2020You hopefully saw the news today of GM's introduction of its Connect and Cruise eCrate motor and battery package, which effectively makes the Bolt's electric motor, battery pack and myriad other elements available to, ah, bolt into a different vehicle. It's the same concept as installing a gasoline-powered crate motor into a classic car, but with electricity and stuff. This, of course, got us thinking about what we'd stuff the eCrate into. Before we got too ahead of ourselves, however, we discovered that the eCrate battery pack is literally the Bolt EV pack in not only capacity but size and shape. In other words, you need to have enough space in the vehicle to place and/or stuff roughly 60% of a Chevy Bolt's length. It's not a big car, but that's still an awful lot of real estate. There's a reason GM chose to simply plop the pack into the bed and cargo area of old full-size SUVs. Well that, and having a rear suspension beefy enough to handle about 1,000 pounds of batteries. So after that buzz kill, we still wanted to peruse the GM back catalog for classics we'd love to see transformed into an electric restomod that might be able to swallow all that battery ... maybe ... possibly ... whatever, saws and blow torches exist for a reason. 1971 Buick Riviera Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski: If you’re going to build an electric conversion, why not do it with style? ThatÂ’s why IÂ’m choosing a 1971-1973 Buick Riviera. You know, the one with the big glass boat-tail rear end that ends in a pointy V. Being a rather large vehicle with a big sloping fastback shape, IÂ’m hoping thereÂ’s enough room in the trunk and back seat to pack in the requisite battery pack. That would likely require cutting away some of the metal bulkhead that supports the rear seatback, but not so much that a wee bit of structural bracing couldnÂ’t shore things up. The big 455-cubic-inch Buick V8 up front will obviously have to go. Remember, this was the 1970s, so despite all that displacement, the Riviera only had around 250 horsepower (depending on the year and the trim level). So the electric motorÂ’s 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque ought to work as an acceptable replacement.  1982 Chevrolet S10 Associate Editor Byron Hurd: OK, so the name "E-10" is already taken by a completely different truck, but let's not let labels get in the way of a fun idea.
GM profit dips on truck changeover, but beats estimates
Thu, Apr 26 2018DETROIT — General Motors on Thursday reported a higher-than-expected quarterly profit despite a drop in production of high-margin pickup trucks, as it gears up for new models that are expected to boost profits next year. Like rivals Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, GM is banking on highly-profitable Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks to lift profits, as consumers shift away from traditional passenger cars in favor of these larger, more comfortable trucks, SUVs and crossovers. During the first quarter, the process of changing over to GM's new pickups resulted in a drop in production of 47,000 units. GM Chief Financial Officer Chuck Stevens said the production drop had resulted in a drop in pre-tax profit of up to $800 million. Earlier this year, GM said its 2018 profits would be flat compared with 2017, but expected its all-new pickup trucks would boost margins starting in 2019. On Thursday, GM reiterated its full-year 2018 forecast for adjusted earnings in a range from $6.30 to $6.60 per share. The automaker said capital expenditures were more than $500 million higher in the quarter because of investments its new pickup trucks and a family of low-cost vehicles under development with Chinese partner SAIC Motor Corp. On Wednesday, rival Ford said it would stop investing in most traditional passenger sedans in North America. CFO Stevens told reporters on Thursday that GM has "already indicated that we will make significantly lower investments on a go-forward basis" in sedans. 2019 GMC Sierra View 21 Photos GM benefited from a lower effective tax rate in the quarter, but adjusted pre-tax margin fell to 7.2 percent from 9.5 percent a year earlier. Stevens said the company's profit margin should hit 10 percent or higher in the second quarter and for the full year. GM said material costs were $700 million higher in the first quarter, and it expects those costs to continue rising. The automaker said it would counter those increases with cost cutting measures. "It is a more difficult environment than it was three or four months ago," Stevens said when asked about rising commodity prices from potential steel and aluminum tariffs announced by the Trump administration. "But we are confident we can continue to offset that." The company reported quarterly net income of $1.05 billion or $1.43 per share, a drop of nearly 60 percent from $2.61 billion or $1.75 per share a year earlier. Analysts had on average expected earnings per share of $1.24.
Chevrolet planning new crossover between Equinox and Traverse
Wed, Jul 22 2015Chevrolet is taking a crowbar to its crossover lineup so it can slide in a new entry between the Equinox (shown) and the Traverse, according to a report in Automotive News. The current Equinox, a tweener compared to its rivals, will get smaller when the next-generation vehicle moves to the Delta platform that underpins the Chevrolet Cruze. The next Traverse will remain full-size, the liberated space between it and the smaller Equinox making room for a fourth offering from the brand. Designed on a short-wheelbase version of the Traverse platform, AN's sources say it will offer three-row seating, and its architecture will also serve the Cadillac SRX successor, the XT5, and the redesigned GMC Acadia. Yes, the Acadia will also come down a notch in size. Once all the rationalizing is complete, the Trax, Equinox, new crossover, and Traverse would give consumers a quicker, easier way to compare size and features with the competition. As it stands, the Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Honda Pilot, and Toyota Highlander are all larger than the Equinox. The future offering and its two- and three-row seating options would take clear aim at those four vehicles, and the Equinox could focus on the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Jeep Cherokee segment. The new Chevy is predicted to go on sale at the end of next year as a 2018 model. Related Video: Featured Gallery 2015 Chevrolet Equinox View 14 Photos News Source: Automotive News - sub. req.
