1949 Chevy Truck Shortbed. V8 Ps Pb Automatic 5 Window Cab on 2040-cars
Umatilla, Florida, United States

1949 Chevy truck. Shortbed 3100 on a 1994 Silverado Frame. Truck has power steering, tilt column, power brakes, front disc brakes. New shocks, 350 chevy engine with Holley 600 four barrell carb. Steel headers and dual exhaust ran to the rear of the cab with two thrush mufflers. This truck runs and drives great. The frame and drivetrain came out of a silverado with less than 80k miles on it. Runs like a bear! Has new aluminum radiator with electric fan. AC compressor is still on the engine for anyone who wants to add air. The frame swap was done right. As you can see in the pics, the truck has a ton of new parts. Im not going to go through and make a list. Has all new glass and rubbers, upgraded to electric windshield wiper motor. Has bi-xenon headlights. All the lights work including turn signals. Seat is newly recovered with genuine leather The dash has been customized to fit a kenwood dvd/ navigation stereo. It is not currently installed or included. Rear speakers are wired and installed. I can include and install the stereo/gps for an additional $550 if the buyer choses to do so. Paint is only a few months old. Color is House of Kolor Tangelo Pearl. Its a great looking paint job, but it is not show quality or flawless. Bed rails and bed floor are stained and varnished oak. Wheels are 15 inch with new tires. Has new gauges that are all operational including electronic speedometer. I have only put a few miles on the truck as of today, but I will be driving it all week to work out any possible small problems like squeaks or rattles. Right now the truck needs a few minor details to be taken care of including front end alignment, carb adjustment (new), and some detailing. Any questions, call me at 570-299-1755. Truck has a clear 1949 FL title in my name ready for transfer. I would consider a partial trade on a 1930-1954 chevy truck project with cash. Nothing else. This is a big boy toy, so check with your wife, your mother, your dog, or whoever you need to before you bid. Call me with any reasonable offers, but dont call me to ask how much I want.
I can help arrange transport if needed. My pics were taken while the truck was still a little dusty and dirty. I will get more on during the auction On Apr-22-14 at 13:00:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I added a few more pics now that the truck is clean. Had a front end alignment done today and drove it around to get a few more miles on it. Ive had a ton of questions about the truck. The frame is a complete frame swap. Not a partial clip. Its a full size shortbed 94 silverado under the 49 body. It drives just like a 94 silverado. It drives great. It needs a few small things to be complete. Nothing major. It needs carpet. Right now the floor is sprayed with truck bedliner and mostly covered with sound deadening material as you can see in the pics. The drivers window rolls up and down but it needs adjustment, or a new regulator. It works but its a little grumpy. I have a few people coming by for test drives tomorrow and Thurs. I will likely have the truck at the Good Guys show in Kissimmee FL on friday or saturday. |

Least reliable cars and trucks of 2022
Tue, Nov 15 2022Related: Most reliable cars and trucks of 2022 Â Every year, Consumer Reports ranks new cars based on their predicted reliability. We often see Toyota, Lexus, and a few other automakers near the top. But on the other side of the coin, the list of least reliable vehicles sometimes contains surprises. Â The organization surveys its members to determine the vehicles that exhibited the most problems over the prior year. Owners are asked about creaks and rattles, the durability of parts and trim, and mechanical issues. Consumer Reports assigns a weight to each problem and then uses them to create a score, with 100 being the best. Some familiar names appear on the list of least reliable vehicles (in order with the lowest predicted reliability score at the top), but there are a few eyebrow-raising models, followed by CR's score: Ford F-150 Hybrid: 4 Hyundai Kona Electric: 5 Lincoln Aviator: 8 Nissan Sentra: 9 Ford Explorer: 16 Chevrolet Bolt: 17 Chevrolet Silverado 1500/GMC Sierra 1500: 19 Jeep Gladiator: 21 Mercedes-Benz GLE: 23 Jeep Wrangler: 24 Consumer Reports noted that sedans are the most reliable vehicle category and found that trucks are far lower on the list. That said, the survey showed that trucks from American brands tended to have better reliability scores, so it’s surprising to see GMÂ’s big two and the Ford F-150 on the list. Part of their problematic ownership experience could be due to the fact that all three trucks have received recent updates, and the Ford was completely redesigned for 2022. New tech, fresh drivetrain components, and other improvements can upset the balance of reliability and make newer models look less dependable than their older counterparts. Frustrated GM investors ask what more Mary Barra can do
Mon, Oct 22 2018DETROIT — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra has transformed the No. 1 U.S. automaker in her almost five years in charge, but that is still not enough to satisfy investors. Ahead of third-quarter results due on Oct. 31, GM shares are trading about 6 percent below the $33 per share price at which they launched in 2010 in a post-bankruptcy initial public offering. The Detroit carmaker's stock is down 22 percent since Barra took over in January 2014. After hitting an all-time high of $46.48 on Oct. 24, 2017, the shares have declined 33 percent. In the same period, the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 7.8 percent. Several shareholders contacted by Reuters said GM could face a third major action by activist shareholders in less than four years if the share price does not improve. "I've been expecting it," said John Levin, chairman of Levin Capital Strategies. "It just seems a tempting morsel to somebody." Levin's firm owns more than seven million GM shares. Barra has guided the company through the settlement of a federal criminal probe of a mishandled safety recall, sold off money-losing European operations, and returned $25 billion to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks from 2012 through 2017. GM declined to comment for this story, but the company's executives privately express frustration with the market's reluctance to see it as anything more than a manufacturer tied mainly to auto market sales cycles. GM's profitable North American truck and SUV business and its money-making China operations are valued at just $14 billion, excluding the value of GM's stake in its $14.6 billion Cruise automated vehicle business and its cash reserves from its $44 billion market capitalization. The recent slump in the Chinese market, GM's largest, and plateauing U.S. demand are ratcheting up the pressure. GM is one of the few global automakers without a founding family or a government to serve as a bulwark against corporate raiders. In 2015, a group led by investor Harry Wilson pressed GM to launch a $5 billion share buyback, and commit to what is now an $18 billion ceiling on the level of cash the company would hold. In 2017, GM fended off a call by hedge fund manager David Einhorn to split its common stock shares into two classes. Einhorn, whose firm still owned more than 21 million shares at the end of June, declined to comment about GM's stock price. Other investors said there were no clear alternatives to Barra's approach.
GM's Buckle to Drive teen safety feature comes to more models for 2021
Mon, Jul 6 2020In 2014, GM announced a feature called "Belt Assurance," which would prevent a vehicle from being shifted out of park until the driver and front passenger had buckled their seatbelts. Initially launched on certain fleet vehicles in 2014, the feature rolled out as a free option on the 2015 GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Colorado, Cruze and Silverado. At the time, GM said it would push Belt Assurance to more models if customers took to it. That appears to have happened; come 2019, GM repackaged Belt Assurance as Buckle to Drive, part of the automaker's Teen Driver System that bundled tech such as geofencing and speed limit warnings to help parents keep track of their children's driving habits. In that implementation, the system only works when Teen Driver Mode is activated, locking out the shifter and muting the radio for 20 seconds or until the seatbelts are buckled, whichever comes first. The system shows a visual warning in the gauge cluster, too. For this model year, the Teen Driver System came standard on 10 Chevy models, but Buckle to Drive was only allotted to the Colorado, Malibu and Traverse. Later this year, the 2021 Camaro will join the Chevys outfitted with the Teen Driver System and will get Buckle to Drive in addition. GM Authority reports that for the 2021 model year, Buckle to Drive will also be picked up by the Cadillac CT4 and CT5. Previously, the Cadillac ATS, CTS, Escalade and XTS came with the Teen Driver System, but three out of those four vehicles are no more, and the 2021 Escalade makes no mention of the Teen Driver System nor Buckle to Drive among its safety features. Elsewhere around the GM empire, the Buick Envision and Encore GX include the Teen Driver System, as do six GMC vehicles, but it's not clear when any will be upgraded with Buckle to Drive. The tech could help save numerous teenagers' lives. On its page of teen crash facts, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention writes that roughly 300,000 teens between the ages of 16 and 19 ended up in emergency rooms to treat crash injuries in 2017. Furthermore, "only 58.8% of high school students always wore seat belts when riding as passengers," and, "Among young drivers aged 15-20 who died in car crashes in 2017, almost half were unrestrained at the time of the crash (when restraint use was known)."
