Very good condition 1942 chevy flatbed Art deco truck. Truck has a newly rebuilt engine, new master cylinder and brake lines. Maxes out safely at 45 to 50 mph. Has a very good shifting clutch and transmission. Cancer free but has some surface rust on one spot under drivers door and on surface of rear view mirrors. Light rust on grill. Do not have room in my garage so I must let go. My primary vehicle smacked into a hog so I need to replace that. The truck runs strong and is difficult to kill. I drove all the way from Texarkana to Brownsville this past october and it ran great. A defective gas tank that started to leak (manufactured by previous builder) in an area where a fold in the metal prevents an easy fix. Tank was relocated to underside of wood flatbed and original that goes behind the back seat has been removed. So it needs a tank, tires are ok and I have two spares for front that really needs them or you can purchase. Thsese 9.00 20 * 8.25 20 or 7.50 20 tube tires are available everywhere and inexpensive. Truck is solid steel but this wasn't a professional restoration. The paint is imperfect but gets approval and complimentary looks. Was to be used to advertise my ebay listing service with an 8 foot by 8 foot sign on flat bed with an eye for political functions too. Must pick up. No deliveries. Truck sold as is but I guarentee the engine to be awsome and only 1500 miles have been driven on it since its extensive rebuild. Interior headliner and seat are in great shape just fixed up too. Winshield has a small crack but cranks open and looks great. Intefrior and exterior are completely cancer free and in farm fresh rust free condition. Wood on flatbed is new and darkening is just exposure to rain as truck's tail was not under carport.Misplaced oil cap ...but I'm looking for it. Hole covered. Some surface rust has developed from me not storing it inside ( no room) so I have to let her go. More pictures including inside cab and engine will be taken in tomorrows sunlight. All offers reviewed and best offer by week's end will have offer accepted. Deposit is non-refundable. Also minus 2 rear tires and wheels for this to roll like actual rear dually. Clear blue title on hand with bill of sale from previous owner in Arkansas to me.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch
Mon, 04 Feb 2013According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt
Mon, Jan 13 2014At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. New Chevy Malibu helps parents monitor teen driver's performance
Thu, Apr 2 2015For teens, a driver's license can represent freedom. For parents, it can represent fear. Now there's a way parents can alleviate some of their worries and monitor their teen drivers. The 2016 Chevy Malibu, which debuted Wednesday at the New York Auto Show, contains a new feature that tracks driving performance and helps inexperienced drivers rein in some of their more dangerous habits. Accessed through a password in the car's infotainment system, parents can learn how far their child has driven, how fast they've gone and how many times they've braked hard, among other features. "It's an in-vehicle report card that gives parents information," says Mary Ann Beebe, one of the lead engineers who designed the system. "It's meant to be used as a teaching tool. Parents can sit down and talk with their teen about, 'Here are some areas where you're doing well, and here's some where you can use improvement.'" Car accidents are the leading cause of death for teens ages 16 to 19, and only last week, AAA released a study that found their driving behavior can leave them particularly susceptible to crashes. General Motors had sought ways to help educate and train younger drivers. In an era where data can be harvested from cars, monitoring performance is one way to provide information. Parents access the Teen Driver system in the car through a PIN-number entered into the Malibu's infotainment system. The report card can only be seen in the car – so far, it's not available via a smartphone app, like some other types of on-board diagnostic information. The system is activated by the use of a specially programmed key fob that lets the system know who is driving the car. Once the vehicle recognizes the key fob, it takes preventive measures to ensure safer conduct behind the wheel: Until the driver and front passenger buckle their seat belts, the radio is muted. Safety systems such as forward-collision assist and electronic stability control are automatically turned on. Parents can preset preferred speed limits, and drivers will hear a warning if that sound is exceeded. "We have these great technologies, and we want to make sure we turn them on for the teen," Beebe said. There are no geo-location aspects of the program, and data is stored on the car, not uploaded to the Cloud or even seen by General Motors, she said.
