UP FOR SALE IS THIS 1972 NOVA YENCO TRIBUTE.  THIS NOVA RUNS AND DRIVES PRETTY GOOD. ENGINE SOUNDS LOUD AND STRONG AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ON TIME.  IT'S NOT A RESTORED CAR OR  CAR SHOW QUALITY.  THIS CAR IS A NICE EXAMPLE OF A CLEAN DAILY DRIVER, BUT IT IS STILL CONSIDERED A PROJECT BECAUSE IT NEEDS A FEW THINGS AND HAS A FEW FLAWS... I PUT NEW BRAKES ALL AROUND AND A NEW WHEEL CYLINDER THAT WAS LEAKING, AFTER DOING THE BRAKES AND THE WHEEL CYLINDER IT STARTED TO PULL TO ONE SIDE WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES , I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT NEEDS BRAKE ADJUSTING ALL AROUND BUT I HAD NO TIME TO LIFT THE CAR AND ADJUST THE DRUMS ALL AROUND"TAKES TIME AND IT HOT IN NM RIGHT NOW... ALSO, NEEDS DOORS AND TRUNK WEATHER STRIPPING, AND GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK AND PAINT HAS A FEW DINGS AND SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE BUT LIKE I SAID IT'S A NICE DAILY DRIVER. THE SEATS LOOK LIKE NEW, CARPET IS GOOD BUT NOT ORIGINAL LOOP CARPET, DOOR PANELS ARE NEW AND IT NEEDS A HEAD LINER. TIRES WILL NEED REPLACING IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE (TO BE SAFE). THEY LOOK GOOD BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW OLD THEY ARE, FRONT TIRES ARE A LITTLE TOO BIG AND RUB A LITTLE WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY.  ALL LIGHTS WORK INSIDE AND OUT.  IT HAS AN AFTERMARKET DISTRIBUTOR, ORIGINAL MANIFOLDS, ALUMINUM INTAKE AND 4 BARREL CARBURETOR. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR A FEW YEARS AGO OWNER TOLD ME ENGINE HAD BEEN REBUILT AND HAD VERY LOW MILES, SINCE I HAD IT I PROBABLY PUT 15 MILES, IT'S BEEN SITTING AND IT NEEDS DRIVING. IT HAS A FLOW-MASTER TRUE DUAL EXHAUST, THIS NOVA HAS ALL 4 ORIGINAL GM CORVETTE RIMS AND CAPS. I'M JUST TRYING TO DESCRIBE THE CAR TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE SINCE YOU ARE NOT PRESENT.  THIS CAR IS A REAL HEAD TURNER EVERYWHERE I GO! THIS COULD BE YOUR FATHER-SON/DAUGHTER PROJECT.  IT COULD BE  YOUR NEW WEEKEND HOBBY TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE OR BUILD A MONSTER MUSCLE MACHINE TO TAKE TO THE TRACK  OR ENJOY IT AS IS TO WEEKEND EVENTS OR TAKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND/WIFE FOR A SPIN DOWN MEMORY LANE. THIS IS A GREAT STARTER BECAUSE THE BODY LOOKS REALLY GOOD AND FLOORS AND TRUNK LOOK REALLY SOLID. CAR IS 98% COMPLETE. UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

Mysterious white powder discovered at GM Orion Assembly

Fri, Sep 2 2016

Workers at General Motors Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township, MI uncovered a mysterious white powder in two different parts of the factory earlier this week, raising concerns about worker safety. "We can confirm that an unknown substance (white powder) was found on the floor outside of Gate 6 at Orion Assembly on Monday, August 29. On Tuesday, August 30, we had a second report of a bottle containing a similar substance found inside the plant," GM spokesperson Dayna Hart told The Oakland Press via email. GM stressed that incident didn't disrupt operations at the plant, and that the company was taking steps to ensure the safety of the sprawling factory's workers. That did include, an anonymous worker told The Oakland Press, closing off parts of the factory for two full days, as drug-sniffing dogs and crews in haz-mat suits descended on the area. "A sample of the substance has been sent to a laboratory for identification and results are expected later this week," Hart said. "All findings and actions have been shared with our employees." Orion Assembly currently builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, and will eventually be responsible for production of the new, all-electric Chevy Bolt early next year. Related Video:

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else?
