You are looking at a 1968 L79 Nova with the 327 325HP engine known as the L79. This car is 1 of 1274 cars ordered with the rare L79 motor option in the 1968 Chevrolet Nova. This is a factory floor shift 3 speed car with factory air condition. Only 317 cars didn't get upgraded from a three speed to a four speed. This Borg Warner M13 3 speed was the factory default transmission for the L79 and the L48 Super sport. The car is fully documented back to the original owner. Documentation includes the GM warranty protecto plate, original broadcast sheet, a copy of the original tittle and original registration. This car had a 2 year full rotisserie restoration. Everything is either rebuilt, re-plated, or replaced. A huge list of NOS parts were used. No expense was spared. The car was just featured in the March issue of Hemming's Muscle Machine magazine a 6 page restoration profile article. A truly unique car that is fully documented. This is the only known 1968 L79, 3 speed, fathom blue, AC car known to exist. It may just be 1 of 1? This is your time to own a truly rare car for your collection. The day the original owner picked up the car the motor failed 2 miles from the dealership. A replacement L79 short block was installed under warranty. The L79 block casting is 3914678 a large journal block and the casting date is I-22-7 The transmission is original to the car and matches the GM protecto plate. The rear is original and matches the GM protecto plate. The L79 is built to factory specs 11:1 30 over. I have 100's of pictures of the restoration which was done by me. Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty
Tue, 05 Mar 2013We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.
Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump
Mon, 11 Feb 2013To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
