PAINT AND BODY

Car originally spent most of its life in California until I bought it and began the restoration. Car was completley stripped and disassembled to bare metal with front clip removed along with doors and trunk lid and everything else. After it was media blasted. Being a california car it was still 43 years old and needed some metal to be replaced. The following metals were replaced because I wanted to do the job right not just put patches. Two full length floor pans, 4 speed tunnel hump and two full GM rear quater panels along with both outer wheel wells. none of these metals were foreign strictly usa Gm quality. The rest of the metal was in great shape with no rust or rot. All welding was professionally done and then sealed with paintable seam sealer. Each individual body part of the car was catalyised epoxy primered, blocked various times and painted then mounted back on car. Example doors, fenders, hood, trunk lid, cowl apprin, radiator support fender wells (inner fender splash sheilds painted as well). Subframe and firewall were painted as well as door jams, trunk lining, and dash before reassembly. Car was reassembled with new front end hardware kit which included shims, bolts, clips, etc. After assembly and body panels properly aligned car was sprayed 8 coats of PPG Ferrari Red paint and 10 coats of PPG clear. All products used for paint and clear were bought from PPG including Activator, Reducers, Prep Wash, Fish Eye Additive, ETC. See Pictures for anything that i may have missed because i can not describe in words how much time and detail were put into this car.

  • New Rear Windshield

WEATHERSTRIPS/GASKETS/FELPS

  • Window Channels (Front and Back Side Glass)

CHROMES

All Chromes and staineless steel mouldings were sent out to be redone (chemically stripped, polished, chromed, ETC)

Then all chromes and S.S mouldings were professionally installed with proper glass moulding clips, etc. Labor alone was $1,100. Reason for professionally installing the few chromes and mouldings were to avoid dings and dents and bends by amateurs who claim to know what they are doing. See pictures for results. The only things not rechromed were the bumpers because when taken to be rechromed no tanks in shop were big enough. The bumpers are original chrome from 1968 just buffed and polished.

Electrical

  • NEW L.E.D Conversion Tailights
  • NEW HeadLights
  • NEW Side Markers
  • NEW 75 Series Napa Legend Battery

The wire harness has options for power windows, power door locks, electric fan, electric fuel pump and two extra 30amp outlets for any other option you may want. Air conditioning is properly installed with its own outlet on the fuse panel. Wiring to head lights and all the way back to L.E.D tail light conversion are wrapped in painless wire wrap. Not that plastic stuff that gets cooked and cracks up after time, this is meant to last to protect the wiring of the car. Powering all of this is a brand new Napa 75 series battery being charged by a new internal regulated powermaster 140 amp sigle wire alternator.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. puts his Callaway Corvette and '55 Chevy on eBay

Sat, Jan 24 2015

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has put a couple of his personal cars up for sale on eBay. The first is a 1955 Chevy Bel Air that Junior had reworked by Funkmaster Flex, a bit of a diversion from Flex's more common Ford efforts. Junior's ride has a replacement chassis from Jim Meyer Racing, a 434 small-block tuned by Sharioff Racing to 500 horsepower, and truly thin rubber on what appear to be aluminum billet rims with Junior's former number 8 on the center caps. The interior is all custom and painted to match the outside, and those seats have been completely reupholstered. The second car is a 1999 Callaway C12, the 18th of 19 C12s built that year and featured in a 2002 issue of AutoWeek. It joined Earnhardt's private collection in 2004. Built on the base of a C5 Chevrolet Corvette and using a lot of technical know-how from Callaway's European racing program, the BMW #287 Blue Pearl C12 had its V8 bored out to 6.2 liters and graced with Callaway's Supernatural upgrade; it also has a Callaway coil-over suspension with adjustable dampers. There's new bodywork all around, and when new it cost about $200,000. At the time of writing bidding on the Bel Air was up to $80,100, the C12 was at $63,100. The auction ends Monday morning, and the winning bidders have the option of having their prizes autographed and retrieving the keys from Dale Jr himself if they're willing to go to Moorseville, NC. GM is training more first responders for EV emergencies in the U.S. and Canada

Mon, Jul 4 2022

GM is training more first responders to be able to handle emergencies involving electric vehicles. The automaker is "significantly expanding" its EV First Responder Training program in the United States and Canada as electric vehicle sales continue to grow. Its initiative will primarily focus on training firefighters and equipping them with the necessary knowledge about full electric vehicle technologies. GM says it's hoping to dispel misconceptions when it comes to handling EVs in emergency situations. One of those misconceptions is that water is dangerous around EV batteries — turns out the recommended way to put out lithium-ion battery fires is by using copious amounts of water.  Andrew Klock, a senior manager of education and development at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), said: "The best way for the public and private vehicle fleet owners to rapidly adopt EVs is to train firefighters and emergency responders on how to handle incidents involving battery powered vehicles. The fire service has had more than 100 years to gain the knowledge needed to respond to internal combustion engine fires, and it is critical that they are now educated on EV safety." The NFPA held trainings of its own that had benefited 300,000 first responders, but it believes more than 800,000 members of the community still need further training.   GM previously piloted the program in southeast Michigan, but now it's conducting training events across Michigan and in Fort Worth, Texas, as well. Later this summer, it's bringing the program to metro New York City and Southern California. Participants will have to attend four-hour sessions, with up to two per day, held in various venues, such as fire houses and dealerships. Interested first and second responders can register through the program's dedicated website and earn a certificate from the Illinois Fire Service Institute if they score higher than 70 percent on the learning assessment by the end of their training.  The automaker already has a few EV models on the market, including the Chevy Bolts, the GMC Hummer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. It has huge electrification plans for the future, though, and training responders could help make potential customers more receptive to the idea of switching to electric vehicles. GM aims to launch 30 EV models by 2025 and to exclusively sell EVs ten years after that. Related video: Green Cadillac Chevrolet GM GMC Safety Electric
