1963 Nova SS Convertible, I will tell you just as it was told to me from the gentleman that I got the car from, he bought the car from a dealer in TN, the car was a factory 6 cyl auto car. The car was just as you see it other then the stock suspension and original drive train. He bought the car and sent it to Atlanta where all the work was done, The front suspension was changed out to something a little more modern that gave the car disk brakes up front and rack and pinion steering, the rear end of the car was taken out and completely rebuilt with a posi unit and disk brakes as well. The rear of the car has a Cal track system under it, for better traction. The motor in the car is a brand new GM Crate small block 350, backed by a turbo 350. The motor is stock cause these cars don't need a lot of power to go, and I will say that this car has plenty of power. The car has headers and a flow master exhaust kit, which sounds great for this little car. The car still retains its factory interior, which is a darker tan or brown color. The interior is buckets and a factory console. The shifter is the stock shifter to look factory but the shift pattern is not the same as factory, all you do is pull the handle straight back and forward to go through the gears. The car was factory with a power top, that is the same color as the interior. The trunk is finished in splatter paint which I think Is correct for the car. The car rides and drives on billet specialties wheels and new tires.  This car is pretty much the definition of pro touring, it is totally stock appearing but the drive train has been totally redone to modern updates to give the car a better ride and drive. The only thing the car really needs now is A/c, and I was planning on doing that If I kept it. The car rides and drives perfect with no issues. Everything on the car works just like it should with no problems. A perfect car for anyone that was to just jump in and cruise. The car looks amazing and has even one trophies at shows, so its certainly one that someone can get in and cruise to the show and win and then drive home, all while enjoying the looks you get with the top down. The car is for sale locally and is subject to be taken off if sold. The car is also sold as is with no warranty. A 25% deposit is due within 3 days of the auctions end and the balance within 7 more when the car is to be picked up or arrangements are made for the car to be shipped. If you have any questions about the car please fill free to ask and I will gladly answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks and God Bless Charlie 251-751-7530

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
