1970 Monte Carlo Ex Show Car Tire Roasting 396/402 Big Block Th400 12 Bolt on 2040-cars
Seattle, Washington, United States
This EX SHOW CAR has been parked outside since 2012. The only reason it was parked then, was because it was bumped lightly in the left-front while the driver was texting. The car has had the same owner for 17 years. This is originally a CA rust-free car. The 396/402 roared to life with fresh gas & a new filter. The motor has a perfect cold-start (no puff of blue or any tick-tick). The motor clearly has a camshaft upgrade from stock and I would be happy to send a video to an email address or smart phone at your request. The pans and trunk are solid. The rear quarters & rocker panels are fantastic. The area around the rear window is perfect. As you can see by the pictures, this car was quite something in it's day (under the truck lid, hood lid, firewall & inner fender wall still sport a mirror paint job). With a Th400, 12 bolt diff & big radiator I believe it to be a factory big block car. If there is evidence to the contrary, please let me know. The steering wheel is a cheap replacement, due to the previous owner losing the key to his club. The areas where the paint flaked off is not rusted-through, it is merely surface corrosion. This is a driving car. What you see is what you will get. Of course it needs everything if you want it to be perfect. This is the same platform as a 1970 Chevelle SS 396. If I didn't already have '67 & '63 chev's in my garage, I would keep it (I'd paint it flat black, put on some Radial TA's & ralleys, tint the glass & roll around in a totally sinister looking car).
If you want me to send you more photos or video, let me know. CORY (206)817-2653 (call or text) If you "lack the stones" or need to "talk to the wife," please get your affairs in order, before you bid on the car. I have been selling cars at the same location in Seattle, since 1989 (over 12,000 sold). I have extensive experience shipping cars all over the country as well as internationally. Email me for a quote. |

Chevy up to old EVs-equal-range-anxiety tricks in new Volt Olympics ad
Fri, Feb 14 2014General Motors is at it again with a new Chevrolet Volt TV commercial. Viewers of the Winter Olymics (at least in some markets) recently saw a TV ad in between the skating and the skiing that made no mention of the environmental benefits or freedom from the power of Big Oil that electric vehicles provide. No, this one was based on pure survival instinct. In the video, a father is driving down a highway, perhaps through the Mojave Desert. His young son is sitting in the Volt's backseat and asks what happens when the EV's battery runs out. "We'll have to cross that burning desert with snakes and cactus until we make it back to civilization," the dad tells his son as they pass the skeleton of a fallen bull. The fine print makes it clear that the actual maximum range is 342 miles. But there is hope. The father tells his son, with a beaming smile on his face, that the gas generator has kicked in and they're going to make it through the desert. As they wend their way to the horizon, a voice over says that Volt drivers who charge up regularly are making it 900 miles between fill ups. The fine print makes it clear that the actual official maximum range before you need to either plug in or fill up is 342 miles. This theme that emphasized range anxiety has been utilized by GM since the extended range Volt was launched in late 2010, despite the fact that Chevrolet now offers an all-electric vehicle in the Spark EV. Volt fans are praising the commercial, called The New Freedom, on the GM-Volt forum and you can see for yourself below. This content is hosted by a third party. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit
Mon, 04 Mar 2013We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.
