I am selling my 1976 Chev Malibu to a good home . Here is some history on the car. The original owner passed away and the car was put into storage on blocks for 24 years. The 2nd owner had a new gas tank, radiator, brakes, shocks, complete tune up, new battery and Radiator. They barely used the car in the time they owned it . I purchased the car 5 years ago and have taken good care of it since. I have done a few things to the car in the time I have owned it such as, New BF Goodrich T/A tires ( less than 200 miles on the tires and I have the original tires still for the car, the spare tire is original) New dual exhaust with catalytic converters, New springs, changed the a/c over to R134 and works well ( blower switch needs to be replaced as it will not blow on high setting) I have had all the fluids in the car replaced as well . The car has power steering , power brakes.

I also have a new complete weather stripping kit as well as new hood insulation and door sill plates and a new master cylinder, deck lid and new hood ornament ( not included in the sale price ) These items I will sell for an additional price if you are interested.

More pictures are available if requested.

I have babied this car since I have owned it and only used it for car shows. It is all original including the paint ( paint cracking, GM lacquer paint is bad for this )  . there is a little bubbling under the original vinyl and the glue is starting to show through ... the roof will need to be replaced but has no rips . The body has a few very small dents but nothing major , there is no rust on the car ! The interior is perfect ! never smoked in and the seats as well as the carpet and head liner is perfect with no rips, the dash is perfect with no cracks ! the car runs very well but the seals will need replacing at some point from age . The transmission has a leak but shifts smoothly. I have no reservations on driving this car anywhere as it runs very well. It does smoke when you first start it but it does NOT BURN OIL !  ( I was told by a mechanic I need to replace the valve stem seals or the car just needs a good run from sitting all the time. I don't have the time to work on or fully enjoy this car and it just sits in the garage 99% of the time. I have an appraisal which values the car at 8000.00 before I had the new tires and dual exhaust added.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

GM shows off 'digital vehicle platform' enabling more in-car tech and OTA updates

Wed, May 22 2019

It appears to have dropped the sobriquet "Global B," but General Motors' new electrical architecture has bowed in drawings and video. This is the "digital vehicle platform" GM president Mark Reuss spoke to Reuters about in 2015, saying it would move a great deal of a vehicle's computer work to the cloud and enable over-the-air updates. Reuss took the microphone for the debut, too, saying, "Our new digital vehicle platform and its eventual successors will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving." The system will go into production later this year, appearing in dealerships first either on the 2020 Cadillac CT5 or the mid-engined 2020 Chevrolet Corvette. Yes, these are the same electronics cited for delaying the launch of the C8 Corvette over excessive draw, security and getting the more-than-100 computer modules to communicate seamlessly. When Car and Driver asked about that, GM replied with "No comment." Volkswagen's having the same issues with the Mk8 Golf right now, though, so GM isn't alone, and this will be the new normal among OEMs for a while. What's certifiable is that the new architecture is robust enough to handle 4.5 terabytes of data per hour, which is five times what GM's current wiring can handle. And thanks to Ethernet connections of 100 Mbps, 1 Gbs and 10 Gbs, communication within and without the vehicle happens much faster. The advances mean better screen resolutions, better battery management for hybrids and electric vehicles, the capability for over-the-air updates and "functionality upgrades throughout the lifespan of the vehicle." Cadillac's Super Cruise has already been lined up as a leading candidate for constant improvements in the driving assistance suite, a key part of GM's "vision for a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion." And whenever GM decides to take the plunge, it will mean a 48-volt electrical system. More than 300 specialists worked on the digital platform, and security was a huge part of the task. We've already heard that GM consulted with Boeing and military contractors on how to prevent hacking. The carmaker has an internal Product Cybersecurity group that reached out to the research community, and created a "bug bounty" program to crowdsource uncovering any flaws.

GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall

Tue, Apr 14 2015

Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments.
