Hello, Here is a 1958 Impala. Factory Onyx Black Car with 348 4 Barrel. Engine is Numbers Matching Original and runs great! This car underwent full restoration about 5,000 miles ago and is very correct and original overall. It has a 4 speed Muncie transmission. Prior Owner said it was special ordered that way, I have yet to be able to verify this. If true, it would make this one of only a very few. Either way, it is a lot of fun to drive with the Manual Trans. Chevrolet's First Impala and first "Big Block" This Car runs smooth and strong and is a pleasure to drive. Included are 2 sets of tires, both shown in photos, a correct set of Bias Ply Wide Whitewalls, and a set of Radials (near new) for cruising. Trim and chrome are a huge consideration on these Cars, and both are very, very nice. Emblems and badges are Beautiful. Doors close with a touch of a finger. Paint has some minor imperfections. Gloss is Excellent. Trunk and floor pans are Excellent. Interior speaks for itself. Attention to detail abounds, even things like the gaskets under the tail and parking lights have been replaced. Suspension and steering components are new or rebuilt. Wiring is new. Original Radio included, has retro-look stereo with USB input. Dash was NOT cut. Car Cover, service manual, Owner's manual included. This Car has incredible Charisma, and garner's more hoots, hollers, waves and Thumbs-up than any Car I have owned. Of course, I have clear Title in my name. Overall, a very nice example of this Car at a reasonable price. Local show winner. You are welcome to inspect or appraise the Car in person at my location and at your expense. Car is sold as-is, where is, and any and all expense for travel, shipping or anything else is buyer's responsibility. This Car loves to be driven. Do you Love to drive? You might be a match. Car is in Caldwell, Idaho 83605. If you want to talk about the Car, please email me your phone number. THANKS, AND GOOD LUCK! I |

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error
Sun, Feb 8 2015After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare. Question of the Day: What's the most irritating car name?
Wed, Mar 9 2016You hear a lot about how the Chevrolet Nova was a sales flop in Mexico because "No va" means "it doesn't go" in Spanish; in fact, the Nova sold pretty well south of the border, and in any case most Spanish-speakers know that "Nova" means "new" in Latin and Portuguese. However, General Motors doesn't deserve to be let off the hook for bad car names, because the Oldsmobile Achieva— no doubt inspired by the excruciating "coffee achievers" ads of the 1980s— scrapes the biggest fingernails down the screechiest chalkboard in the US-market car-name world. That is, unless you think Daihatsu's incomprehensible choice of Charade was worse. Meanwhile, Japanese car buyers could get machines with cool names like Mazda Bongo Friendee or Honda Life Dunk. It's just not fair! So, what car name drives you the craziest? Related Video: Auto News Design/Style Chevrolet Honda Mazda Daihatsu Automotive History questions car names
