THIS IS MY 1999 CHEVROLET 3500 EXPRESS VAN WITH THE EXTENDED BODY .  THE VAN IS HERE AT MY RESIDENCE IN MILWAUKEE AND HAS TO BE TOWED .  THE VAN IS FOR THE MANY SALVAGE PARTS OR FOR REPAIR .I WAS USING THE VEHICLE UP TILL THIS PAST DECEMBER . NOVEMBER IT HAD 4 BRAND NEW TIRES FROM FIRESTONE PUT ON AT A COST OF $700. IN NOVEMBER IT HAD A NEW MUFFLER PUT ON AT AN EXORBITANT COST OF $600. I WAS PROBERBLY TAKEN FOR A RIDE THERE .IN DECEMBER I HAD A NEW BATTERY PUT IN AT A COST OF $145. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND I ASSUMED IT WAS THE BATTERY, WRONG . TRY TO START AND  CLICK CLICK CLICK . I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE STARTER . WELL NOW I HAVE A NEW GMC AND DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP PUTTING MONEY IN TO THIS VEHICLE .THE VAN NEVER LEAKED FLUIDS BUT NOW SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE SUB ZERO WINTER IT HAS NOW BEEN DRIPPING A FLUID OF SOME TYPE .BOTH BASE SIDES HAVE RUST . THE REAR DOORS WERE HIT BY A VEHICLE WHILE PARKED AND WERE SMASHED AS YOU SEE . THE DOORS STILL SLAM SHUT THOUGH . OTHER DIGS, DENTS ,RUST ETC; .THE VAN HAS BEEN USED FOR DELIVERIES SO THE 4 LONG PASSENGER SEATS ARE NOT THERE ,I GOT RID OF THOSE A FEW YEARS AGO . THERE IS THE SPARE TIRE, EMERGENCY TOOL KIT THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE 1999 OWNERS MANUAL . THE LIGHTS ,HEATER,RADIO WORK . SO IF YOU DO NOT CARE TO TRY AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE THERE ARE CERTAINLY MANY PARTS THAT CAN BE USED . I BELIEVE ONE OF THOSE LONG WINDOWS COST ME AROUND $400 .I WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE CALLED A SALVAGE BUSNESS BUT I AM SURE THEY WOULD NOT TAKE IN TO ACCOUNT THE NEW TIRES, MUFFLER OR BATTERY . SO THIS ONCE OLD FAITHFUL FRIEND IS BEING SOLD AS IS,WHERE IS WITH NO GUARANTEE , WARRANTY.  PAYMENT WITHIN 3 DAYS . YOU MUST ARRANGE FOR THE VAN TO BE TOWED .  THANKS.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
