Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this classic 1972 Chevrolet El Camino musclecar. This example sports a recent crate 454 engine with performance extras. Approximately 2,000 miles have been logged on this engine. We have receipts for the work performed. The engine and transmission were installed by Luttrull McNatt Chevrolet in Sanger, Texas. This car/truck is very fun to drive and a real head-turner with its red finish & white SS stripes. Enjoy our presentation and feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions.
Many of our photos of this El Camino were taken at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom. Be sure to visit our friends at the Flight Museum should you find yourself in Dallas, Texas.
The exterior is finished in bright red with full Super Sport 454 badging throughout along with SS stripes on the cowl induction hood.
Note there are some chips along the door edge as seen above.
Close inspection of the paint will reveal an overall good polished finish with some imperfections. There are some chip touch-ups and a substantial area of rust through starting to show through the paint in a lower quarter panel area. This area is below and to the right of the fuel filler door (see above).
The white vinyl top really fits the car well and is in excellent condition.
Open the doors to 1972.
The interior features your standard black vinyl '72 El Camino affair with bucket seating and factory gauges along with an underdash trio of engine vital gauges.
This is a 7.4 Liter GM Crate 454HO installed in late 2007 with verifying receipts. Approximately 2,000 miles have been logged on it thus far.
Under the hood is the crate 454 c.i. V8 making approximately 425 horsepower. Induction is courtesy of a Demon 4bbl. carburetor & aluminum intake. Exhaust gases are expelled through reliable cast-iron manifolds to custom dual pipes & mufflers. Chrome tips exit the rear. Ignition duties are handled by an Accell HEI distributor. This is a great running & driving El Camino. The engine compartment displays factory air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes. The TH350 automatic transmission is a remanufactured unit by Jasper transmission.Further inspection of the engine compartment confirm solid original sheetmetal throughout the firewall, inner fenders, and core support.
The performance built TH350 automatic shifts as it should should, nice and firm. It is clean and dry underneath. There are not a lot of miles logged on this drivetrain at all.
The undercarriage displays excellent original floor pans and frame throughout. The engine and transmission undersides are clean. The 10-bolt differential is in very good condition. This is a dry climate car.
These classic 15-Inch SS wheels are fitted with raised white letter radial tires.
The custom dual exhaust sounds great, like only a healthy big block 454 does. Be sure to play the video.
The bed is in excellent condition, inside and out.
The tailgate is clean and straight. The paint looks great throughout the bed and tailgate as does the trim.
The brightwork and badging is in excellent condition throughout this El Camino.
The original vin identification plate and trim plate are intact and legible. Originally a Covert Tan cruiser, this Chevelle / El Camino has been built into a 454 powered muscletruck.
Enjoy our remaining photo slideshow and again feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions.

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we. We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak. So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models. The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever. GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction. Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition. But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
