The vehicle is fairly complete, but is missing a few chrome mouldings and possibly other items. If you don't see it in the pictures, I do not have it."

Up for sale is a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS-396, project car/barn find.   It is a midwest vehicle with rust that needs a complete restoration. I do not have a build sheet or any other documentation, but it appears to be a correct "SS-396" Super Sport El Camino.  Odometer shows 62,790 miles, but probably is incorrect. It has factory air conditioning, tilt steering column, power steering, power front disc brakes, turbo 400 automatic transmission, 12-bolt rearend, 396 cubic inch V-8 engine with Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Interior has a bench seat with automatic shifter on column, factory SS gauges and tachometer. Radio is an aftermarket unit.  It has the "SS" hood (without the cowl induction flapper). The front bumper is from a Chevelle, and is not correct for an El Camino. It has correct 14 inch "SS" 5-spoke wheels.  The engine runs and sounds good. The transmission goes into gear, but I have not driven the vehicle as the brakes are not in working order. Please look the pictures over and ask any questions that you may have before placing a bid. This vehicle is being sold "As Is", with no warranty.  I have the vehicle for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. I require a deposit of $200 via PayPal within  24 hours of auction ending and the balance paid in full within 7 days in cash or U.S. Post office money orders. Vehicle must be picked up within a reasonable amount of time. After 30 days, a storage fee of $30 per day will apply. Thank you and good luck bidding.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Cadillac could base its entry-level sedan on the Chevy Cruze [UPDATE]

Wed, Apr 27 2016

UPDATE: Cadillac spokesperson Donny Nordlicht tells Autoblog , "The post speculating on a future Cadillac model derived from the Chevrolet Cruze is completely false." Premium automakers Mercedes-Benz and Audi have seen plenty of success with new small front-drive-based sedans. The CLA-Class had its best January ever this year, while Audi moved more of its new A3 in 2015 than its predecessor sold in 2005 through 2010 combined. The fact that Cadillac wants a piece of that pie is no surprise, then. There's a new rumor that GM's luxury brand could launch its own compact – possibly called CT2 – to battle the Germans. Cadillac, a brand that's pushed hard to rebuild its rear-drive reputation, could develop a new entry-level model based on the front-wheel-drive 2016 Chevrolet Cruze's D2XX platform. Go ahead and make your Cimarron jokes. Sources are telling GM Inside News that a Cadillac built on the Delta platform would ditch the Cruze's turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder for a 1.5-liter turbo in base models. General Motors' well received 2.0-liter turbo four would serve in higher-end models. According to GMIN, the Delta-based Cadillac would likely command a $6,000 to $9,000 premium over the Cruze, so figure $23,000 to $26,000 on the low end to $30,000 to $33,000 for something at the top of the range. As much as we dislike the kind of badge engineering that brought us the Cavalier-based Cadillac Cimarron in the '80s, the company has done an admirable job of distinguishing vehicles on shared platforms lately. A Delta-platform Cadillac would at least have a good basis – the new Cruze is surprisingly comfy. That said, we question GM's rationale if this rumor is indeed true. Put simply, Cadillac needs another sedan like I need another student loan payment. The company has four sedans, three of which overlap two segments, and none of which are selling very well. That's not because they're bad, but because customers want crossovers, of which Caddy has but one – the new XT5. Spending the time and money to add a fifth sedan to the mix when the company desperately needs to flesh out its CUV range would be a tremendous mistake. As much as we hate to say it, if Cadillac really wants to add a small, entry-level car to its range, it'd better be a crossover. Related Video:

Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.
