1959 Chevrolet El Camino on 2040-cars
Gresham, Oregon, United States
Complete restoration, both cosmetic and mechanical, on straight, stock, matching-numbers, 348 big-block-engine car.
This car has been carefully restored. The paint job alone took three years to complete and cost over $8,000. Straight body, all new stainless steel trim, re-chromed bumpers, and new rubber. The car sits on deep chrome reverse wheels and white wall tires. Re-upholstered interior, re-covered and re-conditioned 1959 El Camino seat with refurbished springs. New carpet. The engine is a big block 348 with a hydro 3-speed column shift and 4-barrel carburetor. The transmission is a stock powerglide. New front end and steering, completely replaced with all new components. Steering box and alignment completed by Schroeder's Custom Speed. Body is laser-straight with new glass and new tire-wheel combination. This El Camino is completely stock. It is fully restored, and runs and looks great. I have owned the car for over 12 years and have stored it carefully in my heated studio. Price is market competitive for this beautiful car at $26,000. |

C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey
Mon, 25 Feb 2013If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.

Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future
Wed, 19 Nov 2014The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
