Selling my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco (I bought it new in May2011). Vehicle description is below:
- 71282 miles, 90% highway (use to travel 180 miles/day for work), still under 100K powertrain warranty
- 1.4L Turbo engine, 6 speed manual transmission
- 42 mpg highway rating on 87 octane (accurate estimate, I've averaged 39 mpg over the life of the car)
- 17" Alloy wheels
- Summit white exterior, medium titanium interior color
- CD/MP3 Player, Bluetooth / Hands-free calling, Cruise control, steering wheel controls, USB port, XM radio, Onstar
Vehicle is in great condition both mechanically and cosmetically. All parts, buttons and car options work as they should. Only blemishes I found with the car as it sits were 1) some typical small rock chips on front bumper/hood, none very noticeable and 2) small bit of curb rash on one wheel (doesn't affect wheel balance at all). Tires have 10-15K more miles worth left. All maintenance was done as prescribed; car is very low maintenance cost (I typically went 7-8K miles before oil changes were needed on semi-synthetic).
Title is free and clear in hand. Only selling because I no longer commute and have bought a new truck.

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
