This is a beautiful, exceptionally maintained, one owner, world class sports car.  I received delivery of the Grand Sport at Watson Chevrolet, at Tucson, Arizona in April, 2011 (MSRP: $62,120).   I chose the Grand Sport because of several important features not available in the standard coupe.  Visually, what first catches your attention are the flaired fenders, which are required to accommodate the larger tires and wheels.  The suspension includes components and massive brakes from the Z06.  Handling is further improved by the Magnetic Ride Control ($1,695).  A turn of the control knob from Tour to Sport and the suspension immediately stiffens and improves handling and control. The dry sump oil system holds 10 quarts and assures that the engine does not starve for oil in tight turns, braking, or acceleration.  The Dual Mode Exhaust ($1,195) system opens the exhaust baffles at 3,750 rpm as the engine hits it's torque curve, and creates a sound that is pure music.  Also included is the Mild 2 Wild exhaust control system that with a push of a button on the remote control, opens the exhaust baffles and lets the owner appreciate the sound  of the engine from idle to red line.

The LT2 package ($1,195) provided adjustable sport bucket seats with perforated leather inserts; power seat adjustments for driver and passenger, luggage shade and cargo net, and Bluetooth connection for phones.   The chrome aluminum wheels ($1,995), and the Supersonic Blue ($300) were the icing on the cake.

The Grand Sport has always been garaged.  The high gloss finish was maintained using Meguiars' Cleaner Wax.  Only Mobile 1 silicon based oil has been used.   It was always hand washed, and has never seen the inside of a car wash. Exterior and interior are a "10."  No one has smoked in the car.  My fuel economy ranges from around 19 mpg (suburban driving) to 26 plus mpg on the highway.

The General Motors warranty is good for another 84,000+ miles.  Service records are available on request.  The original Corvette Owner's CD and MSRP window sticker are included in the sale.  Please let me know if you have further questions.

Over the last ten years, I sold my 2003 and 2008 Corvettes on eBay, and now my 2011.  Please note that we have 100% satisfaction from our 683 eBay transactions.   I hope the future owner enjoys this Grand Sport as much as we have.   It's a great automobile.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro First Drive [w/video]

Fri, Oct 16 2015

The Autoblog gang was downright stoked to learn the 2016 Chevy Camaro was next on our test-car docket. Then we found out it was the V6 model. Buzzkill. We were hoping for the snorting V8, or at least the spunky new turbo four-cylinder. The V6? Meh. We've been driving V6 Camaros for, like, six years. It's what you buy if you can't afford anything better, or so say horsepower snobs as they wrinkle their noses and cut their coffee with 93 octane. But after a week with the six-pot Camaro, we'll admit it: we were wrong. The all-new 3.6-liter V6 is strong, sounds good, and is damn fun to drive. Its 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque appear modest by modern standards, but they power the Camaro to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds with the automatic, or in the case of our manual-equipped test car, 5.2 seconds. That's almost half a second quicker than the new turbo four-cylinder model. Yes, it has the same displacement as the old V6. No, it's not the same engine. Upon closer inspection, the V6's potency shouldn't come as a surprise. This engine is from General Motors' newest family of dual-overhead cam powerplants that launched in the Cadillac CTS and ATS. Yes, it has the same displacement as the old V6. No, it's not the same engine. Don't be fooled, and don't underestimate it at stoplights. The strapping V6 is unsuspectingly good, but it's just one of many improvements for the sixth-generation Camaro. Chevy's coupe is lighter, faster, and more modern looking inside and out. It starts with a rear-wheel-drive chassis donated from the Cadillac ATS, though about 70 percent of the components are unique to the Camaro. The 2016 model is about two inches shorter in length (thanks to a shorter wheelbase) and about an inch has been removed from height and width compared to the 2015 model. These lighter underpinnings jumpstarted the Camaro's weight-loss plan, and thanks to extensive use of aluminum, the V6 with the new eight-speed automatic transmission weighs 3,435 pounds – 294 less than its predecessor (the manual-transmission V6 Camaro weighs 3,448 pounds). The V8, meanwhile, sheds 223 pounds. One by one, these elements would merely enhance how the Camaro drives, but taken collectively, they invigorate the new model. It feels much more confident and agile in all circumstances. Put simply, it's a sportier car. View 32 Photos Grab second, let the revs build, and the dual-mode exhaust changes its tune from a low buzz to a rumble, then a growl.

GM's latest production delays: Colorado/Canyon, Cadillac CT4/CT5, Camaro

Wed, Mar 24 2021

DETROIT — General Motors Co extended production cuts in North America on Wednesday due to a worldwide semiconductor chip shortage that has impacted the auto sector. The U.S. automaker said its Wentzville, Missouri, assembly plant would be idled during the weeks beginning March 29 and April 5. It will extend down time at its plant in Lansing, Michigan, which has been idled since March 15, by two weeks. The action was factored into GM's prior forecast that it could shave up to $2 billion off this year's profit, spokesman David Barnas said. GM did not disclose how much volume would be lost by the move, but said it intended to make up as much lost production as possible later in the year. The chip shortage came as North American auto plants were shut for two months during the COVID-19 pandemic last year and chip orders were canceled, and as demand surged from the consumer electronics industry as people worked from home and played video games. That's now left carmakers competing for chips. Semiconductors are used extensively in cars, including to monitor engine performance, manage functions for everything from steering to automatic windows, and in sensors used in parking and entertainment systems. Vehicles affected by the GM production cuts include the mid-sized pickup trucks, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in Missouri, and the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 and Chevy Camaro cars in Michigan. Meanwhile, GM said its San Luis Potosi, Mexico, assembly plant, idled since Feb. 8, will resume production with two shifts beginning the week of April 5. Last week, GM said it was building certain 2021 light-duty full-size pickups without a fuel management module, hurting their fuel economy performance by one mile per gallon. Exacerbating the shortage is a recent fire at a Renesas Electronics chip plant in Japan. Barnas said GM was assessing the impact of the fire. Â
