Frame Off 1967 Marlboro Maroon Corvette Coupe 427/390 w/ "4 Season" Factory AC

This is the real deal, and a real opportunity to own a real classic that been meticulously restored to its original glory.  I cannot express the thrill of turning the key and firing up the big block 427, or the torque as the clutch is released and the gas pedal is pressed down – nothing I can do could create that rush but I will try to link a YouTube video so you can at least hear it.

The car is near perfect – and it is without doubt the cleanest one I have ever seen and while it has never been shown or judged to prove its excellence and presence, at least when you do and it does win the trophies, ribbons, plaques and certificates it will all be YOURS and not someone else’s!!

This color is near impossible to photograph and capture it’s true essence as it changes in different light and the time of day but the clear coat is deep and shiny like the chrome. This frame off restoration of this Texas car was completed in 1993 with the coachwork done by Bob’s Big Boys Toys in Victoria Texas and the machine work completed by Dave at the vintage experts in Austin Texas with “The Cylinder Head Shop”.

The reality of offering this magnificent car here on eBay is to get lots of visibility – and start any dialogue, questions and answers and provide documentation and more pictures and of course  inspections.  It is not our intention to create a museum quality advertisement or educate everyone on the history of the Corvette or how rare or special this last year of the C2 is and how rare the combination of options from the factory are – if you know these cars you will know what you want to see and what questions you want answered.

Regardless, I have included some key pictures below that can be enlarged in groups of about 24 that capture many highlights of the perfection to detail and quality of the finish that puts this car in the hunt as a true find and treasure.  The current owner is my close personal friend as was the previous owner his brother who is no longer with us.   I have known them for 30 years, and you will learn of the roots in Texas history that this car came from all the way back to the original owner that did not make it home while serving his country in Vietnam.  Yes, kind of like a Private Malone story.

In addition I think it goes without saying that we have all the pre and post restoration pictures and receipts that I have tried to attach below in the eBay listing but will also provide a link on shutterfly.  The title is here and clean, the original owners manual and build sheet, all the receipts with details on the parts and machine work done and more.  All the numbers match on this car with over $30,000 in receipts in 1992 and only 100 miles since.  The engine was removed and rebuilt (details available) and the factory options both common and rare and included

Cadillac CT6 production ceases January 2020 as part of D-Ham layoffs

Fri, Dec 6 2019

General Motors filed paperwork under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act with Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity this week, detailing events to come at the automaker's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Starting February 28, 814 salaried and hourly workers at D-Ham, as its called, will be laid off. The 753 workers represented by the UAW will begin receiving offers in January to relocate to facilities in Michigan and Ohio, or buyout offers. As the 4-million-square-foot plant winds down through April 3 to a skeleton crew, the Cadillac CT6 ceases production in January 2020, and the last Chevrolet Impala comes off the line on February 28. The loss of the CT6 represents the end of Cadillac's latest brief, and highly regarded, adventure into flagship sedans. It might also mean the end of the 4.2-liter Blackwing twin-turbo V8 engine, at least for the moment. Both casualties are calamities. The death of the Impala closes the door on a nameplate in production for 52 years since 1957, having started off as a top-tier trim for the 1958 Bel Air known as the Bel Air Impala, once advertised with the line, "Lets you know you're the boss." As part of the new four-year labor agreement with the UAW, GM is keeping D-Ham open to build a new line of battery-electric vehicles, ultimately investing $3 billion and tripling employment to 2,225 workers when fully operational. The agreement described the coming EV as a "van" that would commence production in late 2021, but various reports say what's actually coming is a range of premium EVs in pickup and SUV bodystyles under the program codename BT1. The easy predictions put an electric GMC Sierra and Cadillac Escalade among the EV fold, but not until 2023, according to auto industry forecaster LMC Automotive. Before that, LMC claims an electric van will debut in late 2021, along with a battery-powered rebirth of the Hummer brand in pickup and SUV forms, also in late 2021.

GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Fri, Apr 24 2015

"Corvette" has stood for American muscle, American sports car, and American supercar. In many cases, it still stands for America: liberty on the go, LS-powered freedom. There was also a time when it meant really impressive numbers that didn't equate to really impressive handling, and a not-so-nice cabin. The handling issue really turned the road-legal corner when the C5 Z06 was introduced in 2001, and by the time the super-duper ZR1 ended its run in 2010, Corvette had exorcised practically all of its dynamic demons. But when I took a seat in the 2015 Corvette Z06 on the first day of my week-long loan, I espied a few demons still squatting in the interior. When colleague Seyth Miersma drove the Z06, he wrote, "Listen, I'm not going to be the guy that dogs the Corvette for having a cheap-feeling interior, this generation has put those once-legitimate claims to rest." Well, I am going to be that guy, because I don't think those claims have been put to rest. One day Chevy will give us leather that looks and feels like leather, instead of the astonishingly thin hide that is laid directly on top of the instrument panel structure. This material was set off by white stitching, but there were no seams, just a trail of white stitches. In some places it was hard to tell where the leather ended and the plastic began; or it might all have been the same upholstery, I don't know. Five dollars of foam padding would add five thousand dollars of luxury to the cockpit. One day Corvette will have plastics that don't look so plasticky. I know General Motors can do it. And after years of thinking Corvette seats were too wide and flat, this latest Z06 is almost there. The seatbacks were nice, but the exaggerated side bolstering on the seat bottoms was too narrow and sharp. That's a personal preference, though; other drivers with thinner thighs will think differently. My complaint isn't that the interior isn't luxurious, it's that it's not luxurious enough. If Chevrolet was worried about pricing, it could add some kind of profligate package to the options list. Have some ex-Porsche people design it, call it the Teutonic Splendor Package, slap a massive price on it, and count the money. People will buy it, and no one will ever have to say again, "But the interior..." That said, this test car's cabin had every feature I wanted. The gauge cluster was bright, crisp, and readable in every shade of daylight.
