Chevrolet Corvette Convertible on 2040-cars
Bonaire, Georgia, United States
1970 was the shortest production year of the Corvettes because of a GM strike that started later part of 1969 and went on thru alot of 1970. Because of this only 17,316 Corvettes were made and of this number only 6648 were convertible making the 1970 models one of the most sought after years because of the smaller amount made. Here is a very, very nice 1970 Chevy Corvette Convertible. This car only has 31,740 documented miles. ( See Pic ) It has the Matching Number 350 engine with 350 HP and 4 Speed transmission. It has the hard top and soft top. It's the factory color of Cortez Silver ( Paint Code 986 ) with Black Vinyl Interior ( Trim code 400 ). ( It has had 1 re paint )The body is super straight. All gauges work like they should. All lights work and the headlights come up like they are suppose too. The wipers work as well. The bumpers are nice. This car did not come with A/C and has No A/C now. It is just like it came from factory. It has power steering, tilt steering column and new front Disc brakes that were just put on. It has the original Carb. that was just completely rebuilt and it does great. I have pics of the engine numbers to show they match the Vin and to show it's a Factory 350/350 HP 4 Speed Car. This car is in great condition. It would be hard to find many faults with this Vette!! The door window rubbers are a little dry rotted but are the original ones. That is about the only flaw I can see. I have alot more pics of this car that if your interested in it you need to see. This Corvette looks better in person to me than in pics but I have enough pics to give you a good idea of the condition this car is in. I have the original owners manual. This Corvette is also For Sale locally and on other sites so auction could end early.

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?
Fri, Jul 21 2017General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
