1965 Chevrolet Corvair 500 Up for sale is my 1965 Chevy Corvair 500 that I personally restored for a friend. Things dont turn out like they should sometimes so we have to sell it. This car was bought from a wrecking yard in Las Vegas and it had been sitting their since 1975 and still has the original Nevada plates. I have pictures of the restoration process just send me your email and I can send them if you are interested. It was taken apart completely and sandblasted inside and out and underneath. Mike Lucas from Pharump Nv did all the body work and paint. He smoothed both front and rear bumpers smothed out the front end by taking out the hump for the front license plate and turn signals. Then he smoothed out the dash and shaved off the wiper blades. Next the door handles were shaved as wheel as the gas door and rerouted it to the trunk. The emblems were all shaved except for the rear deck lid 140 emblem. The rear also had exhaust holes cut out for the dual headers. Then painted a Brilliant Bright Silver. The front suspension has been completely rebuilt with new ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, speedo cable, shocks and new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware. Next it received a new fuel tank and sending unit with all new rubber hoses and clamps. The I rebuilt the rear suspension with some new hardware, new bushings, rebuilt rear bearings, new springs, new shocks and new brake shoes wheel cylinders and hardware. Axles were rebuilt with new universal U joints. Next was installing the freshley rebuilt 140hp engine. All the shrouds have been powder coated and everything else either blasted or repainted. The carbs are freshley rebuilt by Marty Katz and the engine was built by the Corvair Doctor. It has a rebuilt posi diff with a offenhouser polished cover/breather and a rebuilt 2 speed powerglide from Clarks Corvairs. The engine also received Offy valve covers and oil pan with a pair of Clarks Ultimate Headers. Also has rebuilt correct 140hp distributor with electronic ignition and new motor and trans mounts. Next it recived a brand new set of Boss Motorsports 18x8 and 18x10 with brand new Falken tires. Then all the trim has been professionally repolished, new tail light lenses, new winsheild and original T3 headlamps. Also has all new weather strips rubber bumbers and fuzzies. The interior has been completely redone first we replaced the front bench with two bucket seat from another 65 Corvair and recoverd with the non 500 interior all covers bought from clarks. All the trim has either been polished or replated including the wood steering wheel. Rebuilt speedo and dash colored keyed. New headliner dome light and carpet. The entire floor boards from back to front are coverd with Dynamate insulation. It has Auto-Loc door poppers installed as wheel for the keyless entry. All the wiring harnesses were also replaced engine, under dash, engine ect. It does have a few scratches and nicks from moving it around from one garage to another as I had brought this car with me when I moved back to Cali from Vegas. The floors have also been replaced but not done to the best of my liking. They are secure just were done sloppy. The vent windows I think need new rubber seals and handles. The engine was just tuned by Dave Statland and runs great the car only has 26 miles on it. Im sure I have left things out so if you are intrested send me a email with whatever questions you might have.  Thank you for looking and bid to win! Car is being sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied. Buyer is reponsible for pick and/or shipping.

Next-generation GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado spied together

Mon, Jun 13 2022

With the debut of the next-generation GMC Canyon coming in a couple of months (in off-road-ready AT4 guise no less), it's no surprise that both it and the Chevy Colorado are out testing without the heavy coverings of early prototypes. One of our spy photographers caught examples of both trucks with close-fitting vinyl wraps. This gives us a great opportunity to see each pickup more clearly, but also to compare and contrast the designs. From the front, the GMC features a narrower, but seemingly taller grille. At the top are slender lamps. They seem to be daytime running lights, though, and below them are much larger units that will function as the actual headlights. The prototype shown seems to be one of the AT4 variants, based on the lack of a lower air dam and the opened up corners of each bumper. Small fog lights show up in the lower bumper, too. As for the Chevy, its grille is wider, and it blends into the headlights. The lights are at the top of the grille, and they seem to incorporate the actual headlights, not just running lamps. The grille mesh has some interesting detailing, and there are auxiliary lights below the main headlights. This one seems to be a more mainstream Colorado model since it still has a front air dam, possibly a Z71 model, considering the chunky tires. Not surprisingly, the two trucks are very similar from the sides and the rear. They have cabins that look lower, longer and more squared-off than the current models. The fenders look more punched out and aggressive, too. The main differentiator between the Chevy and GMC are the wheel openings. The GMC has sharp corners and the Chevy has more rounded ones, as is the case with the full-size trucks. As previously mentioned, the GMC Canyon AT4 will be revealed this summer, so likely in just a month or two. The Colorado will likely be revealed this summer, too. It's expected that it will use the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder shared with the Silverado. Naturally, it will be available with two- and four-wheel drive and a variety of trim levels including the AT4 and ZR2 off-road versions. Related video:

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint

Sun, Feb 6 2022

Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:

GM cutting back on powertrain warranty citing lack of interest

Thu, Mar 12 2015

Generally, when a manufacturer offers a long, high-mileage warranty, it's a sign that it stands behind its products. On top of that, it's generally a selling point for consumers, who can rest easy knowing that any catastrophic failures will be picked up by the manufacturer. Considering those facts, it does seem rather strange that General Motors is slashing the mileage warranty on model year 2016 vehicles from Chevrolet and GMC. Instead of offering consumers a 100,000-mile warranty, GM will now only offer a powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles. The five-year warranty period, though, remains unchanged. GM will also cut the number of free services being offered to Chevy and GMC owners, as well as Buick drivers, from four to two. "Through research, we have determined that when purchasing a new vehicle, included maintenance and warranty rank low on the list of reasons why consumers consider a particular brand over another," explained a memo sent to dealers by Chevrolet VP Brian Sweeney and his GMC counterpart, Duncan Aldred, and obtained by Automotive News. "As a result, we have benchmarked our competitors, reviewed our current offerings and have concluded the following modifications to align closely with our customers' needs and expectations." While the move might seem odd, Sweeney and Aldred are right – according to Automotive News, Ford, Honda and Toyota each offer a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. As for what the money saved by trimming the powertrain warranty will go towards, a GM spokesperson simply told AN that the company will "reinvest the savings we will realize into other retail programs," some of which have been requested by consumers. What are your thoughts? Would a 40,000-mile reduction in a new vehicle's powertrain really turn you off from buying one? Even if it matched its competitors? Is GM better off spending its money elsewhere? Have your say in Comments.
