Very cool, very fun Chevrolet Corvair Spyder Convertible that can turn heads. I’ve owned this car for 10 + years and put about 2,000 miles on it—driving weekends and every now and then for a short work commute (that is now over an hour long). It needs to find someone who has time to appreciate it and drive it.

It had a full service/tune-up about 2 years ago, but has sat for over a year. The interior is very good—I believe seats etc. were re-done by the previous owner--and they've been kept in great shape--see photos. I’ve had it serviced and updated over the years—things like shocks, starter re-build, addition of seat belts. Has original radio that fades when you drive under a railroad trestle—as it should.

The downsides—it will need a new roof sooner rather than later (see pics) and am currently using duct tape to keep interior dry, paint is not original and has crazed, chrome on rear bumper has pitted and the turbocharger (not needed to run and have fun) will need to be re-built to function. Car ran great though whenever it was driven.

With a little bit of work you can have a great driver where people will stop to ask you about the car. It is fun—just turn the key and listen to that great rumble when it starts.

GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015

General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.

GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan

GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones Â– timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR.
