In 1967 Ruth Sampson ordered her baby through her nephew Larry Cox from Reedman Motors, in Langhorne, Pa.
Ruth ordered a 1967 Chevelle 300 Deluxe, Radio Delete, 283 3 Speed on the column, AC. Blue, Blue interior.
Ruth was a school teacher who drove a international scout, and decided she would treat herself to a nice little car with some pep and ac, and only drive her in nice weather, and it shows.
The car today maintains its original body panels, original interior, 3 original of its 4 T-3 headlights, original headliner, and glass, its original bumpers, lenses, chrome trim, emblems.
The car is a impeccable time piece as an original survivor......Now with that being said and Ruth Sampson a single mother and a only son now at the age of 24 at the time, this beautiful car takes a little wild turn......yup we all did it.

The good and the bad of the car will vary for all of us;  Phillip Sampson at 24 years of age aquired moms car and with help of his uncle and drag racing on his mind find a race shop in Berwyn, PA. to do a conversion on the car that entailed a 12 bolt rear end, Muncie 4-Speed, and a L-88, all purchased at English Town New Jersey.
This journey led them to Jenkins Competion in Berwyn PA. The parts were installed with additional items that were needed to complete Phillips car. The only suspension work that was done were a pair of traction bars and away he went.

The monster was built, Phillip got his wish and the car was not pleasant to drive on the street.  So with a lot of hours and money spent, the car was now not streetable due to its open exhaust and gearing, so off too street racing and the track they went.  The car had its fun making some money, and losing some on the streets of Philly, NJ, NYC.  The car did well at the tri-state tracks, and in 1979 went into the warehouse on blocks where it sat till 1995. In 1995 the car was registered for one year and off the road it went again.
Ruth Sampson had passed in 1998, and Phillip passed in 2011.  Through an estate and one year of paperwork I acquired the car.

Lets get something straight before I continue, this is not a car that Mr. Bill Jenkins ever owned, raced, built for himself and then sold to Bill Clinton in Arkansas.  Its a shop that performed worked as they did and were paid for there services.

Today the car still sits in its original everything, as stated above. Below is a list of items that I installed since receiving the car.

I have the original Protecto-plate, Warranty Book, Jenkin Competition material.
I have the original L-88 that came in the car and is complete, minus the Ansen valve covers that are on new motor.
New 519 CU Big Block, Roller Comp Cam with Merlin aluminum heads, Dominator, Headers, Ansen Valve Covers. 756HP on the stand.
The transmission was rebuilt and shifts great and a Scatter shield installed.
The 12 bolt was rebuilt with new gears 3:83, and positraction center unit.
The motor is cabled down to the mounts as it was when received.
New radiator large single core, switched dual spawn fans, 160 thermostat.
MSD Ignition, Coil
1/2" Custom aluminum fuel line, insulated. New Fuel Tank and sending unit, gauge works at dashboard
Electric Fuel Pump and filter put in same location as original. New wiring, pump on ingnition with toggle switch as original.
New Tach was installed as the Stewart Warner that it came with did not work.
Front Disc Brakes were replaced, along with the master cylinder, lines etc.
I replaced the old cool can with a new Moroso Can.
I installed the Hotchkis suspension kit and sway bar. New shocks and springs.
Front rally wheels with 1967 disc brake caps, wrapped with Firestone wide-oval 70-15. I have original Cragers for front.
Rear  Mickey Thompson Drag radials on 15 x 8 steel wheel.
The lettering on the car I purchased in PA at a swap meet, they are vinyl.

The car is a blast too drive and is scary fast, it is set up as they did back in the day and draws more attention at shows.  The workmanship and detail is what makes this car something special and quite different.  If you look at the hood it is raised on its hinges too allow heat to disperse like a cowl hood.  The car runs at 195 and no heating issues, and will run on 93 octane, it wakes up with 104. It is truly a great piece for any collection or somebody who just raced back in the day who wants something special and original to its time.
Thanks for looking.

The 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan is for drivers who value performance above all else

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

The car you see above is the 2014 Chevrolet SS, and it's important both because it is the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from Chevy in 17 years, and because it will be the nameplate the brand uses on NASCAR tracks all across the country starting this year.
Though it wears a name as American as baseball and apple pie, the machine was actually designed and built in Australia, sharing most of its parts with the brand-new VF-model Holden Commodore. That said, the basic chassis bits are shared with other Chevrolet models like the Camaro and Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle.
While Chevrolet is happy to sell a Malibu or Impala to anyone looking for a mainstream family sedan, but the SS is reserved for buyers interested first and foremost in performance. Most sedans sold these days are front-wheel drive, which is great for everyday driving and when the weather goes bad, but the SS is instead a rear-wheel-drive vehicle aimed at enthusiasts who love to drive and who prefer speed and performance above all else.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.
